For nearly two decades, Gaurav Khanna has remained a familiar face on Indian television, winning hearts through a variety of memorable roles. Whether it was his performances in popular fiction shows or his recent appearances on unscripted television, the actor has consistently managed to keep audiences engaged. In recent months, however, viewers have seen a different side of Gaurav as he stepped away from daily soaps and ventured into the world of reality television. From showcasing his culinary skills on MasterChef to entertaining audiences on Bigg Boss, the actor has been embracing new challenges, and his journey in the reality space is far from over.

While Gaurav will next be seen participating in Khatron Ke Khiladi, many have noticed the actor's growing presence in non fiction programming. However, according to Gaurav, this shift was never part of a carefully crafted strategy. Instead, he describes it as a natural progression that happened on its own.

Speaking about his recent career choices to Bombay Times, the actor shared that he has never been someone who follows a rigid plan. Rather than chasing a particular genre or format, he prefers exploring opportunities that allow him to do something different from what he has already done.

"I wasn't planning it that way. Things just happened. I've always been like that in my career. I just try to ensure that whatever I do today is different from what I did yesterday," he says.

His willingness to step outside his comfort zone has become evident through the variety of projects he has taken up over the years. While many actors prefer sticking to a familiar space, Gaurav appears to enjoy experimenting and reinventing himself whenever the opportunity arises.

Reflecting on his recent entry into reality television, the actor admitted that he sometimes wonders how different the experience might have been had these opportunities come earlier in his career. Having spent years establishing himself as a successful television actor, he believes timing plays an important role in shaping one's journey.

"I was just thinking the other day that if I had got this opportunity 10 15 years ago, I would have been smooth as butter. But I also believe that whatever happens at a particular time happens for a reason."

The statement reflects Gaurav's practical outlook towards his career. Rather than dwelling on missed opportunities, he prefers focusing on the present and making the most of whatever comes his way. It is an approach that has helped him navigate the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry.

Despite enjoying a successful phase professionally, Gaurav does not view it as a matter of finally receiving long overdue recognition. Instead, he sees success as part of a larger cycle that continues to evolve over time.

"Not due as such. I feel it is a cycle. Right now, the cycle is moving in the right direction, but I'm very realistic. Things won't be the same every time," he says.

His balanced perspective extends to both achievements and setbacks. Unlike many who become overwhelmed by either success or failure, Gaurav believes maintaining emotional equilibrium is essential for longevity in the industry.

"I never get too happy with success, and I don't get too perturbed by failures. In fact, failures keep you grounded. That's where stability happens," he shares.

Even as reality shows occupy a significant place in his current professional journey, Gaurav insists that acting remains his first love. According to him, no matter what format he explores, the performer within him continues to observe, learn and evolve.

"I am an actor at heart, and I always will be. I'm open to TV, OTT, anything. I love doing television, and I'm not someone who works for a few days and then sits at home. The actor in me is always working; it's constantly observing, learning and absorbing things subconsciously. Right now, reality shows are coming my way, so I'm doing them. And in many ways, they help me grow as an actor too," he says.

As Gaurav prepares for yet another reality television challenge, his journey serves as a reminder that reinvention is often the key to staying relevant. While audiences may currently be enjoying his unscripted avatar, the actor remains committed to his craft, viewing every new experience as an opportunity to grow both professionally and personally.
