I didn't watch the show but I saw the clips Filmfare put on their instagram and it was so bizarre.

Ayushman gave a tribute to Amitabh, SRK and Salman and danced to their songs.

Kartik danced to 90s/00s songs so basically again SRK, Salman, Hrithik type songs

Then there was a performance from the golden era - from the 60s I guess. I think Vicky did that one.

Madhuri also danced to old songs giving a tribute to female singers.

Akshay did some desh bhakti thing and continued his annoying brand.

Most of it was a nostalgia show about actors and eras that people care more about. So strange.

This is just based on the clips I saw. If it was anything different, feel free to correct me.

RS deserved the award for GB.. as far as shahid is concerned. it was a remake first of all and Shahid although he did a good job was same as VD ( he was top class) .

Loud acting needs to be appreciated? well I thought people said it shouldnt be during Padmaavat , that Shahid as Rawal Ratan > Ranveer as Khilji coz anyone can do loud acting, it is difficult to portray brooding subtle characters?

Since when can’t actors in remakes win awards ? The entire cast of Devdas won awards and that was a remake?

Plus Gully Boy itself is also ripped off from 8 mile, it’s not exactly an original story

Why would Devdas get pushback? It was a movie that gained worldwide attention?

And Gully Boy did too to some extent but NOT because of Alia or Karan.

not just about the actors. RS winning was not a huge controversy imo. As he was one of the strongest performers this year.

Ananya Panday for best debut...Alia for best actress ..these were all controversial

lots of films were sidelined..be it super 30, kabir singh, URI, etc. so many

also apna time aayega winning vs terri mitti (wtf? really.)

Dont think its about a favorite winning or not. I know some alia fans who still questioned her win. People who loved gully boy and its songs, but though terri mitti should have won. Its about what is right and wrong at this poiint.

Yeah Ananya winning for debut and Abhimanyu for debut were questionable.

The guy from Mardaani/ Sidhant shouldve won for debut.. Abhimanyu was good in Mard ko dard nahin hota but the other two were far superior.

Sidhant wont supporting actor, that shouldve gone to Vijay Varma who played Moeen in GB.

Most people are just upset their favs didn't win. They're not really here for awarding true talent. 2019's most outstanding performances for me were Anjali Patil (Mere Pyaare Prime Minister and Rasika Duggal (Hamid) but I don't see ANYONE fighting for them to be on the ballot. They're just mad Kangana or Priyanka didn't win. Or they just don't like Alia. Yawn.

Filmfare has been snubbing talent since it's inception.

Nargis has 2 nominations in her entire career and 1 win.

Madhubala has 1 nomination and 0 wins.

Dimple Kapadia won Best Actress aged 16 in a category that had Nutan (Saudagar) - in which she showcased the same talent if not less than Ananya Pandey in her first film.

It's always been a popularity contest. No idea why people are crying even louder this year. I think everyone wants to fight for something on the internet instead of real life politics.

In 2003 they gave Best Debut to Lara and Priyanka (for Andaaz) because it looked good for PR. Bhumika Chawla was also in the nominees list but she didn't win. However Bhumika was nominated for Best Actress - how does that work?

There are hundreds of discrepancies like that since the 1950s.
