I keep seeing this around the forum - that people are saying now that this #MeToo thing has blown up bunch of stars are giving statements and taking stands...and the question that is kept being asked is "why didn't they take a stand before"

First of all - this is Bollywood and its not easy to take a stand against bigwigs. Right now the media/society have created an environment where people can freely speak about this as its a "collective" movement. Perhaps we are moving in a direction where even big stars can be called out but you cannot shame people for not speaking out - its not that easy and in the past we were in a different mindset...Remember what happened to Aishwarya when she went against Salman? She was nearly thrown out of the industry, god knows how she survived that. Vivek tried to speak out against him as well and his whole career got destroyed - that's what happens when you open your mouth.

Also - please understand the difference between lying/cheating and harassment. THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING. So before people go on rants to speak about Akshay, Ajay or Amitabh...you have to know the difference between cheating and harassing/raping/molesting.

Thank you!

As ig I took a stand against family members I know who did questionable things! I completely agree that it's wrong to shame people for not speaking up. Nobody wanted to be Vivek Oberoi! Now the situation is more conducive to speaking up so people are.

I know people are saying it is hypocritical to speak now. But I am sooo glad they're speaking even if hypocritical. It's a huge step. People are now scared of associating with harassers cus of SM pressure. I really have a feeling a floodgate is gonna open on BW harassment. I hope I am not proved wrong!
Just few days ago on forum we were all so sure no metoo stories will come out on Subhash and it did. Hoping for an outpouring soon

Yes. Victims are speaking out now because situation is conducive and there is social media outrage on the issue at this point. They would have got zero support in the past. Stars who were always aware of it and probably indulging in it are also speaking out because of the same reason.

It's not that cases were not reported earlier. There were similar allegations and cases against Madhur, Shakti Kapoor and even Govinda but they all managed to escape punishment and nobody boycotted them. Shiney Ahuja also managed to get some work and then even Kangana said she doesn't get scared of him in spite of him being a proven rapist. Now the same people are getting scared of being associated with such predators and offenders but earlier the same were willing to work with them. Now their reputation is also at stake which is something positive happening now. Glad that the hypocrites also are acting positive and hope this movement doesn't die down and fake cases are not reported which would simply destroy the meaning of everything.

I'm sure that almost every actor is involved in such cases so we cannot rule out AB, Salman, Ajay or Akshay too. However, it would take time that the victims come out and speak against them.

They would have simply landed in a legal mess if they spoke earlier. It was all gossips and rumours. They had no concrete proofs to back their claims. There is also a possibility they didn't know the victims personally to verify. Social media has made it easier not only for the victims to find a platform to speak it has also helped others to come and support them now. Maybe its not absolutely correct but it is also not completely wrong. We are simply diluting the issue here by blaming people for being quiet or supporting them. Keep the focus on the criminals. Don't let them hide or get away using the diversion.

Nana Patekar did take a stand
He refused to work with Sanju and Sallu cause of all the cases and convictions. I remember people were applauding him. They were even claiming he does real charity over the likes of Salman. Now what has he turned out 😆 😆😆

A big pervert 😆😆😆

Everyone's acting as if they didn't know what was going on in the industry when we forum people discussed all their shenanigans with such minute details...

So please stop defending these bollywood hypocrites. They don't deserve your sympathy. 🥱

But we don't have the responsibility that these stars carry with them. If u compare it with ur office gossips and rumours. Does that sound so easy to distance urself and stop working based on it. How will u answer and justify ur decision. Forum members come here for timepass read blind , give their opinions and leave. Nobody is going to ask us to justify. Our career is not on stake here. I m saying this in general terms. Not on case to case basis. I m sure some of them knowingly shielded their friends and family. I m also sure some of them are actually involved in these stuffs and haven't been named here. But that doesn't mean everybody is wrong for keeping quiet.
