As far as I understand, the purpose of separation is so that a couple in which one or both parties are not happy living together can live apart, and lead their own lives free from each other's constant presence.
The purpose of divorce is to formalise this separation, and share out rights to custody, properties, etc. under the supervision of the court, and to allow either party to (legally) marry someone else if they so wish.
When problems occur in a marriage, some couples decide to simply live separately, as they fear the stigma of a formal divorce, or because they are in full agreement about how to deal handle properties, money, children, etc., so see no need for legal interference, and neither party is interested in marrying anyone else any time soon.
But here, in this show- for the first time- we are seeing a couple who have got divorced, but for some reason, they are not yet separated. In fact, even one party's second marriage couldn't make this couple want to live apart.
My question is, what was even the point of getting divorced if this was what they were going to do?
Because both Anupama and Vanraj seem happy to live under one roof with each other, and neither of them really wanted to marry anyone else (let's be real, we all know Vanraj had zero interest in marrying Kavya, it was only Kavya, and then in the last minute Anupama who pushed for that wedding to happen). All of the children are adults, or very nearly there, so custody/child support is not an issue. And despite all the inconsistencies, one thing Anupama has always maintained that she wants no alimony, and has no interest in acquiring property rights.
So why exactly was Anupama insisting for divorce so much? Does anyone here actually get her logic at this point?
Because I definitely don't.
