On topic , I don't think MJ is Rudra's stepfather . Reason is simple. The reason Maya is going after Rudra and Rishi are only and only because they're MJ's sons , though she knows they're innocent people and don't even know her , let alone play any part in her tragedy. But she considers it justified because they're MJ's blood and therefore must pay for their father's sin and also because hurting them will in turn hurt MJ.

Now , a guy like MJ would care a damn about what fate befalls Rudra if he were not his blood. He would fake some fatherly concern for Rudra in front of the world and his wife , but really would feel nothing if Maya ruins him. So the very fact that Maya is going after them, proves that they're both his sons.

Some thing happened 5 years back that caused Rudra's relationship with his father to sour. Could be so many things. But most probably , it involves cheating ( since the whole "chodne ki himmat line to his mom ) and money laundering from innocent people, which makes him so avidly against the very idea of taking his money . It has to be more than about carving a niche or identity on his own.

I think you may actually be right but we can't say anything with certainty. And indeed after reading the WU for episode 3 (I haven't watched it yet) I agree that MJ wouldn't give a damn if Rudra wasn't his son so your points make a lot of sense.

I had the same thoughts about the best friend thing but I don't think Rudra and Ananya are going to have a scene. We all could see a spark between Arjun and Saanj and somewhere realized that they were going to end up together, sooner or later. But I don't feel that about Ru-Nya. however, I adore their friendship
