it was a good film..with a good plot line...bit dramatic but it was a norm then i guess..the movie really picked up after Sunny's entry...one of the best characters...his and ambrish puri scenes were really good..esp the dialogues..
it was a progressive movie except for the part where meenakshi's character goes all mere pati parmeshwar scenes..that was quite cringy..except for that really good film

That's bad then that Meenakshi didn't get the award. Sunny and Minakshi deserve it.

I saw the movie today. Very nice movie-when BW still made good movies which weren't like parodies. Music, direction acting everything was great. Meenakshi Sheshadri did a great job and such an underrated actress and beauty.

I was reminded of The Changeling and how Angelina Jolie was sent to the mental hospital just like Damini for standing up to the men in those times.
Sunny Deol did quite a good job here. The film really picks up when he comes onscreen. All his lines are top notch.
Unfortunately tareekh pe tareekh is still true for Indian courts. Even today, there is no change and cases drag on for decades. Corruption in judiciary is worse than ever before when judges openly take foreign money and a CJI wanted foreign lawyers to practise in India. No wonder naxals and terrorists smile and say with confidence and say that we trust the courts. Who created this system of Justice is Blind? When i was little I thought that seems so weird. How can a blind dispense justice?
Witnesses are bought, killed. Fake witnesses are produced out of thin air. Judges want only direct witnesses? What about when there are no such witnesses? Do the judges even have brains to glean circumstantial evidence? We talk about star kids but what about star kid lawyers and judges who share a cosy nexus? There was a petition in kerala recently where some lawyers had requested that they too be considered for posts not just star kids.
These judges think they are gods in india when they have lesser brains than a class 4 student. Didn't one judge ask how does algae fly in the Taj Mahal restoration case? Stupid fellows don't know class 4 science and spores. Let's just hope some Indian judge doesn't read this and slap contempt of court on me since some judges do that for any criticism in India in the air, 6 foot under the earth or wherever.
Gangrapists should get death even if they're 17.

Damini was a fantastic movie where everything was top notch be it the script or acting or songs.
During 80's and 90's, To show a villain as evil , they used to show a rape scene.

This was a movie which shows Rape to happen in a high society household where a man and his friends rape a maid on the festival of Holi and how they pressurize the son and DIL to cover it up for family's sake. While Son falls prey to it, DIL's conscience doesn't allow her to.

This was unique and never before shown and I liked the narrative of it. While Rishi Kapoors character was disliked by many. I can completely understand why he did what he did. On one hand he loved Damini and wanted to stick to the truth but on the other side, being the elder son of the family, being pressurized by family who even threaten to kill themselves and emotionally blackmailed him to cover up. Rishi did well.

Sunny's role was a big HIT coz he came as the knight in shining armor, in all the negativity and darkness, he comes as the light. Thats why he was a HIT and he did well

However its Amrish Puri who stood out as the evil lawyer. I mean he had that stature. I mean if sunny did not have a stature like Amrish Puri against him , his act wouldn't have been such a HIT.

Anyway loved the movie

Fantastic movie. Performance of the actors, story, direction everything was superb. Some parts are a bit dramatic but i guess it was necessary as well.

Good movie, but the last 15 minutes of the movie was too over the top with all the clapping from the audience, villains trying to kill main characters, life lessons given in form of speeches in the court room.

One of my favourite movies.
From Meenakshi to Sunny to Amrish everyone played their parts really well.
