Bilkul aisa bhi nahi tha..it had a good storyline but not handled properly..

The sex and profanities seemed forced ..not seamless.

On the first line, I wish but: kanya-daan.

Even in my religion, some clerics actually preach, that I need permission from a male member before going out🙄

I agree with you on those deleted parts. Movies aren't solely responsible for people doing what they do, good or bad. But art doesn't always imitate life, sometimes the reverse is also true, and more often than not, in a negative way.

May be stop bringing religion in a discussion about movies for people to take you seriously

Movies infl;uence society EXACTLY BECAUSE movies are inspired - generally- from society.

All media is an influencer- the YT vloggers are even called that: influencers.

And, of course, upbringing and moral codes also influence each of us.. but some are more naive..or trust movies too much into configuring their path in life... in general, those are teenagers..or adults with some mental 'issues' already formed/developing...

There are murderers that admitted -after being caught- that they've got their 'ideas' from watching crime shows/movies..or even got knowledge on how to obtain ..items ..or how not to leave traces..

People are social creatures. As social constructs we cannot live without interaction ..and we also cannot develop, good or bad, without absorbing from social stimuli.

So it's up to filmmakers to ensure they deliver the clear message: this is not reality, any crime is punishable and morally wrong ..and so on.

Also, it depends on the level of trust ..towards movies..that a nation has in general.

Kabir Singh would have been BOOED out of the theatres in the West. Even men would have claimed they are not paying money to see an abusive guy- even if SOME of them might have enjoyed it, secretly.. But in Western society such movie will generally fail at box office (I think the only 'market' the makers could have targeted in the West would have been the NRIs..).

To try excuse any crime by claiming you watched a movie is , though, just a shoddy way to escape justice and try blame others for your evil doings.

Sure social message movies are hailed.. movies like Queen and EV are welcomed because that's what women these days already relate to.. that's what they want for the most part.. it's not like Queen or EV showed women that they can be free and there is more to life.. women these days already know that.. it's because this is what they want that they find these movies so inspiring

I am pretty sure candle marches were held before RDB... Weren't they alsoheld during Jessica Lal case?

https://www.nytimes.com/2006/03/13/world/asia/13iht-india.html

An excerpt from the NYT article.

"Indians have flocked into the streets for marches and rallies, including a candlelight vigil at the capital's most famous monument, the Gateway of India, an event that resembled a scene from a movie. That was because it was lifted from a scene from a movie, a recent Bollywood blockbuster called "Rang De Basanti," about a group of Indian college students rising up against an inept state bureaucracy. The film featured a scene of a candlelight vigil at the same spot to protest the killing of an innocent young man"
