Thanks for ur thoughts...but

That's the question why one point is more scandolous than the other?? Is it the mindset?

I mean is it ok to lie to.ur family and put ur sister in front as a sheild?

Not that Akshara dint lie but hers was based on importance she gave to Arohi and for Arohi it was importance Arohi gives to herself...so it's a selfish motive..yet Akshara comes out as bigger sinner than Arohi..if we look at it from a so called

" societies " point of view..ladki Ghar se bhag gayi wala tag...and here is what the mindset we r yet to change or understand!!

Anyway..i know it's still debatable..but it's rather disturbing that it is this way!!

I thought it was a good point - what Arohi did was not the most considerate thing but it wouldn't have caused the same scandal for the family as what Akshara did. People are much less likely to gossip over a wedding that got canceled because the bride ran off to take an exam than one that got canceled because the bridegroom ran off with the bride's sisterđŸ€Ł

(i interpreted Arohi's outburst a little differently it seems - I thought she was talking about the fall out from her actions vs. Akshara's actions)

Aarohi's argument was that she hid the truth about the exam and went to a different city on her wedding day. But it was all for her career. It was not such a big offense.

Whereas Akshu who has a non existent career..lied not only about her love for Abhimanyu..she also hid the truth about what was going on between jija ji and her. And of course, the biggest offense was that she ran away with jija ji on the wedding day of Abhimanyu-Aarohi and was about to get married to him in a mandir.

I agree with Aarohi. There's no comparison between both offenses. Akshu surpassed Aarohi's offense by miles and Aarohi was trying to establish her career and get an admit into a university and was not running behind some guy and was definitely not getting married secretly in some mandir.
Akshu who has no priorities in life and just does ghar ke kaam, aarohi ke kaam, inke kaam, unke kaam..no ambition, no future plans (other than getting married to jija ji) ran away with jija ji on her sister's wedding day and was making promises to him in a mandir.

I agree with u it's a totally rubbish Argument ... however will the society that maist love in see it that waya handful of us will go with Akshara on this but yet there b ppl who will forgive Arohi coz it's for career and won't forgive Akshara as it's Ghar ki izzat ka sawal...DESPITE THE FACT...that all our lives we r seasoned to give importance to all relationships...when one does that it questioned coz it's to be done in certain boundaries..one can't define their boundaries!!!

I know they all made a mess of the situation. Yet to bring it to this stage the r many responsible..not only Akshara and Arohi!!

As a career-oriented person who would choose my career over love, relationship and whatever else, I can tell you without a doubt that Aarohi's argument is total rubbish.

"I care for my career so I am going to get a degree by lies and bribary" ?? That too an MD. Like bro, this is about people's lives!

It doesn't matter what the reasons are, you do not take shortcuts in a medical profession. She wants to be the best right? Then she has to work for it, study for 3 years and earn that degree, not lie and give money to get a fake one.

Chota sa jhut bhi bahut bada paap hota hai if your intentions are bad, not pure within....Anything done for selfish motives and by going through hurting, suppressing others definitely will not leave one content and at peace!!! period.

Arohi's intentions are selfish from the beginning and it's for fulfilling self ego, arrogance, abusing others...achieving by making home peaceless for others

I am doctor but I did my MBBS in India and MD abroad..so don't know much in India..

but one thing I am sure is - Once the deadline is gone it's illegal to get into the exam by bribing. That is totally unethical. This seems an entrance exam to me. One cannot get MD degree overnight just by exam. It requires full 3-4 years of training to get the MD degree after MBBS.

Being a doctor, not following the standards of practice is not accepted by any license authority and one can face serious charges...

I am a doctor too, MBBS and MS both here in India. Entrance exam is common and we get the specialisation based on the rank / score we score. Counselling will be held wherein the options are given to us to choose from. And yes, it's a 3 year MD course and if one wants to do a super-speciality, another two years. There are no short-cuts for this. Even if one does throw money around, they can buy the seat for the 3 year PG. No one is handed over the degree just like that.

But then again... this is a show where a cardiologist operates on vocal cords. So the CVs are being quite liberal while taking creative liberties. I put my brain in the freezer during all the hospital scenes :D

I cannot agree more ...u have analysed it very well and given a balanced analysis to both sides!! As u say..nothing is black and white..I agree. Very thoughtfully written!!

One thing which I fail.to.understand..none is addressing the inherent issue but all r going with the superficial problem..Can't they see Arohis sibling rivalry angle..i hope they explore that in depth in future....as how hell bent she is to prove Akshu wrong!!

Even if Abhimanyu wasn't in picture..the way she insulted her profession..and blamed her for all the troubles in her life...r they all blind to ignore all that!!

Well Its just a serial but in real life too that's a concern..the deep rooted issues r ignored and superficial problems r made issues of!!

Parents / elders - esp in South Asian societies, find it easier to forgive their kid’s mess-ups if the reason behind it is academics. As sad as it sounds, it is a fact in the majority of households. A child getting caught copying in an entrance exam says - I couldn’t handle the pressure and I was so scared of disappointing you. They would be angry and disappointed but accept it faster than a kid saying - I couldn’t live without this guy / girl, I was scared of losing him / her so I ran away to be with him / her.

Reason at the end of it all, I feel, is a simple one - in the first case, the kid says not wanting to disappoint parents is the priority so he / she chose dishonesty over their disappointment. Whereas in the second case, the kid is obviously prioritizing another person over the whole family, their heartbreak and their “izzat”.

Anyway
your question is what is forum’s POV. I will share mine. Neither case is a black and white one. It’s different shades of grey (no pun intended)

Arohi - she did not do it for her studies and career. She did it for her ego. That is a fact. She is merely stating that as a reason - just like the kid in the above example took the easy way out by copying but when questioned says I didn’t want to disappoint my parents by failing. Is it justified? No. But she is in a position to yell because she was lucky enough to get back to her wedding on time. She is the jilted bride.

Akshara - she did not do it to hurt her sister or the family. Hell, she had no intention of any - bhago aur shaadi karo. She did it because she had no bloody choice. If not for the realization that Arohi is on an ego trip with that marriage with Abhi
that he was and would be nothing more than a trophy for her going forward. She probably would have kept quiet and gone on with her sacrifice mindset even then if not for Abhi and his threat of - mein kya karjaunga yeh tum soch bhi nahi sakti. From then on, the situation was out of her hands. Is it justified? No. But it hadn’t been planned either. But she is not in a position to yell because her sister is the jilted bride at the end of the day and her family became the talk of the town because she chose Abhi over her family.

I think sidnilove basically gave a great answer to this.
Arohi’s intentions have always been willfully wrong whereas Akshara’s wrong deeds came from guilt and confusion. But Arohi cleverly did not present this objective view of their wrongs to Manish, only the subjective view - how will the rest of the world view their actions. And as sidnilove says correctly, society is not going to point fingers at the Goenkas for the girl who ran out for the sake of her career but for the girl who ran out to elope with her sister’s fiancĂ©.
