Some communities in South India do practice marriage between cousins.

It happens in many cultures, I don't think anything about it.

EDIT --- The only thing that concerns me is possible health issues in the offspring from such a marriage

I believe it is common practice in pakistan. Personally, mere a thought creeps me out.

Happens here in Bangladesh as Well, but less frequently than Pakistan.

I dont see anything overtly wrong with it, but say if everyone in society keeps falling in love with their cousins/if siblings start marrying off their children then that would be a problem.😆

For me my cousin is my brother. And marrying him would be a disaster.

Doctors advise it's not good for the children born out of such marriage. They face lot more health problems than the rest ! So a big no.

It happens traditionally in India, but it has to be Bua's son and Mama's daughter, this way there is no medical issues in the off-springs. Any other cousin, is a strict no-no cause of medical reasons.

Also this bua-mama thing started so that the girl can get married in a family that is known to the parents.

I'm from Bangladesh
And I'd never seen cousin marriage
But my mom said her grandparents were cousins
But I never saw cousin marriages in my generation or even my parents
