There is a reason the term "casting-couch" is spoken of in such contempt. A long standing affair instead of a one night stand doesn't give it any legitimacy either. Both parties are being unfair to all the other aspirants out there. It is every bit as bad as having a powerful relative who can get you through the door first. That said, nepotism is a fact of life and it's not going to go away. And sometimes nepotism(all kinds) gives some really good actors.

It might not be the most honorable way to get a head start in B'wood but to give you an example, it must have taken Katrina many sleepless nights and playing her cards right to date Salman and accrue the benefits of that relationship. Laying the groundwork for yourself in a place where no one knows you is the work nepo kids don't ever have to do because they have it all on a silver platter and therein lies the difference between the two. I can give you other examples that don't necessarily involve sleeping with influential men but the point would remain the same. The first party had to get their hands dirty and do a whole lot of schmoozing while the nepo kids are born into privilege and that alone takes them a long way. In rare instances, we get some good, competent actors out of both parties, sure.

As far as a level playing field goes, there is no such thing. We all come with our advantages and disadvantages, nepo kids are the most privileged in bollywood. It's silly to pretend that they are in the biz cuz they're God's gift to mankind.

Also, please don't think that I'm taking a stance for or against nepotism here, I've done enough of that in other designated threads in the past and am not interested in starting that debate here.

Dunno what it is called, sugardaddyism? 🤓 It's also not a good way to land roles but neither nepotism nor this get them roles without being called out for it with derision
