I too feel this. And especially when it comes to shivaay it comes out more strongly. She always runs away from any sort of direct confrontation with him which would result in any sort of finality about their relationship. At times i get the feeling before he could say anything or even if she fears that he might say something as an official confirmation she herself slams the door shut and runs away. More like u said her control over fate also in a twisted way saving herself from more hurt of having to hear him actually say it. I could be wrong about the last part too. But overall her issues run too deep about abandonment and insecurity of never being worth the fight. Now its shown in a contrived manner to say the least but i guess it does come down to listen him say see for herself ekdum clearly ki yes ur my no.1

Now for shivaay he is just stuck at the point she left. He would have handled her anger hurt even accusations i guess but her leaving him simply like that hit him hard. So all those big words of hate hisab barabar karna. He blames her for police complaint again a contrived MU but even that goes back to not having enough faith in hin&walking away. He is lost&the only person who could manage him during these times is the one that left so yeah its a mess.

This is what I feel too about Anika. The thing is that all her otherwise khidkitodness camouflages these deep seated abandonment issues and scars that loosing her family in such a devastating manner left on her and no one not even Shivaay has realised this. He knows it has scarred her deeply even though she doesn't show it which is why he wanted to gift her her identity and save her from further hurt. Hence the resultant raita. But how much reassurance she needs to really start believing with all her being that she is number one for him is something he is yet to realise. For him it's an understood thing that she is number one and he has shown her how much he loves her in countless ways. But maybe he needs to explicitly, emphatically and unequivocally tell her that in so many words. Obviously the kanji aankhein have not spoken eloquently enough going by what Anika feels right now.

The tadi and tashan games are definitely their defense mechanism. They were during the last separation too. Even then all the taunts to each other about moving on were just that. They both very well knew that that neither of them had moved on or ever would or could move on with someone else. But they have to make a game of who blinks first. That's just them. That's their way of engagement with each other without letting go of their ego.

As for Shivaay I am not one bit surprised at his reaction. This is how I would expect him to be. He can never cope with a missing Anika. They rest is just window dressing. And all those words about nafrat which everyone is so fixated on are just that. It's all hurt and anger. More like I hate you for doing this to me, for doing this to us. How could you? He feels let down because his whole plan was built on believing Anika's bharosa was atoot. When she broke everything unravelled.
And going into SSO mode is how he has always dealt with all the enormous pressures that have been heaped upon his shoulders all his life. It's was only Anika who softened and tempered him. He was Shivaay only because of her and for her. Without her he has been SSO.

These issues need to be addressed but I just wish they had not got to that point in such a contrived manner. But now that it's done and can't be undone I am trying to get past that looking forward to them addressing this. Give NM-SC some substance and they will make it worth our while.

Yesterday I was falling asleep while typing so I forgot to add that Anika needs to remind herself that not just for his family but Shivaay also allowed himself to be blackmailed by NT when Saahil got kidnapped when he gave Anika the fake DNA report in spite of knowing how much that would upset her and didn't share with her that Saahil was missing in order to spare her the worry. He wasn't choosing Saahil over Anika in the sense of who is more important to him. And at that time it wasn't about the Oberois. He still got blackmailed. So it's never about picking one over the other. There are many relationships in life and each have their own place. He was just responding to the need of the hour. That's just who he is and that is the man she loves. He is overprotective of those he cares about. He also needs to learn share his burdens but it's a lifetime of habit with him. Just who he is. He will learn. Slowly. There has never been anyone who has stood with him before and there has never been anyone for whom Anika has been important let alone number one other than Saahil and that's different. This is new territory for both and they will eventually both learn and accept. But before there is a whole lot of hurt, anger and wide chasm and deep rift to deal with. I am all ready to watch now. Once again.
