I love love love Mauli and only watch this show for her. I recently realized how much the writers also like her and purposely make her a character you want to root for. They could easily turn this into a Mauli bad, KuNan good at anytime. But they keep on making Mauli positive. They keep her loving and kind. They keep her dignified.
I haven't seen today's episode but as I was watching the behind the scenes videos of Kunal yelling at Mauli I was wondering why would they purposely make Kunal so mean and disgusting. This is not even a matter of pov where some might say Kunal is right for yelling at her and some might say he is not. Kunal is objectively wrong here because he is yelling at her for making Nandini leave which Mauli has not done. Kunal is blaming her when she is innocent and viewers know that with a certainty. I think except for few blind fanatics almost everyone will root for Mauli over Kunal in this situation and it is not because Mauli was just born great. The writers are purposely writing her as a great character, as a likable character at the expense of Kunal and sometimes Nandini.

Because she is a character who has not only done no wrong to anybody, but also never thought wrong for anyone and helped the people she loved, including shown unwavering trust on two people who went on to take advantage of her trust and not think twice about how she would feel, so obviously the writers are going to write scenes in favour of making her character look good, because she is a character being wronged for no fault of her own despite all the good she has done. Why would the writers want to make the people who have wronged someone look better than the person they have wronged?

Bold 😆 kya ghuma k mara n i totally agree. Even tho I love DD but this is the worst show she has taken

Mauli ki character pe i have to disagree with u at certain points. Her character is purposefully written in a simple manner so that every girl can connect with her. Her character is not complex or does not have many shades. Its a total white character. I liked her charater prior to this whole get kunal back mission.
Now i can't anymore relate to her. 2 reasons.
1. Her character also did a 360 degree turn
2. She is ending up like cliche. Running behind kunal.
I still like her the most n she is the only reason y most of the ppl r still bearing this show. I wish they do justice to mauli's character. Right now where itsi headed i am not so sure about it.
I totally agree with u on the yelling thing u said. Kunal is the pathetic lead i have seen in ages.

Agree. coz, in one way I guess, writers want to differentiate the characters Mauli and Nandini even when they put under more or less same situations. Apart from showing Mauli as strong, independent and Nandini as weak, they may try to show some difference in same situations like, When Nandini was with Rajdeep and got pregnant, she thought that child will bind them together. But Mauli clearly doesn't want to use her pregnancy to bind the relation between her and Kunal. Now also, like Nandini, Mauli also failed in her marriage, writers may have something to show here too. Letz see.

yes i agree.. i always keep telling people in mauli's AT that mauli is something different and she is no regular indian tv wife or bahu..
did any of us expect the way she reacted when she got to know about her husband and frnds affair?? nope.! that was epic.. she is far far away from our imagination.. she is the best indian tv female character i have seen till date..
they always back up her deeds with solid reasons. be it asking nandini to return her husband or be it her staying with kunal. everytime there is a solid background.

also she is a very balanced character. she kept her ego aside and tried to make her marriage work.. it takes a lot much courage to do so..
but she is not compromising with her self respect in all this..
she is submissive but not subservient.

Good post. I started by being a Mauli fan but now I am on the verge of quitting the show because of how blatantly biased the writers are towards Mauli.
This show revolved around three characters- Mauli, Nandini and Kunal but K&N have always got the shorter end of the stick in order to glorify Mauli. I read so many posts that makers are trying to white wash Nandini which is the exact opposite of what is actually being shown. Are the writers not capable enough to write K&N well? Definitely not. Look at Mauli and how well she is written. It's just that they are NOT interested to write K&N well. Their sole focus is Mauli and how much more they can glorify her and sadly it's coming at the expense of K&N.
And you cannot continue watching the show if the makers are obsessed with one character and continue to write exclusively for her and not give a damn about the rest of the core cast. All of them make the show, and not just one person.
I am no fan of Drashti or Shakti but I am really surprised that they continue to stick with this show despite suffering from poor characterization episode after episode.

Kunal and Nandini are perhaps the two worst characters ever written. Not because they r flawed but they r so inconsistent n now makers want to screw the one character which has not been tainted - Mauli. I was so hoping they will show her as an independent woman who values her self respect. But now they will turn her into a jealous ex n how many more times will Kunal break her heart?

Because the writer's clearly now don't want to justify kunal-nandini betraying mauli in the name of love. Their writing for kunan is now solely that nandini came out of an abusive marriage, made the mistake of falling for her best friend's husband and having an affair with him just because she thinks he is better than her now ex-husband and to fill the void of love in her own life at the expense of ruining her best friend's marriage, whilst kunal is just a straight up unfaithful cheat who fell for a girl who was an abuse victim that started with sympathy and seems to think his affair with nandini is justified on the basis of emotions.

Kunal and nandini's character's clearly are only written to serve the purpose of showing viewers one angle to why people cheat and to give the message that emotions aren't enough of a justification to betray a person's love, trust and to overstep the boundaries of marriage. The writers don't want to write scenes that make their affair seem justified, hence why they are both shown shamelessly acting like mauli doesn't exist half of the times and ignoring taunts of society to continue their affair; because the writers want to show that these two think that love and emotions justify their affair.

That is becoz writer is capable of writing one dimensional characters more beautifully.I hv followed her female leads from decade be it Simran from Astitav, Jyoti from jyoti ,Anadi from BV and now Mauli from Silsila i found these characters quiet similar and I don't think she is anymore capable of writing complex and flawed characters Kunal and Nandini.Although there were grey characters in BV i don't hw Gajra wrote them but they were fab .Watching Silsila i think Gajra is only focused one character that is Mauli other two characters hv just become means to carry the story foward. When the show started i thought we get to watch the perspective of all three characters but no here only mauli self talk and thoughts are shown.Monologues 4 nandini and kunal are missing. If she wanted to tell the story of mauli why such big names were casted for other two characters some other actors would hv done the fine job but in reality Drashti and Shaktiwere only there to lure the audience.I think these actors should give up the show as they are surely capable of acting more than show piece in the show.Vaise bhi they are only increase the budget of show.

I think Mauli is complex. I would say her complexities have been explored better than Kunal or Nandini's. Mauli is out and out a positive character with no shades of grey so far but she is not plain. Mauli's reaction to the whole affair shows there are so many layers to her.

Sometimes Mauli is insecure so she wonders what could she have done wrong, sometimes she is confident and she tells him it was him who was wrong. Sometimes she is furious at Kunal, other times she is still in love with him. She dislikes Kunal and doesn't want to see him but she cares for him and takes care of him every time there is a need. She is trying to put this behind her and walk away so she files for a divorce, but she also doesn't want to give up on her marriage so easily. There is a lot of inner conflict in Mauli that might come across as bad writing. I don't think it is bad writing, it is simply Mauli struggling with her inner thoughts.

What I love most about Mauli is that there is rage! That is so rare in positive Indian television bahus. She is so pissed that she taunts Kunal anytime he speaks to her. She doesn't know how to keep all that anger and bitterness down unlike other tv savitris. In the latest behind the scene episode Mauli is breaking mirror and screaming because Kunal just hurt her ego. She is so angry. Anger is a beautiful thing for characters and it is rarely given to good indian bahus unless they are dealing with villains.
