Sridevi and Boney Kapoor in deep trouble |
Zeenews Bureau New Delhi, April 24: Actress Sridevi has once again hit the headlines but this time it's not for her glamorous look, as she did during the Lakme India Fashion Week, but for being accused in a cheque bounce case. The case pertains to some cheques issued by Sridevi and her hubby Boney Kapoor to film financer Madhu Gupta. The Mumbai High Court had stayed proceedings in the case and now Gupta has moved the Supreme Court. The financier in his appeal has stated that Sridevi and her family are in the business of raw film supply to film producers and that they also finance film production through their companies G G Photo Limited, Photo Film Industries and Foto Industries. Gupta claimed that the actress and her husband had availed themselves of financial help and credit facility from their business concerns. The couple had issued three cheques, one for Rs 92,50,484, one for Rs 8,41,85,682 and another for Rs 31,62,074 to discharge their legally enforceable liability. However, all the three cheques had bounced. Gupta had filed three complaints in April, 2007. However, the actress and her husband got many adjournments and finally, moved the Mumbai High Court seeking a stay on the proceedings. When the actress was asked for comments, she maintained that the cheques allegedly issued by them, were in fact forged. |
