Yes it is. The formal definition of nepotism is "the practice among those with power or influence of favoring relatives or friends, especially by giving them jobs." Key word being friends here.
Yes those type of connections are also beneficial because they won't cast others as they know they are secured as movies will be guaranteed for them! I consider it favoring as they will keep casting their respective partners in their movies and won't give new people chances so that has always been happening.
I always wondered why urmila used to keep getting cast in rgv films and then found out a rumor about their affair!
Now it's nushrat who keeps getting movies due to her director !
Also we have seen many real life couples repeated in bollywood movies again and again so there we can see it how they choose their own bf/gf and wives/husbands.
Unfair for people who wish to make it in bollywoodđ

Not ... if they get something in return . Itâs not like parents doing everything they can using money , friendships and contacts for their kids.
Pretty sure they mint their moneyâs worth for the favors they do . itâs barter system not nepotism.
Maine Pyar Kiya Actress married someone post that film and said to producers just cast my husband. AN he wasn't even an actor
Thats no different than stuff Karan and Salman are accused of. Those practices have existed for years and will continue for more year
Cronyism it is I guessđ
Getting movies due to your bf/gf is not nepotism. It takes a lot of work for someone with a humble background to cut through the tight knit film industry and date someone influential enough in Bollywood to provide you that much needed "lift." Firstly, imagine the barriers.. and secondly, imagine the competition. Lastly, imagine the extent you need to go to gain that "competitive advantage" over others.
Make no mistake, there are not just long lines of aspiring actors and actresses outside the doors of these producers/directors/actors but also huge piles of love letters written in blood to impress them. You gotta stand out from the crowd and have the "right" looks, personality, charisma, and you gotta jump through oh-so-many hoops to impress that one head honcho/kingmaker enough for them to actually date you! Can you imagine how hard that must be? Let's give them credit there, shall we?
There's that and then there's nepo kids. What did they do to get movies... apart from popping out of their mommy-kapoor's womb? đ

Nevermind the "work" involved in dating a powerful producer,director,actor...whoever has enough clout to cast you. The point is that it's no longer a level playing field anymore. There is a reason the term "casting-couch" is spoken of in such contempt. A long standing affair instead of a one night stand doesn't give it any legitimacy either. Both parties are being unfair to all the other aspirants out there. It is every bit as bad as having a powerful relative who can get you through the door first. That said, nepotism is a fact of life and it's not going to go away. And sometimes nepotism(all kinds) gives some really good actors.
