Tbh, it wasn't a really bad episode per say, but it was a...weird one. In my entire experience of watching ghum, I have felt anger, disappointed, sadness, excitement, happinessm but never once did I feel so...weirded out.
Everyone was so out of character today, even Pakhi. Virat would never hold Pakhi's hand like that. Never. It doesn't mater how pissed off he would be, or even if he actually hated her, he woukd still never hold her hand like that. Do you know why? The answer is something which we are already told thousand times. Because he grew up in a joint family! I know many won't get the relation, but growing up in a joint family actually forms one of his main personality traits. Sai os the one who always speaks her mind regardless of who she is speaking to, she is the one who sometimes (even though we say that some people deserve it) get out of line. But Virat, he do get out of the line sometimes but only with Sai (not saying it is right but just trying to explain his character), because Sai is the only person in front of whom he can show all his flaws and his inner demons (we all have that one person in our life, at some point, in front of whom we forget to check our words). But he would never in his life get out of line with any of his family members, maybe shout at them, get angry at them, but would always atay in his limits. Because he was raised that way. This is why initially Virat had so much problem understanding Sai. Virat took Pakhi's side when the entire "Tell everyone what is your relation with her" scene happened. Not because he cared about her, but because she was his brother's wife, and Samrat wasn't there with her. So, out of lihaaj (I forgot what it is called in English), he stayed quite and didn't answer anything the way Sai wanted him to. But today, all that self restraint just went out of the window and that is soemthing which is just hard to digest.
What should have been: Virat's anger was justified but instead he should have shouted a bit at Pakhi, and maybe said something like, "Pakhi ye kya badtameezi hai. Sai tumko sirf apni party mein hi bulana chahti thi aur tumne usse itna tez dhakka diya?" To which Pakhi didi again would have said something stupid, trying to prove herself right and Sai wrong. And then Virat woukd have shouted, "Agar tumko Sai ki birthday party mein aane mein itni hi problem h na to theek hai mat aao. Kisi ko itni nahi padi hai tumhari. Lekinye mat sochna ki tum meri biwi ko aise chot pahuchaogi aur main bardasht krunga. Nahi aana hai mat aao. Aaj vaise bhi Sai ka din hai aur main nahi chahta ki koi bhi uske iss din ko kharaab kare." I feel like this would have been much better. And it wouldn't have required Virat to grap her hand either. Aur beizzati bhi ho jaati didi ki.
Secondly, Sai. She wasn't behaving in any way Sai is supposed to behave. Who is Sai? She is the one who always speaks the truth, exactly how it is. Who always stand for the right, regardless of who is accused and who is the victim. She is the one who never tolerates any bul***it and any made up mirch masala story. But today
A) She told Virat that this "chot" is Pakhi's birthday gift to her. This statement was both dramatic (somethign which she never is when it comes to speaking truth. She speaks kt just the way it was) and not completely true. It was composed in a way that will shift the entire scenario much more into her favour, something which will make everyone think how much of a victim she was. And Sai Joshi never wants anyone to think that she is a victim, it doesn't matter what she faced. Few examples: Jagtap kidnapping (she never created any melodrama after her rescue), Virat throwing her out of the house (again she never used any excess dramatic taunts or words against or to Virat in GC). Then why would she say such a statement to Virat today.
What should have been: I think it would have been much better if they would have just shown that Sai wanted to say to Virat something like, "Virat Sir, maine Pakhi didi ka haath pakda that unko leke chalne ke liye-" and then Pakhi, thinking that Sai will complain about her, would have interrupted saying something like, "Virat maine sirf apna haath khiicha that chhudaane ke liye" to which Virat would have replied, "To Sai ko ye chot tumhari vajah se lagi hai?" (Something which he actually said in today's episode).
B) Sai always point out wrong when she sees it. So, she would have 100% stopped Virat when he held Pakhi's arm. There was no way that she would just sit there, holding handkerchief to her head while Virat scolded Pakhi.
What should have been: Sai would have gone ahead and stopped Virat, would have grabbed his hand and said, sternly "Virat Sir I know what happened was wrong. Pakhi didi ne jo kiya vo jaan booch ke kiya tha ya nahi mujhe nahi pata. Lekin mujhe itna zaroor pata hai ki aap unka haath iss tarah se pakad kar galat kar rhe h. To please, chhodiye unka haath." They could also have inserted something like, "Vahini hai ye aapki" which would have made all of us more than happy while doing Didi's beizzati simultaneously.
Even her dialogues when she went to cut the cake felt wrong, and to be honest a bit...phony. You know, like suddenly she is trying to be such a "I am always perfect because I always care about all".
Main Pakhi didi ka bhi likhti....lekin main ab thak gyi.
I am not really angry, as I mentioned before, just feeling a bit weird. But do tell me what do you think about this, and do comment your thoughts on my version of today's episode 😉.
