Sunny Deol, who also starred in the original Border (1997), recently discussed his decision to join the cast of Border.
During the recent song launch of Ghar Kab Aaoge from Border 2, Sunny revealed that his father, the legendary actor Dharmendra, was the reason he agreed to do Border. Sunny told the media, "I did 'Border' because when I saw my father's film 'Hageegat'. I liked it a lot. I was very young then. When I became an actor, I decided that I would also do a film like my father".

Border 2 will feature Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty alongside Sunny Deol. Varun Dhawan will portray PVC Hoshiar Singh.
