See i think that shashi dialogue about 2 saal hai is related to this.

In two years, eshan will be fifteen and since ram and eshan are parallel, so my theory is when Ram was 15 he got to know about VK being is adopted parent as around the same time shivi would have been born.

So possibly ram heard vk and nandini discussing ram not being vk's son. Hence he doesn't feel any haq over their love as he knows he is not their blood.
