Unnees bees ka fadak hain between Priyanka and Deepika. As I said, Priyanka is a slightly better actress but the difference is negligible.

Coming to Alia, I don't find her acting good at all. I cannot connect to Alia's acting at all, in any movie. Be it her or Kajol, they have these standard tricks which they bring to all roles, they both go OTT and bring in too many expressions to compensate for lack of skills, and maybe some people fall for these tricks. Overacting is not SIMPLY overacting, some actors like Hrithik and Ranveer are good actors who overact. Mostly, overacting is a way to compensate for lack of skills. It's a fine line to distinguish between underacting ( say someone like Siddharth Malhotra), pitch-perfect acting(Kangana Ranaut) and overacting(Varun Dhawan).

She was superb in Chennai Express -- Piku, Cocktail, Chennai Express and Tamasha are her best performances, followed by Finding Fanny, YJHD, Ram Leela and Chapaak. She was decent in Bajirao Masrani as well, I think she performed pretty well and yes, she was overshadowed by Priyanka because of the sympathy factor. No other reason.

I haven't watched too much of her work pre-Cocktail. She was decent in Break Ke Baad, Lafangedy Parindey, and Kartik Calling Kartik, the 3 movies of hers which I have watched. She was bad in Chandni Chowk to China and Houseful from what I have seen of clips, but she didn't really have a space to emote in these 2 movies.

Deepika is a pretty good actress, and has really slogged to reach where she is today.

Yes! Deepika is excellent in comedy, it's mainly those kinds of roles that I love her for ❤️... She was really good in all the ones you mentioned, and also in the otherwise horrible Happy New Year, which she made watchable just with her performance...

I agree that she was actually decent in Bajirao Mastani, but PC ended up overshadowing her mostly because of the characterisation... like not to say Priyanka wasn't amazing in that role, but the story played out in such away that it was kind of impossible to understand or empathise with Mastani... the character looked like a selfish, delusional and desperate homewrecker who went chasing after a man who was ready to forget her. On the other hand Kashibai was written as a mature, proud, and strong but forgiving lady... Of course we're all going to like her better, that's what the makers wanted!

And I agree completely that Deepika is a good actress who worked hard to get where she is... it's a shame that people don't see that because of her glamourous image...

Exactly. It's like the fact that she's a complete package takes away from her acting skills. It happens with Hrithik also, but far less than Deepika.

Deepika in her 7 lives cannot pull off something like Suzanna/Sonia/Jhilmil or even Kashi for that matter but PC can slay it as menamma (Deepika's accent was horrible in the movie) or Piku. Chappak toh the less said the better I didn't find her performance praise worthy she was plain bad. It also doesn't help that Parvati killed it in Uyare which released before chappak.

So IMO unees bees Ka farak Nahi hai 1900-2000 Ka hai where DP is 19 and PC is 1900

The setting is to blame. I don't think Alia was that bad. Vicky and Taapsee's scene was quite powerful because of good writing as well as because of their acting. Both of them were good. Alia and Ranveer was not too bad, but both the writing and their acting was not as strong as the former. But it's enough for that film.

She is pretty convincing, and she is more muted than Priyanka, but the scene demands that. At no point did I feel she was getting overshadowed.

Talking of overshadowed, Priyanka gets royally overshadowed by Kangana here.

I don't know exactly what characteristics Mastani and what characteristics Kashi Bai were supposed to have. Both of them had very, very similar scenes in the movie and Priyanka overshadows Deepika in every single one of them and by a lot. She actually makes Deepika look like an average actress.

As for this Kangana Priyanka scene, Kangana doesn't seem natural to me but good for her for overshadowing Priyanka in a scene where Priyanka only says two words and just stares at her the whole time.

Alia's acting is so incredibly mediocre...just flaring nostrils and screeching...

I am not a big fan of Alia's acting but I found that scene very natural. I am an expert at crying/fighting with boyfriends on the phone and this was on point. The way you have a hard time speaking, the way you feel so angry that you want to scream but you have to continue talking like a sane rational person, the way you are hurting and trying to stop yourself from bawling your eyes out to seem all calm. Alia expressed all of that. So nose flaring is definitely an issue for Alia but that acting was good in my opinion.

Plzzz there is no comparison of Priyanka and Alia

I remember watching BM and then Dil dhakadne do

I couldn't even remember those two played husband and wife and had powerful dialogue ,they appeared so natural as siblings ,that is called acting

For Alia , I can't even differentiate badri and humpty

God forbids if varun and alia decide playing sibling someday it will look like Incest to me
