Hi guys for those who requested, I continued the Haldi night OS. Please tell me how it is!
Adi looked at Zoya through the ICU window. He looked at her fragile form lying helplessly on the hospital bed as several nurses bustled around her. The scene of him terrifying her on the terrace kept replaying in his mind. He just couldn't forget how her eyes had widened out of fear and her breathing was reduced to short hyperventilated breaths. "Acha hua ke aap inhe time pe lay aye, varna inka heart fail ho sakta tha, the doctor's words continuously echoed in his ears. His right hand curled up into a fist. He had never meant to harm her, never. It was just unnerving how she could crawl under his skin. She could read him like a book, and that unsettled him. That instance on the terrace, he had lost his temper as he had been thinking about Pooja. And Zoya just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time; thus had gotten entangled amidst the whirlwind of emotions running through his mind. His intention was to frighten her, not kill her! He closed his eyes in frustration. He had utmost respect for women, and he couldn't come to terms with the fact that he'd manhandled her and that it almost cost him her life.
He tried to take long controlled breaths. But as soon as he shut his eyes,
he remembered how he'd run to her on the terrace, seeing her drenched, and near moments of falling unconscious. He'd held onto her hand and had held her close while trying to keep her awake. And then she'd said, "Humme pata tha ke aap ayenge. Aur humme zaroor bachayenge. Adi opened his eyes, panicking. He punched the wall next to him. "Damn it Adi, he cursed under his breath. Zoya had come to the terrace praising him. And moments before that Mahi had told him that she had gotten his name henna tattooed on her palm. And now her belief that he'd come to save her. All of this could only mean one thing. He stepped into her room and walked towards Zoya. He examined her angelic face. "She couldn't possibly move on that fast, he thought. "Heck, she was mentioning Yash on the terrace, too. She couldn't have gotten closure that soon. He shook his head and his eyes fell on the phone on the bedside table. He picked it up and pocketed it. Maybe he could find a clue to his mystery. Maybe he could solve this crazy puzzle of Yash, Pooja, and Zoya. He looked at Zoya one last time, and then left the room to look for Arjun.
He found Arjun at the reception desk. He had completed the formalities for Zoya and was now chatting with a nurse. "Arjun, he shouted.
"Ji Haan ji bhai, Arjun rushed over obediently.
"Arjun, main yahan aya tha aur Zoya ko laykay aya tha, ye Zoya ko patha nahin chalna chaiyye, Adi informed.
"Lekin kyun bhai? Arjun asked confused.
"Kyun ke main nahin chahtha ke vo samjhe ke... Adi trailed off.
"Kyun ke main nahin chahtha ke vo samjhe ke main uski fikar karne laga hoon. Main nahin chahta ke vo mere liye feelings develop kare... he thought to himself. He knew that if Zoya developed feelings things would become hard for him. He was already worried about the amount of concern that sometimes overtook him when she was around.
"Main jo keh raha hoon, bas waise karo, Arjun, please, requested Adi.
"Acha bhai lekin, mujhe sirf ek baat ka jawab deejiye. Zoya chutt pe kaise bandh hui? he asked looking directly into Adi's eyes. Adi broke eye contact immediately.
"Dekiye bhai, agar aap Zoya ko kissi aur ke saza dey rahay hain to ye bilkul naainsafi hai, Arjun added, acknowledging at once that Adi was involved. "Ye len apka wallet, ghir gaya tha, he handed the wallet over to Adi, turned on his heels, and made his way to Zoya's room.
Adi stared at the open wallet. He saw Pooja and his picture side by side. A reminder that his heart belonged to her. Even though she was cheating him, he loved her truly, and he'd remain loyal to her. With that thought in his head, he walked out of the hospital and into his car, where Sanjeev had been waiting for him. As he sat in the car, something bumped against his thigh. He reached in his jeans pocket and found Zoya's phone. His jaw clenched and he ran a hand through his wet hair. "There are traces of her everywhere, he thought frustrated.
That car ride home felt like the longest ride of his life. His mind was aching with all the flashbacks of the night replaying in his head. He almost felt like banging his head somewhere. The turmoil had to end somehow. When he reached home, he headed towards the bar, but he suddenly remembered that Mr. Hooda had completely emptied the house so that not even a single drop of alcohol remained. He turned around and headed up the steps to his bedroom.
The windows of his bedroom were open and the strong gust of wind helped him breathe fresh air into his lungs. He hoped it would help clear his head, too. He slowly walked up to his balcony and opened the glass door. It hadn't stopped raining, but the rainfall wasn't as heavy as it was earlier when he had found Zoya on the terrace.
Adi examined the droplets of rain cascading into large puddles on the floor of his balcony. He remembered that fateful night. That night when he'd lost Pooja. It was raining just like this, that night, too. And he had run into Zoya there for the second time that evening. He could've never imagined that the person whom he had been fighting over for the gift he wanted to buy for Pooja would be the same person whose husband was having an affair with Pooja. And then both spouses would mysteriously end up dead, together. "How strange does God make destinies? he thought. "How does he plan who will meet whom and whose life gets which curveball? And why him? Why did he have to face the same fate as his mother? Why did he have to endure this pain? And why Zoya? The girl didn't even look like she'd ever hurt a bug. Why did her life have to turn upside down all of a sudden? What did she ever do to deserve such pain?
Unknowingly his mind had wandered to Zoya again. And he realized that she was facing the exact same situation as him. She had lost someone whom she loved deeply, too. But he had never acknowledged this fact before. All he could remember is taunting her about how her husband ruined his life by engaging in the affair with Pooja and how he thought that Zoya was brainless enough to love and support her husband even after his death. Come to think of it, wasn't he doing the same thing? He kept blaming Yash for the affair. But Pooja was a mature woman. She was equally responsible for engaging in the affair, and equally at fault for cheating her spouse. For cheating him. But even so, he always bad mouthed Yash and held him responsible for the betrayal. In his heart, he still loved and unintentionally supported Pooja. And poor Zoya, who had a heart of gold and could even overlook Adi's rash behavior in favor of kindness, had gotten the worst end of his anger. But this time he'd crossed all his limits. He'd unleashed the brute in him tonight. First, he'd pretended to push her off the terrace to scare the daylights out of her, then he pulled her back and had left her lying on the floor, and to top it off he'd locked her on the terrace, albeit unintentionally. "What if she had died tonight? he thought, horrified. He would've never been able to forgive himself.
"What must she have gone through while on that terrace all alone and soaking to the skin? He walked into his balcony where the rain had picked up speed again. The rain hit his chest and he shuddered. He recalled that one instant with Pooja when she was insisting on having him drench in the rain. He had said, "Nahin yaar Pooja. Tumme to pata hai ke main kitna nazuk hoon. Panch minute bheegoon ga aur paanch din thak kasoon ga! He smiled sarcastically as his shirt stuck to his skin, wet and cold. He leaned onto the railing of his balcony. Goosebumps rose on his skin and shivers ran down his spine. This is what Zoya must have felt, stuck in the rain on that terrace. But probably ten times worse. He knew that she had a thin frame and a weaker mental state. She wouldn't have made it, if he and Arjun hadn't found her in time. He looked up at the dark sky and sent a silent thank you to God, for making his heart play over his mind and for awakening the morals in him, so that he was forced to go rescue Zoya. He didn't know how long he stood like this in the rain. He probably would've stood all night, if it wasn't for Arjun's phone call and he hadn't left his phone in his bedroom.
************************************************
Another sleepless night was added to Adi's counting. He woke up with his head aching. "Achoo, he sneezed as he checked the time on his watch. He almost jumped out of bed, when he saw that it was already half past 3 in the afternoon. Bella's Haldi was planned for today and he couldn't let that fall apart, especially after what had happened in the Sangeet last night. He quickly showered, popped a few Advils and ordered Sanjeev to bring his coffee and start the car. He looked at his phone again, once he'd settled in the car. He had two missed calls from Mahi. He rolled his eyes. This girl was definitely getting on his nerves. He honestly couldn't understand why he even put up with her. Unfortunately, he had to work with her today because he had asked Arjun to tell the doctor to advise two days of bedrest to Zoya, so that she could recover. He already felt guilty for what she had to go through, even if he didn't intentionally locked her on the terrace. But he figured the least he could do was handle this event and let her rest.
Upon reaching the venue, he sighed a breath of relief as he saw a fully decorated arrangement. Fairy lights hugged the pillars and encircled the few trees in the venue. Jewel encrusted pink and yellow pillows were arranged around the sitting area. A snack bar was up with a variety of sweet treats and beverages. Colorful flowers were lining the walls and everyone in the team was busy running around to add the final touches. The sun was already setting and soon the lighting would sparkle the venue. Adi checked his watch, there was still a whole hour to go. He saw Vinod in his vicinity, telling someone to add more flowers towards the far end of the venue. He suddenly saw Adi and rushed over.
"Sir aap agaye. Aapko arrangement kaisa laga? he asked cheerfully.
"Bohut acha. Tum menhat se kaam karo, Adi answered.
"Yes, sir. Thank you, sir. he replied meekly.
"Kya Bella agayi? asked Adi.
"Nahin, unhone kaha ke vo Paanch baje ke khareeb hi ayengi, answered Vinod.
"Theek hai. Aur koi problem to nahin hai yahan par? Asked Adi. "Sound system chal raha hai?
"Haan main check karwatha hoon, said Vinod, and he hurried off in the other direction.
"Achoo! sneezed Adi. This cold would take the toll on him. He blew out his nose and wiped his tears.
"Array aap bhi cheenk rahay hain, sir? asked Shawn, who had been passing by with a crate of speakers.
"Main bhi? Asked Adi. "Kya matlab?
"Array subah say Zoya madam bhi cheenk rahi hain! Aisa lag raha hai ke aap dono raat baarish main bheeg gaye, he chortled.
"Kuch zyada hi nahi bol rahe ho thum? asked Adi, irked by being sassed by an intern. But also worried that his ears had gone bad along with his throat. He heard Shawn mention Zoya. "Wasn't she off work because of bedrest? he wondered.
"Sorry, sir, mera vo matlab nahin tha, Shawn replied timidly as his face fell.
"Zoya kaam pe aayi hai? Adi asked curiously.
"Jee, voh to subah sabse pehle yahan pahuanchi vi thi, he replied, still not meeting Adi's gaze.
"Acha, tum jao. Vinod tumhe dhoonde raha ho gaya. Sound system raedy karo. Fast! he ordered. Shawn quickly ran off to find Vinod.
"Dekiye ye sahi nahi, ispe aur phool lagaye, he heard her voice before he saw her. A minute later Zoya came into view. She was holding a notepad in one hand and instructing the team using the other hand. There was a box that was dangling from a wire. Long streams of jewels were dangling along all four sides of the box. And Zoya was telling the technician to lower it straight down, but something was wrong with the machinery. The box was hovering over her, slightly crooked and wasn't lowering to the ground. As Adi walked up towards her, he saw the wire, from which the box was hanging, snap. The box would fall to the ground any minute and Zoya was standing right underneath it, completely unaware.
Without a second thought, Adi rushed towards Zoya. Within seconds he had collided with her soft body and he wrapped his arms around her, as he anticipated their fall. The box thudded to the ground before them, missing them just by a few centimeters. Zoya and Adi, hit the floor hard, on the opposite side of the box. Adi's arm had saved Zoya's head from hitting the floor upon falling. As Adi moved his head to check to see if she was okay, he met her scared and utterly confused eyes.
"She was bound to be confused, he thought. She probably didn't expect to be saved by him, especially how he treated her just yesterday.
Adi helped Zoya to her feet, and she was so confused that she didn't even deny his help. Nor did she push him away. "Are you okay? he asked her. She nodded in the affirmative. Adi swung around to face the technician.
"Are you crazy? Aap ka dehaan kidhar hai? Agar inko lag jati tho? Agar inki jaan chali jati tho? Hum aapko isliye salary deyte hain? Taake aap theek se apna kaam bi na karen? he barked at the technician.
"Aditiya, unse galati ho gayi. Unhone jaan bhoojke nahin kiya, Zoya said touching his arm. Adi shrugged off her hand.
"Vinod! Vinod! he shouted.
"Ji! Ji, sir. Vinod hurried over to Adi's side.
"Vinod, technical arrangements thum kartay ho na? Ye kaise technician ko bulaya hai? Abhi ye gir gaya yahan. Kisi ki jaan jaa sakti thi. Agar ye Haldi ki rasam main dulhaan pe gir gaya tho? he raged.
"Sorry, sir. Aisa nahin hoga, sir. Main khud ye handle karunga, Vinod said running over to the technician and dismissing him from the job.
"Sab ruk kyun gaye? Kaam pe lago. Dulhan walay atay honge, ordered Adi and everyone started bustling about again.
Zoya had been rooted to the spot the whole time. Adi felt a sting at his elbow. He'd scrubbed it as he had fallen on top of Zoya, breaking the fall with his arms around her. Using this as an excuse to avoid Zoya, he rushed off to the bathroom to clean his wound.

PART 2
.
Adi entered the bathroom and wet some tissue paper to clean the blood on his elbow and as he did he glanced in the mirror. He took a hard look at himself. He had done it again. He had saved Zoya again. He'd given her more reason to reevaluate her thoughts on him, and maybe develop the feelings he was suspecting she was developing. But more importantly he was scared. Scared of reciprocating her feelings. No. He couldn't, he shouldn't. He would not be the cheater Pooja was. He wouldn't. He was bound to Pooja for eternity. He wouldn't think about Zoya. What he did for her, he would've done for anyone in her place. That was just the way he was. Yes. He should feel indifferent about saving her from any catastrophe. Saving her doesn't mean that he cares for her. It just means that his morals are still alive.
He looked at his defiant expression in the mirror. He had made up his mind and had justified his actions. He just wouldn't think about Zoya anymore. And then his breath caught in his throat as he saw her reflection in the mirror, standing behind him. He blinked a few times. She couldn't possibly be here. But she was. She was definitely standing there because even after several blinks she didn't disappear.
"Tum galat bathroom main agayi ho. Ye gents ka hai, he said in a stiff voice tending to his wound and avoiding meeting her gaze in the mirror.
"Nahin, hum sahi jaga aye hain. Humme yahin anaa tha, replied Zoya.
Adi's brows furrowed in confusion, but he didn't dare look at her.
She walked up to stand beside him.
"Laayi hum saaf kar deyten hain, she offered kindly.
"Nahin. Main khud karloonga, Adi answered sternly.
But she wasn't going to have that. She gently touched his arm and turned him around to face her. "Shawn ne humme First Aid Box nikal ke diya hai. Aap ke itni chott ayi hain, kahin infection na hojaye, she said showing him the First Aid Kit.
"Mujhe isse zyada barrhi chottein lag chukki hain. Lekin ab bhi zinda hoon na, mujhe kuch bhi nahin hoga, replied Adi stubbornly and with that he turned around and towards the bathroom door. But she was too quick for him. She appeared between the door and him.
"Aap bachon ki tharhan zid math karye, she said playfully.
And he froze. Not because she told him to stop but because he remembered a time when he was running around, chasing Pooja in his backyard and he'd tripped and hurt his head on the corner of the breakfast table they had had out there. The right side of his forehead had immediately developed small beads of blood and Pooja had rushed him to their bedroom. She'd quickly sat him on the bed and had taken a cotton swab dipped in alcohol in an attempt to clean his wound, but he'd jumped off the bed, away from her. "Nahin Pooja..bohut jalan paraygi, he'd said making a face. "Adi, yahan aao! Bachon ki tharhan zid math karo, she said annoyed.
Adi found himself standing in front of the bathroom sink again. Zoya had taken advantage of his frozen state and had led him to the sink. She tenderly touched his arm and pushed his elbow back so that she could see the wound. But he pulled his arm back and turned around again. This time her soft fingers closed around his wrist and he stopped in his tracks. She turned him around for the third time and this time he looked at her.
"Zoya tumhe abhi bhi bukhaar hai, he said in a voice that was barely above a whisper. His fingers were blazing hot on his skin.
"Nahin..nahin hum bilkul theek hain, she said, dipping a cotton swab into rubbing alcohol."Lekin aap ko kaise pata ke humme bhukhaar tha? she asked curiously, looking straight into his eyes.
"Arjun Hooda mera bhai hai. Usne bataya tha, he answered.
"Lekin apke bhai to venue pe thay nahin, tho unhe kaise pata chala ke hum vahan passay thay? she asked slowly pressing the cotton to the wound.
"SSS, hissed Adi, wincing slightly.
"Dard ho raha hai? asked a worried Zoya as she bent down and softly blew on the wound.
Adi looked at her intently. "How could someone be so kind, so selfless? he wondered.
As he stood still, watching her, she continued to clean the wound and blow on it, until it was completely dry.
"Apne itni baar hamari jaan bachayi, uske liye shukriya, she said as she started to bandage his elbow.
"Maine kuch nahin kiya, he replied coming out of his reverie.
"Hum jaantay hain, aap kuch na kartavay bi sab karjatay hain, she answered with a small smile on her face. Their eyes met. His dark green intense eyes stared into her bright brown ones. "How can she see so much kindness in me? he thought. "I'm always so rude to her.
"Ab ispe marham lag gaya hai to ye ghao jaldi bhar jayega, Zoya informed him, finally done bandaging.
"Kuch ghao marham ke baad bhi nahin bhar thay, he answered back, as he turned on his heels and exited the bathroom. He took a long deep breath as he stepped outside the bathroom.
"Sir, aap zara lights check karlen, an eager Vinod ushered him towards the stage. Adi left as Zoya stepped outside the bathroom with the First Aid Kit in hand.
There was only about forty minutes to go before this show went on the road, and the final touches to everything still had to be done. As Adi rushed over to check the lightning of the venue, Zoya went to check on the flower arrangements. And they continued to work this way, moving from one thing to another until everything was completed. With five minutes to go, Zoya decided to get the inorganic Haldi bowl. She was rushing back to the stage with it when she accidentally collided into someone. She looked up to meet Adi's angry green eyes.
"Wow!! Beautiful!! Bella squealed as she walked into the venue and admired the decorations, completely unaware that she unknowingly interrupted what would've been a very heated argument.
"Hashtag almost perfect! Bella finally moved her eyes away from the venue and to Zoya and Aditya, who were still found in the same position as they had been when they had collided. Zoya was still hanging onto the bowl that was still held against Adi's stomach, and the Haldi was still pooling onto his yellow kurta.
"OMG!! jumped Bella excitedly. "Hashtah how cute? Kya bath hai? Kal Zo ne Aditiya ke name ki mehndi lagayi apne hathon pe aur aaj haldi bhi lagadhi?
Adi looked at Zoya questioningly, and Zoya looked away embarrassed. That had been an honest mistake and she had even covered up her hand because she was so ashamed that she made such a mistake.
"Abhi to sirf mala pehena bhakki hai! joked Bella, and this time both Adi and Zoya looked at each other and then averted each other's gaze. They were sure that both of them had instantly recalled the scene that had played out at the stage about twenty minutes ago. Both Adi and Zoya had arrived at the stage at the same time and the garlands of flowers that were being put up by Akansha had accidentally entangled both of them. They were pulling and tugging and unintentionally in each other's embrace, trying to untie the knot of the garlands. They both sent a silent thank you to God, thanking him that Bella hadn't seen that fiasco. She would've officially married them off. And yet, even though she hadn't seen their garland mess, she brought their worst nightmare to life.
"Kahin aise tho nahin, ke meri shaadi plan karnay ke chakkar main, tum log apni shaadi bhi karlo? she laughed.
Adi suddenly coughed uncomfortably, "Main ye saaf karke atha hoon, he said pointing at his soaked kurta.
"Bella aap bohut khoobsurat lag rahi hain mashallah! Zoya decided to divert the topic to Bella's appreciation.
"Thank you! Hashtag yellow is my color! Bella smiled brightly. "Kya Ro agaya?? she asked.
"Nahin abhi sirf aap ki kuch saheliyan aayi hain. Voh undar wait kar rahi hain, Zoya informed her and took her to the stage.
Soon the guests began to arrive and the Haldi ceremony began with the dholki. Zoya stood off to one corner of the venue, admiring everything from afar and reminiscing about her own wedding days. She hadn't had a haldi ceremony of her own because no one had shown up for it. Both Yash's and her family were against their wedding so they refused to come for any celebration attached to their event. Tears formed in Zoya's eyes, but she didn't let them fall. She was trying to be stronger, but the pain wasn't subsiding. It wasn't easy to forget 5 years of love and everything else attached to it. Yash had been her whole world and she had fought with her parents to be with him. Living with her parents' disappointment and now the untimely death of her husband was definitely not a cakewalk. And to make matters worse the situation in which her husband had been found after his mysterious death just added more sorrow and confusion.
Overwhelmed, Zoya left for the dressing room she had prepped on site for last minute touch ups for Bella and her friends. She reached the room and headed to the dressing table. She picked up a magazine and sat on the settee, her back to the door. But within a matter of minutes she had drifted off to sleep right there on the settee.
*************************************************
Zoya woke up with a jolt. She didn't realize when she'd fallen asleep. She remembered how she was reading a magazine. It was now on the floor. She checked her phone which read 10:29. So she'd dozed off for an hour. It seemed her fever and exhaustion had gotten the best of her. She quickly strapped on her sandals and fixed her dupatta. The haldi function was supposed to be over by 11pm. They would most likely need her help to clean up. As she fixed her dupatta a pair of hands wrapped around her waist and someone whispered "Hello beautiful, in her ear.
"Ya Allah, Zoya jumped in horror.
She turned around to face Ro, who in turn screamed and his scream mingled with another female scream, which belonged to Bella.
"Ro, thum yahan kya kar rahay ho? a tearful Bella asked.
"Bella, inhone aaka humme pichay se pakkhar liya. Ye humme galay laganay ki koshish kar rahay that, Zoya spoke up, also teary-eyed.
"Kya Rohan, tum aisa kaise kar saktay ho! Tum mere mangaytar ho aur mujse shaadi kar rahi ho! Ye sab kya hai? screamed Bella.
"Array kis baat ka shor ho raha hai? Adi stepped into the room, followed by Mahi.
"Tum mujhe kaisay cheat kar saktay ho Rohan? Bella pushed Rohan.
"Nahin baby, maine kuch nahin kara, Rohan spoke up in his defense moving over to Bella's side and putting a hand around her.
"Mujhe to yahee bataya gaya tha ke inhone kaha ke tum mujhe iss kamre main milna chaathi ho. Maine inhe tumhay samaj ke pakhra tha, Rohan explained.
"Kya? Ye kya nonsense hai Ro? Maine to tumhe bulaya hi nahin! yelled Bella.
"Kya?? Tumne nahin bulaya. To phir ye inki chaal hogi! Ye milna chaahthi hongi mujhe! Aur inhone mujhe dhokay se yahan bulaya hoga! Ro put a hand around Bella again and looked at Zoya accusingly.
Everyone in the room was now facing Zoya, who stood all alone on the other side of the room.
"Kya bakwaas kar rahay ho tum? an angry Adi stepped between Zoya and the couple. He stood in front of Zoya and glared at Rohan.
"Zoya aisa kabhi bhi nahin karegi, Adi pointed out.
"Wah pyar ki upar bharosa tho koi apse seekay, Ro said sarcastically.
"Kamal ki baat ye hai ke pyar jaisay bhakwas cheez pe mujhe to koi bharosa, koi belief nahin hai. Lekin Zoya jaisi bhi hai, vo ye nahin kar sakti. Itna nahin ghir sakti hai voh, Adi finished.
"Toh kya Ro jhoot bol raha hai? asked Bella, clearly confused.
" Uh Aisa bhi ho sakta hai kay Ro ko koi misunderstanding ho gayi ho? Mahi interjected.
"Of course, thought Adi. "I should've known this is all her doing. Adi shot Mahi a deadly look, to which Mahi gave him, her usual sickly-sweet smile.
"Acha chalo misunderstanding hogayi. Bella thum Ro ko maaf kardo, Mahi tried to do damage control as she became aware that she was going to get it from Adi.
"Nahin. Parson meri shaadi hai, aur ye abhi tak clear nahin huwa hai. Hashtag shaadi cancel, Bella cried.
"Chalo. Ab shaadi ho ya na ho, Zoya koi intezaam nahin karegi. In fact main abhi issi waqt shaadi ka contract cancel kartha hoon. Chalo Zoya, and with that Adi made his way to the door. Zoya stood frozen. He had just cancelled the contract. And they needed the contract to keep the company from going bankrupt.
"Zoya chalo, Adi came back and grabbed her hand and took her out of the room.
"Lekin Aditya, humme iss contract ki zaroorat hai. Varna humari saari mehnat pe paani phir jayega. Hum company ko nahi bacha payenge, a worried Zoya tried to explain to Adi.
Adi walked over to his car. He'd given his driver a leave this afternoon, so he was driving home. "Main kuch nahin jaanta Zoya, garrhi main bhaito, he said furiously.
"Nahin, hum nahin baitengay. Aap aise kaisay kar saktay hain? a stubborn Zoya refused to sit in the car.
"Zoya garrhi main bhaito. Tumhe yahan se koi riksha nahin milega aur Mahi tumhe vaisay bhi chor kar chali jaati hai, he replied.
He waited patiently for Zoya and when she didn't oblige, he stepped out of the driver's side, opened the door for her and made her sit in the car.
Zoya sat in the passengers side. There was an awkward silence except for Zoya's sniffles. Adi handed her a tissue. Zoya took it and wiped her tears.
"Aap aise kaisay kar sakte hain? Shaadi ka contract cancel kar diya? asked Zoya.
"Unhone tho khud hi cancel kardi shaadi, Adi stated.
" Nahin. Bella toh din main bees baar shaadi cancel karteen hain. Iska matlab ye toh nahin ke voh shaadi nahin karengi, she pointed out.
" Zoya voh log itna gandha ilzaam laga rahay thay thumpe. Phir bhi tumhe sirf unhi ki parrhi hai?! he asked incredulously.
"Ilzaam jhutta tha! Humari niyat pak thee. Aur hamara kaam hai ke unki khushi khushi shaadi karvana, replied Zoya.
"Zoya tum itni selfless kaisi ho sakti ho? Kabhi toh apne baray main socha karo! Ye duniya masoom logon ke liye nahin hai. Ye tumhe bech kaa jayegi! Adi warned.
"Hum abhi konse zinda hain. Humaray jeenay ki wajah to Allah Miya hum say cheen chukkay hain. Aur ab jo akri omeed hai vo bhi aap cheen rahay hain, she answered with a sniffle.
"Zoya, maine dekha ke voh log tum pe ilzaam laga ke tumse badsaluki kar rahay. Isi liye Maine aisa kaha. Ab chahay tumse main kitni nafrat karoon mera zameer mujhe sahi baat pe karray hone ke liye kehta hai, he explained.
"Lekin aapko kaisay yakeen tha ke hum aisa nahin kar saktay thay? asked Zoya.
Adi stopped the car, "tumhara ghar agaya, he pointed outside the window.
"Shukriya, Zoya stepped out of the car.
When she closed the door, Adi rolled down the window of her door.
"Zoya, he called her. She turned around. "Tumhara order nahin cancel hoga. Kal Bella khud call kar ke tumhe bulaiye gi!
"Aap sure hain na? she asked, skeptical.
"Utna sure jitna main aaj Ro ke samne tha. Ab jakay so jana araam se. Kal bohut kaam hai, he gave her a half smile.
Zoya returned the smile and entered her house. Adi waited outside her house for a good ten minutes before making a u-turn and heading home for the night.
