You are right that Mahesh is inconsiderate to other people's emotions/feelings and dominating too. But thats his charac and he is reacting this way becoz he needs that NOC from Naresh's father much to his chagrin. Also he believes that Jiya is dumb and dependent so marriage is the only option. But his charac will have a change of heart slowly, dont worry😳

I agree he is in tension because he wants to clear his name. I think slowly he will realize that jiya is capable of more then he ever realized. and then he will start to appreciate her 😳
