Sustainability & ITV - there may be hope yet?

If they do share outfits between shows, I'm actually mildly impressed.

If they can take steps towards sustainability & reusing the same clothes over again then there's a ray of hope that things in the industry can improve.

Reusing set decorations! Not wasting mithai!

I know it's completely unrelated but I'm hoping the next step would be to focus on improving storylines & story-telling.

Can't wait for ITV to stop babying & spoon-feeding the audience with those annoying dubbed voiceovers where they have to explicitly say out loud what they're thinking.

I've heard that back in the day, before there were so many serials, I think there was more variety in the shows they offered (as per what I've been told by the older generation)

Female characters back in the day used to be powerful, intelligent, forces of nature!

Anyway this topic is random and all over the place. Brain splurge. Ignore me. EVERYONE DOES ANYWAY! 😆

I really really hope they would improve storylines AND storytelling.. Yes the voice overs to tell us what the character is thinking is sooo bull!! Like what is that?? It just gives the actors an easy way out from having to communicate their thoughts to the viewers through facial expressions and body language. I WANT THAT TO CHANGE!!! we have a whole brain, not just two brain cells like Mimi ki beti.

I don't know how itv shows were before. But I think you may be right.. When there was just DD I think the content must have been better. Like quality goods that were hand made are better than mass produced factory goods now.

I agree about the voiceovers. It's so annoying to hear everything explained and elaborated. Why can't they let the audience realize or understand what's going on or what someone is thinking instead of spelling everything out.

I find all the dressing up also ridiculous. Can we have the characters dressing down a little? Why do they have to be so made up all the time? It would really enhance the scenes also if they dress more casually and look like regular people. This actually reminds me of Akshu's eye make up and lipstick when she was in hospital after her apparent life threatening accident 😕 Why would you do that? The make up was so jarring and so distracting especially because of the whole situation of life and death.

Yes they should reuse clothes and decorations

Yes storytelling needs to improve and has a long way to go. Hopefully one day Indian tvs can be watched internationally with sane stories told realistically rather than bizarre, over the top stories for trp

Back in the day the female leads were significantly stronger and a force to reckon with for vamps.... even though they were still goody-goody.

Ok if they are really reusing the dresses pls don't go around in other shows.

Let the beti use her mom's clothes now.

Apparently the joke here is 2 years back actresses used to copy Naira's dresses n now her beti goes around reusing others dresses.

KYA SE KYA HO GAYA.

Why only speak about Naira, Keerti had better dresses than Akshu, sometimes even Aarohi.

I really want to know is it that the script demands such dresses to Akshu now? As in they want such personality n her dressing improves after they get married or something or they want to show she is ignored. But red alert- the fam is supposed to be rich, not poor who goes around wearing rags n curtains.

Because I refuse to believe the designers to be this stupid.🤢

I don't have any say in the writing of the serial cuz I have accepted that the writers don't want to use their brain n they'll serve only what they want in the plate. We've no say there.

Oh, yes.

This might come as a surprise. But Doordarshan used to telecast some amazing TV serials that were way too progressive in 1980s and 1990s. Some of them were too daring and especially the female characters amazing. Even the regional TV used to have these. I have heard my aunt talking about them. But right now, even regional channels are bought by giants like Star Plus, Zee TV etc and they all dish out remakes and everything is absolute crap. It is actually depressing to see how good content literally disappeared and got replaced by crap like YRKKH.

Kora Kagaz, Aarohan are a few examples.

Where are all those good storytellers now?? I was saying in another forum page that if the cvs can't think up any new stories that are good they can at least adapt stuff from literature.. so many Indian languages have amazing, wonderful works, why don't they do that? Are there any technicalities that prevent it?

That's the thing. Doordarshan did adaptations of Malgudi days. Even though it wasn't mind blowing Netflix did a decent job of weaving Rabindranth Tagire stories into a limited series. And Pak TV dramas are way way better. So it's not like it's an impossible feat. There just isn't the will to try and do something gutsy and see what happens.
