Many times we have seen in movies as well as in real life that innocent girls fall for bad boys / playboys.

However, nowadays we are being shown the opposite scenario in movies.

Below are some examples :

Bitty in Bareilly ki barfi

Tanu in Tanu weds Manu

Vedika( Bhumi’s character) in Pati patni aur woh

Any of the above mentioned characters do not fit the bill to be called as a ‘good girl’ as per the typical Indian mentality, as inspite of being small town girls they are shown to be smoking, having multiple past (sexual)relationships etc.

So I was just wondering, does this happen in real life too?

Do Indian men fall for girls resembling the above mentioned characters?

Do men accept a girl in arranged marriage who smokes, drinks, abuses, is sexually active and talks openly about her past relationships?

They accept all of these, the actual modern problem starts when it's a career oriented girl. I mean people who don't do any of these but wants to work post marriage in a not so regular job. The problem is huge if it's a travel based job that requires to move cities for 10-15 days a month. It's funny how everyone tells to switch careers to get married🙄🙄🙄

Bollywood's new idea of modern women is as pathetic as their old idea of "Good, Sanskari Indian girl."

Cigarettes + Gaalis + Multiple partners = New age girl🤔👎🏼

Sorry, I don't agree. For me, a "modern" Indian girl is someone who is the decision-maker in her life, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, she has morals, integrity, character and depth.

A few good examples of modern female characters (old & new), who were less like fictional caricatures and more like real people.

Geeta from Seeta Aur Geeta
(She could kick ass, but had morals too. Certainly a character way... way... ahead of her time)
Stream Seeta Aur Geeta Online | 1972 Movie | Yidio

Manju from Khoobsurat
(Modern, but not presented as a "bigdail ladki". She had values👏At times, Manju felt like a time-displaced 21st century girl in a 1980 BW film.)

Milli from Rangeela
(It weren't just her clothes that were modern. Milli worked hard and fulfilled her dreams, but still kept her feet on the ground. 👏 Urmila at her best here.)

Nisha from Dil To Pagal Hai

(My most favt. character of all timesmiley9.Passionate, dreamy & good-at-heart. She takes her time to move on but doesn't come in-between Rahul & Pooja, despite her strong feelings.)

Vidya from Paa
(Very underrated character and film.)

Piku from Piku
(A regular, modern, Indian girl in a nutshell)

Datto from Tanu Weds Manu
(You don't need to look a certain way to be modern. Her personality said it all.)

Neerja from Neerja
(Needs no introduction. The fact that Neerja is a real-life story, makes it even from special.)

there are all kind of men/women in this world

i dont think drinking/smoking should be definition of "modern" because those are injurious to health but men/women still do not something proud to be of

but do girls in real life really do fall for bad boys?? or accept a bad boy in arranged marriage with drinking/smoking problem?? if they do then why?? why will you subject yourself to such a life partner

Some girls might say yes to a guy for arranged marriage because of his salary/family background/ looks etc. even if has had smoking/drinking habits and also the guy can easily hide these things from the girl before marriage, and after marriage the girl has no choice but to accept.

Usually I have seen girls like to date guys who are badass, those rough tough don/ gunda type guys (not me though) 😛.

Also some women date bad boys because they think they'll be the ones who can finally "change them" 😆

no times have changed nowadays every girl or even individual for that matter has lot of options being smart while taking such life altering decisions try not yo fall trap then comes counselling try to explain your husband why what he did was wrong and how things needs to change and if not divorce is always an option

😆 Not familiar with small town girls but I assume these girls are as similar to real life small town girls as SRK's Rahul and Raj are to our romantic partners. Neither Bitti not Tanu were supposed to be your typical modern (hate that word) girls and the movies make it clear. Bitti's character arc was she didn't fit in because she was different and Tanu's arc was that woman is a little 🤪

Bollywood men are so often shown smoking, drinking casually, having sex with girlfriends. No one questions it. No one wonders why that was shown and what is Bollywood trying to say about the entire male species in 2021. There are never articles about it or posts about it. But a female character is shown doing similar things and WOW! What a shame, how she is not a good girl anymore and it's a disgrace Bollywood is trying to say this is what new age women are like.
