Thank u

Umm its basically the next scene and this isn't Imlie here

Its one of the others in the city. Basically in this FF, I'm focusing on backstories of other characters as well. I have deliberately not mentioned who that she is. That's for u to guess

Part 16: Toofan

They reached the temple, the only one at Pagdandiya within 10 mins. A sense of calmness and devotion felt ingrained in the very air surrounding the temple, as if bestowing divine grace on the visitors and onlookers even from far. Seeking blessings from the Goddess, they were about to take some sindoor when Aditya lost his balance due to being pushed by a man behind and his hand hit the plate of sindoor in the priest's hands which had been kept at the foot of the Goddess and which was considered the most blessed. The plate flung up a bit, all its contents spilling on the one standing next to him - Imlie!

Shock would be an understatement at what she felt! Her hands went to the parting of her hair even as tears filled her eyes. As she brought down her hand covered with the sindoor of her parting, terror filled her eyes. A fear of a different sort took over her being.

Aditya on the other hand had just recovered from the push and cursing the man under his breath, looked around only to find her covered in sindoor. The sight did not affect him much but what he saw in her eyes did! Terror, pure terror could be read in her eyes. She stood completely frozen at her spot.

"May Her divine grace be upon your pair like this always" the priest said, his words shocking both of them and snapping her out of her frozen form.

"W-what are you telling Panditji?" Imlie asked stuttering.

"This sindoor is thought to be the most blessed one which shall only go to the ones who are destined to its grace. Since it's fallen on you both and has filled her parting, it means Sita Maiyya has made your pair and has blessed it also." the priest said, not realising the discomfort and disbelief in their eyes. He blessed them and left from there.

Imlie wordlessly and literally ran from there, snapping Aditya out of his shock.

"Imlie!" he called out and ran behind her, the sindoor and her cycle forgotten.

She ran as fast as her legs could carry, uncaring and unaware of where she was heading. Her mind was all over the place, fear gripping her heart. The words of the priest kept ringing in her head. Aditya ran behind her, extremely worried for her. She was running out of the boundaries of Pagdandiya and it was turning dark. He couldn't leave her. What if something were to happen to her? He shuddered at the thought, trying to push it back in his mind even as he rushed behind her.

________________________________________________________

"Imlie!" he called out, worried like hell. Where had she disappeared? He was now well into the forest at the outskirts of Pagdandiya but hadn't found her anywhere. The sky had turned dark, it being the onset of night. The rainy atmosphere added to it, the light of his torch being the only source of brightness. He was glad he had carried his bag with him despite her refusal.

He kept walking, shouting for her but he got no response. As if this much wasn't enough, it started to rain heavily that instant! Drenched, worried, annoyed and lost, Aditya dint know what to do. He halted beneath a tree, completely blank for the first time in his life.

The branch sheltering him provided no effective cover from the strong rains, rendering him drenched completely and shivering. But despite all this, he wasn't worried or even aware of his state. All he was worried about was her! The sight infront started getting black as his body was losing consciousness due to the physical and emotional stress combined.

Just as he was about to collapse, he was held by somebody and all heard before blacking out completely was

"Babusaheb!"

________________________________________________________

Holding his unconscious form in her grip, she gently lowered him down as she couldn't handle his weight. Worry and fear for his health gripped her harder than the fear she had experienced sometime back over the sindoor. She looked around but found nothing which could provide shelter. She could stay the whole time getting drenched but he couldn't, she knew. His state would worsen if it were left like that. Cursing herself for her mindless action which had risked his life, she tried to revive him but remained unsuccessful. With worry clouding her senses, she couldn't even think straight. Not knowing what else to do, she prayed to her Sita Maiyya to provide some sort of help to them.

As if listening to her plea, the branch above them snapped pouring water on him with a loud splash, jerking him awake.

"Babusaheb!" Imlie called out and helped him up as he struggled to make sense of his surroundings

"Imlie" he tiredly whispered.

"I'm right here Babusaheb" she said

"Come on, let's go from here. Try to stand up Babusaheb. We need to find some shelter or else your health will worsen"

Aditya weakly nodded. He managed to stand up after some efforts, with her help and they moved opposite to the direction they had come, hoping to find some shelter.

Iss saath me kaisi tanhaai hain

Iss rishte me dard ki hi kyun gehrai hain

Aaj barson baad bhi

Khamoshi hi chaayi hain

Anjaan nahi hain hum

Ghum aaj bhi hamare dil me maujood hain

Aakhir apne kaleje ke tukde ko humne bhi gavai hain

Yun toh barson beet gaye hain

Yeh dil na uss gam se ubhar paaya hain

Zakhm uske na hone ka aaj tak nahi bhar paaya hain

Par inn faaslon me zindagi thehra sa hain

Aage badhte hue bhi usi mod pe thama sa hain

Iss khamoshi me umeed ghutne lagi hain

Aapke saath aur prem ke liye phir tarasne lagi hain

Ab toh bas khamoshi hain aapke dil ki karvaton me

Jahan kabhi hamare naam ki shenai bajti thi

Aapke dil ki inn khamosh galiyon me hum musafir aate-jaate hain

Par phir bhi anjaanon se paraya mehsoos karte hain

Kya kabhi yeh pehchaani raahein hume phir apnayegi

Ya isi khamoshi me dubi iss zindagi ki raahein katengi?

She closed her diary after penning down her feelings and wiped the tears in her eyes. Glancing at her husband, she swallowed the lump in her throat and placed her diary back. Switching off the bed lamp, she settled beside him for yet another restless night.

Part 17: Raat Aur Kuch Baatein

The sky thundered violently, pouring down in heavy showers. Lighting up a fire in the abandoned cabin like structure they had been lucky to find after an arduous endeavour in the pouring rains, Imlie crouched down near a tired Aditya and tugged at his hand to take a seat closer to the flame to get some warmth. He tiredly nodded and moved towards the fire, trying to stabilise his shivering self.

Imlie sat down infront of him, adjusting her salwar kameez which had stuck to her frame like second skin. Spreading her dupatta, she covered herself from the front appropriately and then looked at him, who had his eyes closed.

"Are you a bit better now Babusaheb?" she asked worriedly.

"Umm am okay....just my head is.....it feels like alarm clocks are ringing within at the highest speed possible" he said clutching his head.

"Oh! Shall I give you a head massage then? Amma says it helps relieve the headache" she asked

Aditya agreed instantly, just wanting some relief from the headache.

She moved towards him and settling on her knees behind him, started gently massaging his head. A weird feeling coursed through her yet again but she just pushed it aside. She sent a silent prayer to her Sita Maiyya to make Babusaheb alright and also keep her in proper health till he gets well.

Half an hour later

He hadn't known his headache could be cured so fast. Usually it took him atleast an hour or two , applying and reapplying that balm on his head, gulping down cups of coffee and so on. But she had cured his headache within merely half an hour? Her hands really did have some magic, he mused!

_______________________________________________________

Now that he was much better and awake, he saw her silently sitting at the other side, staring at the storm outside. Her dupatta had been wrapped around her like a shawl and that's when he realised they both were actually drenched!

Unable to take the silence between them, which he dint know why it affected him, he spoke

"What are your views about the city and its people Imlie? Do you also think like your Dadda?"

Imlie looked at him and asked

"Why do you ask Babusaheb?"

"Simply. Just want to know about you. We are struck here anyways. We might as well talk and get to know more about each other" Aditya replied shrugging.

"Hmmmm. No two fruits are exactly same despite growing in the same tree. Just because one fruit is rotten, dosen't mean all are" she said calmly.

"So you do agree this perception is wrong right?" Aditya asked. She just nodded.

"Why then did you not feel it wrong for your Dadda to have this perception since years?" he asked throwing her a challenging look. He expected her to get angry and defend her Dadda or dodge the question completely but she dint do either of the two.

Instead, she just smiled and answered

"You know Babusaheb, there is something called point of view or perspective ie.nazariya in each person which differs from person to person. And perspective is something not just shaped by thoughts or mindset but also situations and circumstance. (Looking out at the thundering sky)

Trust is an emotion elemental to us. So when this is broken, you get violated at the basic form or level. And when this happens, the perspectives that shape you drive you over the sands of time to live this life.

Dadda's perception about all city people being cheats is wrong but despite this perception, he hasn't let it fall heavy on his sense of justice. What happened years back is what has shaped him to become what he is today. Yet that is his personal belief. He hasn't let it affect his sense of justice so it dosen't matter. Trying to repeatedly tell him his perception is wrong will do nothing but take him back to the reason of this perception and with it will bring all those things which would cause him pain. And being his shield, I aim to protect him from his pain not give him pain myself"

Aditya couldn't help but feel admiration and respect for her. She was really beyond her age.

"Hmm you're right! What are your dreams Imlie?"

"Just because you're a journalist dosen't mean you'll have to interview me here. But yes, I would like it if when I reach the heights of my dreams, you'll be the one interviewing me. Tell me Babusaheb, when I become a big officer, you'll come to interview me won't you?" Imlie asked with a twinkle of hope in her eyes.

Aditya smiled and said

"If it's written in my fate then I'll surely come" he said at which she smiled. If only he knew, what actually fate had in store for them!

"My dream is to become a big officer after studying hard, move to the city and give the life of respect my Amma and Dadda deserve and also to make sure my Dadda dosen't have to hide and can roam about in open streets with his head held high" Imlie replied after a moment of silence.

"All the best for it Imlie" Aditya said

"Thank you Babusaheb" she replied

"Who all are there in your family Babusaheb?" Imlie asked

"My parents, Tauji-Taiji, Rupi Didi, her daughter Twinkle, Dhruv Bhai, Nidhi Bhabhi, their son Sunny and now Malini" Aditya said

"Wow, you do have a big family" she said with a smile which soon turned to a melancholic look on her face. She turned her head towards the side not willing to show anybody what she actually felt, but he had already seen that look and had also comprehended that she had recalled about her father.

"Come on, let's try to catch up on some sleep. Else we won't have the energy to head back tomorrow" Aditya said trying to pull her out of it. She nodded and settled at that corner, squirming into herself. He turned the other side and slept facing the wall, understanding her discomfort. Her respect for him grew at his action and silent understanding. But her fears weren't gone completely. All she could think of was what would she tell when she gets back because they would never understand this situation. She decided to go before and ask Babusaheb to come later so that nobody suspects they had been together. Though nothing had happened between them, she knew the villagers were too orthodox to understand this. Just the fact that they were in the same place for the whole night would lead them to speaking absolute rubbish about her and Babusaheb's character, which she surely did not want. With this, she tossed and turned the entire night, sleep far away from her.

Part 18: Parinaam ?? (1)

The next day dawned bright after the darkness of the storm faced last night. Imlie woke up at the first call of dawn and waited for Aditya to wake up so that she can tell him that she'll go first.

Aditya woke up a few minutes later and that's when she explained to him that she'll go first and he can come behind sometime after since at no cost the villagers should come to know that they were together the entire night. Though against lies, Aditya just agreed to her except he told her he needed to accompany her till the entrance of the forest since he dint know the way back. Imlie agreed and they set out immediately only to see two large trees lying uprooted on the ground due to the storm, blocking the way.

Both sighed in irritation. All sorts of troubles had to befall them at this time only? If only they knew this was just the beginning!

"What do we do now Babusaheb? Niether of us is strong enough to lift this up!" Imlie said.

"I know. hmmm....we have just one option"

"What?"

"Climb!"

"Ok.....wait what?"

"Yes, we have to climb this" Aditya repeated. How much ever stupid it sounded, he saw no other option. Imlie understood this as well so she nodded.

"I'll go first and then help you across, okay?" he asked and she nodded. She knew the height difference between them would come to use and he can pull her across but she cannot.

He gave her his bag to hold and as cautiously as possible, crossed the fallen trunk. Steadying himself in the gap between the uprooted trees, he held out his hand for her. She put the bag at her back and moved forward. Supporting herself with one hand on the trunk, she stretched across to hold his hand. As soon as her comparatively small hand slipped in his, he held in firmly, helping her across.

They successfully reached the other side and breathed a sigh of relief.

"Finally!"both exclaimed and moved towards retracing their steps to find the entrance of the forest. The forest has always been forbidden to visit with the villagers citing all sorts of lame things. Imlie never believed in them but she dint have the time to go against either. After an endeavour of 20 mins, they reached out of the forest. They halted for a second during which she indicated him that she's going and he should come behind in sometime. He nodded. But just as she turned to go, she saw all the villagers along with her Nakli Nani and her Amma standing in front! She gulped! Her worst fears had come true.

"Amma" she said and ran to embrace her mother who too spread her hand. But just as she reached her, she was pushed to the ground by her Nakli Nani who stood glaring at her. Both Meethi and Aditya had instinctively taken a step forward when Imlie was pushed, which dint go unnoticed by Nakli Nani. She smirked.

Imlie had always been the fruit of sin in her eyes. She wanted her to have a pathetic life but much to her dismay, Imlie's stars were in her favour. She was as bright as light itself and that is what irked Dulari for she wanted Imlie to have a life like herself - dark. She had tried various methods to suppress her but she had shone despite everything. But now she had found the perfect way to push her down and get her to lead a life full of pain. Yes, Dulari had overheard one of their conversations the other day when they were talking about some Malini whom Imlie addressed as Didi. She had come to know that Aditya was committed. And that's when her wicked mind plotted how to bring about what she intended to do. She had seen the spark between the two and though she knew their camaraderie was just of friendship, she decided to use all of it for her benefit. It was easy to instigate the villagers. She only needed a few things.

She had seen Aditya gifting Imlie bangles. And then she had overheard what happened at the temple as well. This was more than enough spark to light a fire. But to top it, they had gone to the forest which was like ghee to the fire.

So all she had to do was throw some instigating words and they would either be killed or forcibly married - either ways, it meant her complete destruction!

And so despite being aware that nothing would have happened between them, she went ahead pouring out all disgusting things, maligning the relationship Aditya and Imlie shared. If only she knew, what she thought she was doing was putting a stop to Imlie's life was in actuality meant for her to shine later on!

_____________________________________________________

He knew that the distance between them was affecting her just as much as him, if not more. He knew what had happened years back wasn't her fault. He was aware he wasn't the only one who had lost that day. Yet he couldn't bring himself to bridge this gap that had come between them.

They were close yet far. Bound yet loose. And despite both wanting to get a middle ground at least, they were just constant at their own ends. True after that day they had broken apart. True that after that day they had remained connected just because of their son. But he knew very well that they remained connected despite being far because their love wasn't that weak to let them just shatter apart. But unfortunately, it wasn't that strong either to pull them close.

It wasn't just her who had restless nights. He too experienced just the same. Just so many times he had wished to take her in his arms and tell her he felt just the same. So many times had he wanted to hug her and whisper sweet endearments in her ears, assuring her he loved her just the same. So many times had he wanted to tell her he is aware of her fears and that despite this distance between them, his love for her hasn't reduced. But he couldn't. Maybe because everytime he tried, that unbearable sight would flash infront of his eyes and thus, the father in him comes to the fore, defeating the husband he is.

Hi as always thank you for the tag in the update.

Wow finally have caught up with part 15 of the update I loved the friendship development between imlie and Aditya and finally you have shared the mystery of the bangles and connect between chapter two today. That’s how he knew it was imlie for he recognised the tune of his own soul without wanting too. It’s such a simple moment but it really connected them as people and the gesture showed how much one can care even without having to spend a lot of time and money.

for me it was magical that he was able to have that moment and allow her to feel special and make a new friend and he just seen as imlie and nothing more. I am pretty sure nani will be watching to strike for the moment seems to lead to a bigger twist.

As for the mystery in the city it reminds me of anu and Maline for some reason. Just feels one of the things she may have been through when Maline wa growing up.

Just wonder how the bangles and Aditya will connect in the future. Will he miss there sound when she had left and are they are tune calling to his heart. I see she has a made space without wanting too and him realising. So cute.

So soulful ❤️

Part 17: oh wow 😯 didn’t see that coming but I love the twist at the Mandir and the whole worry and concern between the two. The fear and realising that there may be more ahead just made the read so much more intense.

It was a nice insight into imlie fear and her whole change within her emotions one could feel the weight of her feelings and the test of her faith. It’s so hard to see when she knows what the sindoor has meant or her mother and what it could do to her and her dreams.

It was like her nightmare was coming in front of her even if it was a blessing. One that he may never understand and one we know he will deny in the start .

But I still loved the way he went looking for her when he knew he didn’t have to. It showed a bond of trust even when the friendship was new he still cared and she never really had somebody to care expect her dadda and her mother.

Him looking out for her and she for him in the end showed no matter how big her fears she cannot see anyone in pain and maybe this is why the journey she will have she will have to learn to fight for her life and self worth because so far I feel she hides her pain so well. I wish Aditya gets to see the vunarable side of her too.

The storm has set and I see this will play the path for the wedding and the trap ahead. I just hope that the storm doesn’t end all her dreams for I feel Aditya love is going to be tested while imlie faith. I just hope one day they can look back on this day and talk off it.

Wonder how he will react to her running away. Will he question it?

The poem at the end is sad but it reminds me of any and her pain and sometimes makes me connect with Rupi too. It sad to see people suffer because of society deems correct rather then focus on what would have been right for them. I like this twist and looks forward to knowing whom they are?

Lovely post 😊

Part 17 and 28 are amazing too loved how they cared for each other when they knew how it was effecting them both. My heart went out to imlie how much she wants to know what it feels like to belong as part of a complete family it’s say nicely put that no matter how strong you are one always wonders about the what ifs?

It’s like she is still searching for answers and acceptance and may be this journey so far has given her a friend but I see that her Nani doesn’t want her to fly and it’s sad to see she will be punished for another’s mistake as shall he.

I wonder how he will forgive and and let go and how they will find there way to each other to accept what they felt when they showed care and concern. The little talk and massage was such a adorable moment that shows why they connect so well even though they are strangers. They often say faith test us when we least expect it and this is what will happen with them.

Will she be able to love him when she learns Maline is her sister and will she accept him as he has off her. I wonder how long this hate will carryon.

hope to read of there journey after there wedding and what they felt but most importantly I wonder what he feels of her today.

Beautiful update.

Love raaz
