Well, everyone knows the way of royal livings. Power struggle was common & so, was killing. I am just stating how this character of Barsine might be showcased in the future.
It takes another level all together to be able to order to kill someone even for ensuring survival of your child. Olympia grew so full of venom because Philip ruined her tribe & then raped her (if this show is to be believed). And then she wanted to see Alexander on throne. Roxanne might have similar story.
Olympia can be said to be cruel because she ordered killing of step-wives after Philip died & she wanted to secure Alexander's future as a king.
Besides, just because it was normal for royals to live that way doesn't mean that it was not cruel. For ambition to be king & direct relatives of king, royals used to follow cruel ways.
