While Asad learns how to lighten up from Zoya, the latter learns how to be serious on certain matters. Asad and Zoya are a dynamic duo that when put together can overcome any hurdle.

Starring Surbhi Jyoti and Karan Singh Grover, this show was uncommon because it revolved around a Muslim family. This show depicted a love story in a Muslim household. Surbhi Jyoti played Zoya Farooqi, an NRI girl who comes back to Bhopal to find her father and Karan Singh Grover as Asad Ahmed Khan, as the head of the Khan family where Zoya stays while in Bhopal. As they live under the same roof, their ideologies clash and they’re always at loggerheads. But as time passes and many events unfold, they begin to fall in love.

‘Qubool Hai 2.0’ Review: Romantic Thriller Sizzles With Chemistry

MUMBAI — Any connections with the TV series “Qubool Hai” (which ran in installments for fairly long many years ago) is restricted to the two lead players, their characters’ names and the common factor in Mrinal Jha. Otherwise, “Qubool Hai 2.0” merely uses the names, as we said, for a big-budget romantic thriller shot in Belgrade and (supposedly) in Pakistan.

Zoya (Surbhi Jyoti) escapes from an unwanted “nikaah” marriage in Belgrade and on the run, encounters Asad (Karan Singh Grover) by chance, who has come to the city to take part in a sharpshooter competition. Together, they outwit the goons whom Zoya’s would-be husband sends after them and finally reach the airport.

By this time, we know that Asad is no simple sportsman but has other shades to his persona, and is working for Indian espionage. It is also revealed that Zoya is the apple of the eye of her Pakistani defense minister father, Gen. Bakhtiyar (Arif Zakaria) who has kept her away from him for her safety. Asad is working for intelligence chief Malini Sood (Mandira Bedi) and is on a mission. Zoya and her father are the people he is after. But then, how does everything fit in? And what happens next?

On top of everything, the fluctuating relationship between Zoya and Asad is a crucial aspect. Then, there is Asad’s family in India that has to make do with rumors of his love affair with the girl and also worry because he has reached Pakistan by a chartered flight from Belgrade to drop her off safely. And finally, there is Asad’s job within Pakistan, with a rabidly anti-Indian Brigadier and a certain code that must be got by India.

What keeps this convoluted tale afloat are, one, the racy script with some superb dialogues and the terrific chemistry between the lead pair—the raison d’etre for them to be back in this similarly-titled series as their old serial. Surbhi Jyoti is, in one word, magnificent as the hot-headed, impulsive, Pakistani girl who has her own priorities. Karan Singh Grover is shown as a deadpan guy who rarely even smiles and acts with the required deadpan menace.

The supporting cast sees Arif Zakaria doing very well as the Brigadier who abuses India and Indians, while Gurpreet Bedi as Sana Shaikh, Zoya’s bestie, and Mandira Bedi as the businesslike Damini are excellent in relatively brief roles. The rest of the cast is good.

The action scenes are shot extremely well, and we don’t mean just the fight sequences as those who will watch the series will note. Full marks, also, to the cinematographer for his brilliant camerawork, both in the Belgrade locations and (what is shown as) Pakistan. The music is serviceable. The visual effects also are of high order.

The directors do a skilled job and the crisp length of each episode help. But the downer comes at the end. Cliffhangers now, reprehensibly, are an unavoidable part of most series looking ambitiously at another season, but in a romantic-cum-patriotic drama like this, they make for little sense. And here, the cliffhanger is particularly pointless and absurd.

Wish they had completed at least one angle of the story, the patriotic one or the romantic, if they wanted to keep things pending.

This also brings down my rating by half a star.

Karan Singh Grover and Surbhi Jyoti’s Qubool Hai 2.0 has opened to raving reviews and is thriving ever since. After a long wait of almost seven years, the AsYa fans finally got their Asad and Zoya back and how! While the lead characters and some of the supporting cast remained the same, Asad and Zoya’s love story got transported into an alternate universe. While Qubool Hai revolved around family drama, Qubool Hai 2.0 includes many other themes such as cross-border romance, patriotism, etc.

While everyone loved the gripping storyline and the undeniable chemistry between the leads, we couldn’t help but notice the impeccable fashion sense each of our leads showcased. Take a look at a few of our favourite Asad and Zoya’s outfits from the show.

Karan Singh Grover oozed charm in this dapper look. He wore a white shirt with a black tie, black blazer and matching pants. The addition of a black overcoat just elevated the look further.

One of the most iconic scenes in the series is the duo passing from one window to another on a high rise building. While Zoya looked adorable in one of Asad’s white shirts along with her ripped jeans and a denim jacket, Asad looked dapper in an all-black look sporting a turtle neck with a matching jacket.

You could never catch Asad Ahmed Khan in loungewear. Even when at the hotel, Asad wore a dark grey shirt with a lighter shade of pants. As he moved to the airport with Zoya, the look was completed with an addition of a matching pea coat.

Asad’s love for suits is quite evident from his Qubool Hai 2.0 style book. In this look, the actor sported a white shirt with a brown checkered waistcoat along with a matching blazer and pants.

Sometimes, only one shawl can make all the difference. Here, Karan Singh Grover’s Asad can be seen wearing a brown blazer along with a black turtle neck t-shirt and matching pants. The addition of the patterned shawl made his outfit look richer.

While almost every outfit of Asad and Zoya’s complemented each other, some of their outfits were even colour coordinated, like this one. While Asad wore a grey turtle neck t-shirt with a darker shade of pants, Zoya was seen in a grey slit Kurti with a floral printed shrug.

Another one of our favourites is Asad and Zoya’s airport look from the last episode. On one hand, Zoya wore a plain black Kurti along with a shrug of the same colour with white floral prints, paired with her iconic ripped jeans. And Asad was spotted wearing a plain white shirt with a black blazer, matching pants, and a black and grey shawl.

Not just Asad and Zoya’s outfits, but even their personalities complemented each other, every step of the story.

Actor Karan Singh Grover, who has often been the subject of severe trolling, says he no longer reads comments on social media.

The actor, who is quite active on social media, says there was a time when he would be affected and even block people who were trolling him. That doesn’t happen anymore.

“I don’t read comments. Initially, I used to make sure that there are no bad comments so that I could block people — so that there is no room for negativity. Now I don’t really need the comments,” Karan Singh Grover told IANS.

The actor, whose new series “Qubool Hai 2.0” recently dropped on OTT, says while the industry is not predictable, he is not insecure as an actor.

“I think everything, except government jobs, is insecure, security only comes there (in government jobs). You know you will be there for the next 30 years. With every industry, it’s not the industry (which is not secure), it’s the people. If you are secure with your art, there is no insecurity. There are a lot of reasons which could come up which will make a person feel insecure but that depends on people and not the industry,” he says.

The actor says stardom, which comes with being an actor, is something which is given to you by the audience. They are the ones who make actors larger-than-life.

“Stardom and everything that comes with being an actor or performer, is given to us by the audience. At the end of the day, we are entertainers. It’s the audience that makes stars and makes them larger-than-life. And if they want to make them larger-than-life, they would do this on any platform,” he says.

However, Karan says the expectations of the audience have changed.

“There are more expectations from the audience in terms of content. People are evolving and becoming intelligent and you can’t grip the audience with mediocre content. Even though someone might be called a star by the audience, if the content won’t stick, it won’t work. It’s actually about the content and how you can have your audience look at you and feel what you feel,” he says.

Qubool Hai fans are rejoicing on social media. The ZEE TV show is returning as a web series and this time it has been titled Qubool Hai 2.0. Moreover, Karan Singh Grover and Surbhi Jyoti are returning as the lead pair. Before the show could go on floors, Karan Singh Grover was sweating it out at the gym and getting ready for his role.

The lead pair of the show, Surbhi Jyoti and Karan Singh Grover, have already begun shooting for their show. The Qubool Hai 2.0 lead pair is currently in Belgrade, Serbia, busy shooting.

Karan Singh Grover even shared an update from Qubool Hai 2.0 sets. In the picture, Karan Singh and Surbhi are simply gazing at each other. Surbhi is dazzling in a white dress and what seems like a wedding outfit. While Karan is looking dapper in a black suit. Karan Singh Grover captioned this picture by simply writing, “Dejavu”. Qubool Hai 2.0 marks the comeback of the hit duo Surbhi Jyoti and Karan Singh Grover as Asad and Zoya on screen. The show is a digital adaptation of Zee TV’s very popular television show. The ZEE5 Original Qubool Hai 2.0’s trailer was recently released on the streaming platform and it certainly made us fall in love with Zoya and Asad’s chemistry all over again. The show is a romantic drama with an added theme of revenge and patriotism this time. It follows the story of Asad who is an Indian agent and Zoya who hails from Islamabad, Pakistan.

The close to 2-minute video starts with Asad Ahmed Khan ( Karan Singh Grover) getting ready for his mission. Then it shifts towards Mandira Bedi as an officer who says that she will keep a close eye on Zoya Farooqui. Later, there are several scenes where Zoya and Asad’s chemistry instantly takes us back in time to Qubool Hai days. While Karan is his usual disciplined self, Surbhi is a peppy and fun-loving girl who will strike a chord with you.

Talking about the theme of the show, the subject of patriotism is highlighted in one of the scenes where Mandira Bedia is seen telling Asad that his country needs him to accept this mission. There are shots of Asad fighting for Zoya as she sits next to him in the car. Later, an intimate moment between Asad and Zoya is also spotted in the trailer. In the last shots of the trailer, Asad fighting for his country against Pakistan. An important event of an Indian officer asking Asad to bring Zoya to India is also highlighted which shows his love would be at stake in the show and there will come a time when he’ll have to choose between his #LoveOrMission. The trailer ends with Zoya finding out that Asad killed her father while she is at the airport on her way to India.

The trailer looks interesting and it gives us an insight into Zoya and Asad’s #EternalLove. The leads – Surbhi Jyoti and Karan Singh Grover look amazing as they make a comeback after so many years. Their chemistry was widely loved before and now it looks even more engaging. Not to miss, Mandira Bedi’s character that looks powerful and mysterious. The theme of the show goes around an Indian agent who is on a mission to save his country. It would be interesting to see how Asad will fall in love with Zoya and eventually choose between his love for her or his country. The storyline looks fresh and the background music of Qubool Hai 2.0’s theme song has just added more depth to the trailer.

Zee TV’s hit show, Qubool Hai has finally gotten its web reboot. ZEE5’s latest release, Qubool Hai 2.0 is the hottest web series in the digital web space currently. As Karan Singh Grover and Surbhi Jyoti reprise their roles as Asad Ahmed Khan and Zoya Farooqui, their die-hard fans can’t keep calm about their new outing. Shot in Belgrade, and involving guns, flights and much more, this series is a great watch and here are all the reasons why you include it in your weekend watchlist.

Nostalgia

For those who have watched the daily soap version, you will immediately feel nostalgia seeping through you as you hear Zoya say, “Allah Miyan” and break into really bad shayaris once in a while.

The Return of Asad’s OCD

Asad’s OCD has also been retained, and so is his family – Dilshaad, Najma and Rashid. We love how years later these actors could reprise their roles and give us the feeling like they were never gone! This time around, Zoya is a popular romance writer whose books are widely read and enjoyed while Asad is a secret agent from India.

Surbhi and Karan’s Chemistry

Surbhi and Karan’s chemistry was widely appreciated in Qubool Hai and fans continue to root for them even after years. While the trailer was filled with lots of intimate moments between the couple, we bet that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Get Ready for Some Action

The action sequences in the series will definitely keep you engrossed. From the first chasing sequence and shootout when Asad and Zoya meet, there is always action about to spew in the show so beware of any guns pointed at any time! No one can be trusted! Asad is tough as a fighter and even tougher as a shooter. We love how cool and calm he can be and assess every situation. Meanwhile, Zoya also proves to be quite the action heroine at times when Asad lands in trouble while saving her. She hits goons with trays and saves her hero from knives!

Star Cast

New characters in the show are also interesting and the more they are shown, the more one wants to know more about them! Mandira Bedi is excellent as an intelligence officer and Lilette Dubey as Zoya’s Phuppi look promising and have layered characters. Even Zoya’s father, who dies, was a great and measured character in the show. If there is the second instalment of this series, we hope to see a backstory of these characters as well!

Director Ankush Mohla is the mastermind behind this project and does extremely well in giving this love story an international, yet domestic spin. While his direction is top-notch, it’s also admirable to see the patriotic twist he has introduced this time. Another great reason to watch the show!

Other than the thrill, there are some mystery and patriotic elements to the show that will surely catch your eye if you love shows belonging to this genre. The crackling chemistry between Asad and Zoya is just the cherry on top this series needs to become a hit!

The series ends when Zoya is asked to choose between Asad and her brother and his word. It’s not a cliched happy ending. In fact, it is far from it, which makes it even more interesting!

#AsYa’s first meet was no typical rom-com meet. It was anything but usual. The two crashed into each other like two tornados and immediately started with the cute banter that we missed over the years. This adorable intro meet was then followed by a thrilling car-chase, which just added more excitement to the scene.

Falling In Love(literally)

When Asad Ahmed Khan stands in front of you, in all his glory, how can you stop yourself from falling for him? Well, we definitely can’t and neither could Zoya. She could be seen falling for him while falling into his arms repeatedly.

Action Or Romance?

One of the most awaited scenes of the series was this nail-biting sequence. Asad swooped in like a knight in shining armour and saved Zoya from the goons. We all held our breaths with them as the duo travelled through the narrow path on this high rise building.

Locked In Love

Zoya is romantic at heart and this scene made it pretty evident. She took Asad to this famous tower to perform a love padlocks tradition. Although Zoya was unable to put the lock by herself, the moment Asad stepped in to help her, it just clicked, and so did their connection!

the second time around has been more electrifying and full of thrill in Qubool Hai 2.0. Asad is a professional shooter for India and Zoya is a romance writer and the daughter of the Defence Minister of Pakistan. They meet in Serbia in a chance encounter when Zoya runs away from her impending Nikaah and the rest is history. Not only are there a lot of action sequences and sizzling moments of passion, but there are also some great dialogues in the web series. Take a look at some of the best dialogues from 2.0!

The first time Asad and Zoya meet, Asad is about to hit Zoya with his car as she is running on the roads of Belgrade. They meet again when Asad is about to leave but comes back to save Zoya from goons that are chasing her. Then they meet again, and Zoya says this line that makes us believe that they’re meant to be together forever!

As Zoya and Asad continue to interact, they are often seen clashing. But they also have moments of silence where they acknowledge their attraction for each other and get lost in each other’s presence. Zoya confesses this in this dialogue and we love it.

But at that point, Zoya thinks that Asad knows nothing about her. Her author status or the fact that her father is a high ranking official in Pakistan’s government.

Asad’s character is shown to be very patriotic. While he is just an athlete, he believes that he is winning for the country and not for himself. When Mandira Bedi asks him if he is willing to do what it takes for his country, he simply says Qubool Hai!

When Asad and Zoya finally manage to get to the airport, they bid each other another final goodbye. They’re both emotional and don’t want to let the other go. There’s a sense of longing in their eyes and when Asad bids her goodbye, Zoya points out that it’s their third one in 30 hours!

When Asad proposes to Zoya, in a funny turn of events, he speaks the truth and only the truth. Instead of highlighting Zoya’s plus points, he points out her flaws! He calls her messy and talkative and then says this adorable thing!
