Baal baal bache. Twice he has had a lucky escape. Ranveer Singh, it is now revealed, was the first choice for the role of the dwarf hero in Aanand L Rai's Zero. In fact the discussions were done and the deal was closed. Ranveer was all set to start shooting when Shah Rukh Khan not only showed interest in the role; he also offered to step in as the producer.

"The cast was changed overnight and Ranveer found himself out of Zero, making way for Shah Rukh Khan. Now that Zero is showing every sign of being a box office disaster Ranveer must be having the last laugh, says a source in the know.

This is not the first occasion when Ranveer has been unceremoniously dumped for a bigger star. In 2015 Ranveer was all set to play the lead Anurag Kashyap's Bombay Velvet when Ranbir Kapoor showed a keen interest in the film. Kashyap changed the cast without even informing Ranveer.

And everyone knows what happened to Bombay Velvet.

I think it is true. Salman recommended this film to SRK.

So many hurdles and humiliations at every step despite being talented and charismatic enough and actually getting the role. It shows it is not an easy walk for an outsider like Ranveer. Bravo for him for being where he is now. It is not a simple thing to be at a place where he is. I hope more to come for him and he achieve an even more better place.

Being Ranveer, he would have probably felt bad for SRK and team for Zero's failure like he did for BV. If any other person is in his place, he would have laughed.

What. Is this for real? Damn. Karma is one amazing bitch then. I need some actual source for the zero bit. Salman was the first choice tho? What the eff. And Anurag Kashyap and Ranbir, am so glad you two had your asses handed to you for BV. Rightfully so. 😆

Hantel mentioned this just a few days back, that a Ranveer fan had posted an article in 2015-16 that Ranveer was working next with ALR after Salman rejected his film. So lets not blame the PR for making up false stories again.

Director Aanand L Rai's next is in the news for its ongoing rounds of casting.

Salman Khan's name was the first to surface for this ambitious project, in which the protagonist reportedly plays a dwarf. The actor was keen, though he wanted some secrecy on the subject. But before he knew, everyone was talking about it. And the next thing we heard was that Salman had turned down the film.

Round two, Shah Rukh Khan's name cropped up for the same role. But the 'Tanu Weds Manu' director brushed it off saying it was just speculation. Now, round three. According to our source, Ranveer Singh is in the reckoning for this film. Neither the actor nor the director confirmed the news, but Eros, the corporation backing the project, didn't deny it.

Everyone knows how Ranveer does not believe in shortcuts, in fact, he goes to extremes to get into the skin of his character.

So we are guessing, he wouldn't mind going half his size to tap his full potential. Well, that's the 'long and short' of this story for now.

In 2016 Ranveer was spotted at ALR's office many times. Then befikre happened 😆 rest is history! Honestly ALR was getting a package of a superstar, actor and a producer with deep pockets only a loon will give it up no one is at fault. It was just not meant to be Ranveer's film just like how BV was not. So its better they just give it a rest.

He was out of the project before Befikre, because Befikre released in Dec 2016.
