I've not sorted out 70s ones, just penned down the classics that came to mind.

I've not sorted out 70s ones, just penned down the classics that came to mind.
As folks mentioned:
- Any Hrishikesh Mukherjee movie. Except Jhooth Bole Kauwa Kate. :)
- Rajesh Khanna early socio dramas. E.g. Bawarchi, Anand
- Amol Palekar movies (Recommend ChitChor, GolMaal (Old), Chhoti Si Baat)
- Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron (Black Comedy, not very uplifting though, so skip if you're grumpy)
- Chashme Buddoor (Old) {Random Rant: Why the f&&& Farah Khan thinks she's a pioneer female director. Sai Paranjpaye directed this, and Farah can't direct a movie that comes any close)
- Chameli Ki Shaadi (after this movie I actually started watching older Bollywood movies)
- Angoor (I consider this, Chupke Chupke & Gol Maal (Old) as the best comedies in Bollywood)
Angrezi mein bolenga toh:
- The Sting (my fav Hollywood movie)
- The Graduate
- Breakfast at Tiffany's
- Roman Holiday
- Indiana Jones series (one way street, no turning back once you're hooked, beware!)
- Brief Encounter (British)
- Double Indemnity (not feel good, beware, but good repeat value)
- Chinatown (see how botched up Manorama Six Feet Under is comparatively)
- Citizen Kane (first classic I watched, transfixed, on DD Metro, realized years later that it was a classic)
- The Wizard of Oz (timeless, family watch)
Wow, thank you ever so much for this! Will check mot of these out!!

I tried watching Citizen Kane and got bored after 30 minutes. I don't know if I should continue or not but I still got a copy of it from my old laptop. 😒
