Just watched John Abraham starrer "No Smoking" movie and found it absolutely entrancing! Still Pretty shocked that audience didn't accept the film back then. The movie was ahead of it's time. Had it been released in this timeline, then probably it would earn a lot like Andhadhun. It can be considered as one of the masterpiece Psychological Thrillers in Bollywood. If you have watched the film, what's your review on it? And how do you explain the ending of it?

******Spoilers ahead.......(don't read below if you haven't watched the movie yet)******

Different people explained different ending for this film. From my viewpoint what I think is that it was all on John's mind whatever his character faced in the film. He was already guilty of the illness of his brother and his wife that they were going through coz of his smoking habit. So when finally his wife admitted him to a rehab then he started to see the doctor (Paresh Rawal) as Bengali Baba and started to portray him as an evil person. The story all started after his mind was highly intoxicated with his own imaginations. And the last scene where he saw his fingers cut off was symbolic to the fact that he had finally stopped smoking, because those were the fingers through which the smokers take puff. Even though he stopped smoking, but he couldn't recover his mental illness till the end, that's why he had seen his fingers chopped off while in actual they were intact.

There were some visualization effects which were done brilliantly to give hints that these were all part of his dreams (those wave effects), Anurag Kashyap brilliantly took care of every detail.

Madhuri's Gaja Gamini, directed by India's Picasso, the great MF Hussain was more profound, with layers & layers to explore.

This one is more on a pretentious side

@Bold: Sadly it depicts that how much ignorant most of the audience were back then. Nowadays people are more into complex stories rather than those cliché rom-coms.

Definitely you should re-watch it if in case you enjoy thrillers then.
