Doesn't matter what the goal was. They did cheat.

Marriage is about 2 individuals making a life together. If their goals change, they talk it out. If it doesn't work, they go their separate ways with dignity. Cheating is not the right thing.

Heart wants what it wants, but how we go about getting it (or not) is ours to control.

Movies aren't about the "right" way to live. They're about the way that things often end up being. If they were only about giving lectures and the correct format of living, they would be very boring and unentertaining.

Maya and Dev's cheating was just a function of them being so unhappy. I don't think they really saw divorce as an option. They were old fashioned Indian people and felt they were trapped and had no option out.

I don't think Dev and Maya would have lasted either. I never got the sense that they fell in love. They were just each other's escape. Once there were no obstacles, they would have gotten tired of each other too.

Agree that Dev and Maya would've eventually split up too. Neither accepted their faults, and I don't mean their cheating. The lack of whatever in their mental makeup that made them cheat.

As for Rishi and Riya, they were dumbos to not see that their marriage was dead long long before the cheating.. Rishi should have tried to understand that Maya felt incomplete due to her inability to conceive and had a proper conversation with her about it instead of trying to push it all under the carpet in the guise of humor

As for Riya and Dev, Dev needed therapy.. a good long counselling session after he lost his long cherished dream because of his accident.. every person who becomes crippled following an accident should get therapy and councelling.. it's not really surprising that Dev became this bitter guy.. Its not easy to see everyone around you realizing their dreams when you have lost yours due to your disability.. Dev needed help post his accident which he never got

None of this excuses their cheating.. they could have gotten together when they realized their feelings and come clean with their partners before sleeping together.. The affair is where they went wrong.. Other than that, all four were flawed humans

Rhea was definitely not flawed, She did all that she could. She was happy for Dev whenever he achieved something.

Rhea was flawed because she didn't realize her husband needed therapy.. Rhea was flawed because she continued to stay in an unhappy marriage.. Rhea was flawed because she didn't realize that her marriage was dead and was fine to let it continue to in that toxic manner without realizing that she either needs to move out or get Dev the professional help he needs.. she was flawed to not realize how her kid will be affected if he continues to be in the toxic environment that Dev provided him with.. She should have gotten out, or actually did something about her marriage.. Simply living in that situation was idiotic

Rhea in the end says to Arjun when he proposed to her that she is finally a mother to her kid that she wasn't all those years and wants to remain that for now.. Why? why did it take a divorce for her to start giving time to her kid?

It's not easy to give up on a marriage you invested years in. She was constantly tryng to make it work, which Dev wasn't.

And also, she couldn't be the mother to her kid because she had to play the role of a father as well. Surprised you didn't get that after watching the whole movie.

And she stopped playing the role of father post her divorce? why so? didn't she still have to survive in the incredibly expensive city? she didn't have the time to play the role of a mother and rescue her kid from a toxic father when she was married to him but miraculously had the time to do so after her divorce? Yup.. That makes perfect sense

No.. she wasn't trying to make it constantly work.. She was just in the marriage on paper.. Both of them were.. None of them were trying to make it work.. She decided not to give anything to the marriage till Dev gave her love.. And Dev was too busy wallowing in self pity to notice anything else.. there was zilch effort initially from both sides to make the marriage work..

And ironically, Dev and Maya came together as an attempt to make their marriages work.. and that turned out to be a disaster

whatever excuse we give but the fact remains cheating is cheating and for whatever reason its wrong & a sin

one fall out of love in a 25 yrs marriage too but that doesn't give u the rights to sleep with another man/women or another married man/women & cheat your marriage

what karan shows how cheating happens but he did not show the trauma the spouses goes through when they caught their cheating partners suddenly the marriage of years fill with memories becomes a dream that broke easily after waking up to reality,everything becomes fake & the spouse feels that there is something wrong with them or not able to give happiness sexually and in some instance they take a wrong decision emotionally & some leads to crime

The trauma makes a great impact that one fears to believe in relationships love & marriage furthermore its difficult to forget cheating & betrayal no matter how much one tries the images flashes across in the mind thinking of your spouse in a bed with another thats really painful & mentally traumatizing

Many says go to a counselling & psychiatrist they can't do much if the person got cheated can't help himself or herself

Cheating is Cheating its a sin nothing can justify that

If marriage has issues either work it out or go separate ways with clean chit not sleeping around with another with the marital status being married

I don't know abt people taking marriage vows seriously but in all religion when marriage vows is taken its all abt husband-wife loyalty & faithfulness with each other & only with each other in good & bad times but nowadays those vows are not taken seriously

Rhea & Rishi are not perfect but that does not give Maya & Dev the authority to cheat them by having an affair & sleeping together being married to others. They totally cross the lines & boundaries

Rishi was not bad in bed its just that Maya doesn't love him and Rishi becomes a kid & lighten the atmosphere witb humour becos he doesn't want Maya to feel bad or go in depression just becos she can't become a mother. He made an effort to sustain his marriage but Maya was not interested in any of his efforts thus she did not put in any effort instead of communicating she chose to sleep with another women's husband thats not love

As for Dev-Rhea, if the opposite happens Dev is busy and is not giving time so she can go out cheat & sleep with another man or married man just becos her hubby is not giving her time,i don't think she will do that she will be protecting her marriage & kid. Spouse working & not giving time is not an excuse to cheat & sleep around,one needs to put an effort to make a marriage work Dev was more interested in his selfish interest & ego lamenting over his fate on making him crippled

I hate when cheating is justified & put the blame on excuses when marriage is all abt building a relationship & effort should be put 1000% together
