I have confirmed some things recently regarding the topic we had discussed. Dronacharya rejected to take Karna as a student because he was a neither a kshatriya nor the son of a king. Karna then questioned him about Ashwatthama who was also Drona's disciple even though he was neither of the two but a brahmin's son. Drona could not answer anything because clearly he was very biased and Karna went away with his question. His only guru was Parshuram.

Also Karna did go to Draupadi's swayamvar but he was not allowed to compete and humiliated again for being a suta-putra by Draupadi herself. Were he allowed to compete, he would have surely won because he was capable enough to pierce through the eye of the fish.

I know I might be wrong honey. I just reiterated what I found in the KM Ganguly and the Kaliprasanna versions. 😳

However, the exact version that you're talking about was shown only in BRC, and has been copied ever since.

I don't think Drona was teacher before he entered HP. He had his own very motive to teach kuru princes he did not need Eklavya or that matter Karna, he had Arjuna to do his work.

Precisely! Drona told Karna that he took only kshatriyas or children from royalty as disciples but Ashwatthama was still trained by him even though he didn't belong to that category because he was his son. He was clearly biased.

He was power hungry and blinded in love for his son.

Hello All,

Joining in on the discussions.

Enjoyed today's episode. The Rangbhoomi is one of my favorite part of the Mahabharata.

The Karna-Arjuna feud is very interesting and tragic too.
