Baaghi 2 Has Very Strong Second Weekend

Baaghi 2 did very well in its second weekend with business of 20.25 crore nett which takes the total ten day business to 131 crore nett. The drop is there of 72% from the first weekend but that is because the first weekend was huge and also aided by the first day holiday. If we take the holiday factor then the drop goes to under 70% which is good for an action film like this.

The film is on course to be the second biggest nett grosser on a non holiday after Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani which released in 2013. All the films above Baaghi 2 barring Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani are not only holiday releases but all on major holidays which are (Xmas, Eid, Diwali, Republic Day and Independence Day). It pretty much shows how difficult big numbers are outside the major holidays.

The film has doubled the business of the new release Blackmail despite being in week two and that is not really a big deal but it is recording better collections even in metros like Mumbai city, Delhi and Kolkatta where the market for commercial mass films is less than say ten years ago apart from when they feature a Khan.

Baaghi 2 continued to sustain well on its second Monday with 3.50 crore nett which has taken it close to 135 crore nett. The drop of the film is under 30% from the Friday and it remains unaffected by the IPL cricket matches and the other films around it.

The second week so far has collected 23.75 crore nett in four days and looks on course for a total of 33 crore nett which will see the film at around 144 crore nett and then should cruise past the 150 crore nett mark. Baaghi 2 will finish among the top twenty NETT grossers of all time though in terms of GROSS it may just fall outside the top twenty.

Baaghi 2 took its total to nearly 138 crore nett as it added 3.25 crore nett on Tuesday. The film is steady across the country and will cross the 150 crore nett mark with the third Friday determining the lifetime business of the film .

A news perhaps bigger than the movie's release surfaced on Indian media when a Youtube channel "leaked the story of the movie.

The alleged leak by media website Movie Talkies' says the movie is a remake of a Telugu flick Kshanam (Moment) which was released in March 2016 and the story of that flick goes like this:

The protagonist meets his former lover (played by Disha Patani), who is now married to somebody else. She seeks his help to find out her daughter, but the hero realises that there never was a daughter.

Later, he finds out that Disha Patani was thrashed by some scoundrels outside a school and she went into coma after getting hit on the head. Following the incident, when she recovered, she started telling people that she had a daughter who had gone missing. In the aftermath, she commits suicide.

Worldwide Top Ten In 2018

Padmaavat leads the worldwide score in the first quarter of 2018 with a huge 544 crore which is the seventh highest figure off all time. Baaghi 2 is the other film to cross 200 crore and should settl close to the 250 crore mark while Sonu Ke Tito Ki Sweety will finish at around 150 crore.

The first quarter has seen good growth at the box office in India but Overseas is huge as Padmaavat covers the business of a normal first quarter in Oversesa. It is the second highest grossing film ever in Overseas in the original Hindi format (not including Chinese, Korean, etc versions) at 29 million.

The other films to cross 100 crore worldwide were Raid and Pad Man but these are not really big numbers for these films. The top ten films worldwide in 2018 till date are as follows.

1. Padmaavat - 544 crore (72 Days)

2. Baaghi 2 - 214 crore (13 Days)

3. Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety - 149 crore (45 days)

4. Raid - 141 crore (25 days)

Baaghi 2 Strong Second Week - Blackmail Poor Week One

Baaghi 2 is edging close to the 150 crore nett mark as it collected an excellent 32.50 crore nett in week two. There is a drop from the first week of around 70% but that is still good considering the huge first week collections. The total of the film has crossed 143 crore nett while Mumbai circuit is now 40 crore nett plus and Delhi / UP is 30 crore nett plus. These are very big numbers for these circuits and its a similar story across all other circuits. .

Blackmail has fared poorly at the box office with low weekend collections and then falling collections on the weekdays. It has ended its first week with 14.50 crore nett and there is not much scope to sustain into the second the week due to low occupancy over the weekdays. The film has not even been appreciated in the metros.

Baaghi 2 Crosses The 150 Crore Mark

Baaghi 2 grossed crossed the 150 crore nett mark in seventeen days as it grossed 6.75 crore nett in its third weekend to take its total to 150.25 crore nett apprx. The film has seen a 67% apprx drop in its third weekend which is a little better than the second week drop..

It has become the 19th film to cross the 150 crore nett mark and is the lowest budget film to cross this mark. The lifetime business of the film may finish around the 160 crore nett mark as there is still some gas left in the tank and should get a healthy forth week before Infinity War arrives in the last week of April .

Hello! Baaghi 2 has certainly won many hearts while some people are still complaining that the concept of the movie was a bit slow. I've not yet watched it but really looking forward to do it. The motion picture has also done in the box office and received praise. I've been following more information on the film.
