I know many communities in India and maybe Pak and Bangladesh have this custom of marrying a cousin, but I kinda get repulsed by that concept. To me that person is a brother/sister even if a distant cousin. How can one marry their own brother/sister? Kinda like incest for me.

As far as I know it's only the maternal side or the distant cousins . If love is love , any consenting adult should be allowed to marry another

Anyway, isn't the liberal argument that "love is love"? You don't choose who it happens with.😆I don't know about you but I am slowly seeing the media propagating incest...forget cousins, fathers-daughters, mothers-sons, sisters-brothers, brothers-brothers, sisters-sisters, mothers-daughters, fathers-sons, aunts/uncles-nieces/nephews all around the west (and especially in America these days) are fighting for their right to be together because "love is love" as long as its consensual. The movement is small for now, but the LGBTQ+ movement was small a few years ago too. Look where it's at now. Who's to say that in a few years from now, incest will be normalized as well. Then marrying cousins will be the least of our problems lmao.😆

P.S. When shows like Game of Thrones normalize incest and the masses accept it (and even root for it) you know there's room for the real life movement to legalize incest.

No the statistics of kids born out of those marriages/relationships having genetic problems is not very minute. I will provide data when I have some time, but on the liberal movement and argument, I can post my pov for now. As a complete liberal this is what I think - two adults can always go have such relationship since love is love and who are we or as a matter of fact anyone else to object. But please dont have children in that case. A child shouldn't have a difficult life just because his/her parents couldnt control their emotions. I support LGT community too, they are living their own lives and are not troubling anyone else. I do support bisexuality too but I also object to bisexuality when a child is brought into the picture, not because of sexuality, but multiple commitment/relationships put an adverse psychological impact on the child.


A child, irrespective of the circumstances, should not suffer because of 2 adults.

The part of India where I come from...cousins are treated as brothers and sisters...so my answer is a big NO...but at the end of the day...its ur life ...ur choice.
