On the occasion of World Environment Day, actress Priya Thakur, who plays the lead role in Vasudha, shared her thoughts on growing environmental concerns and the role individuals play in protecting nature. Speaking about the challenges facing the environment today, the actress reflected on how daily choices and lifestyles directly impact the world around us.

According to Priya, environmental issues go beyond pollution and are closely connected to the way people live their lives. She believes that many of today’s problems stem from the constant rush for convenience and quick results, which has led people to overlook the importance of nature and sustainability.

Sharing her perspective, Priya said, “I feel one of the biggest problems today is the way we are living our lives, with too much speed and very little thought.”

She further explained that people are often taking from nature without allowing it enough time to recover. “We are constantly taking from nature without giving it time to recover. Climate change and pollution are serious issues, but somewhere they are connected to this mindset of ‘more and faster,’” she added.

Priya Thakur Calls Plastic Pollution A Silent Yet Serious Threat

Talking about one of the most pressing environmental concerns, Priya highlighted the growing issue of plastic pollution. She pointed out that plastic has become so common in daily life that many people no longer recognise the long-term damage it causes.

“Plastic, for me, feels like a silent problem that we have normalised too much. It doesn’t disappear, it just stays and keeps piling up year after year,” she said.

The actress also spoke about the broader environmental impacts of plastic waste. According to her, the problem extends far beyond visible pollution and affects ecosystems in multiple ways.

“It blocks soil, pollutes rivers and oceans, and harms animals. What is more concerning is that it slowly enters our own system through the food chain,” she shared.

Priya believes that awareness about such issues is important because many environmental problems develop gradually and often go unnoticed until they become severe.

Small Daily Habits Can Create A Big Difference

Speaking about her own contribution to protecting the environment, Priya said she focuses on maintaining simple, consistent habits in her everyday life.

“I try to keep my habits simple but consistent because I feel that is what really works in the long run,” she said.

The actress revealed that she pays attention to small actions such as switching off electrical appliances when not in use, avoiding plastic wherever possible, and being mindful about water and food consumption.

She believes that while these actions may appear small individually, they can collectively make a meaningful difference when practised regularly.

“These habits may look very small individually, but when you practice them every day, they become a part of your lifestyle,” she added.

For Priya, environmental responsibility is not about making dramatic changes overnight but about building sustainable habits that become a natural part of everyday living.

Concerned About The Future

Looking ahead, Priya admitted she worries about what the world could become if environmental issues continue to be ignored.

“I feel the world will become much more artificial than natural. Clean air and water could become something we have to struggle for,” she said.

She believes that the consequences of environmental neglect will not only affect nature but also impact people emotionally and socially. According to her, the loss of natural resources and green spaces would change the way future generations experience the world.

Concluding her thoughts on World Environment Day, Priya shared a simple but meaningful message about the need to build a stronger connection with nature.

“We should stop thinking of nature as something separate from us. Even small awareness in daily choices can create a larger impact. It is about building a habit of care and respect for nature in our everyday lives.”

Through her message, Priya Thakur emphasised that environmental protection begins with everyday actions and mindful choices. She believes that lasting change is possible when people understand that caring for nature is not an occasional responsibility but a way of life.
