Should Padmaavat have been released?

Before I'm bashed for this, please read my full post. As much as I hate SLB movies for distorting and making a mockery of history, I do agree that Padmaavat should be released for the sake of liberty of expression. But then is all this violence and damage worth it for a movie? Knowing how incompetent the security is and how fanatic the Karni Sena is, would it have been more prudent to have not released the movie? Or at least ensure that the situation cools down and there is adequate security before screening? Even after all the attacks, the government's callous response worries me. How long is it before the general public starting losing their lives for this?

I have mixed feelings on this issue. So I wanted to find out people's views on this topic as well!

P.S. Please don't start fan wars. My question just centres around liberty of expression vs. public security.

Yes, it should have. As much as I dislike Deepika, there are hundreds of others who have worked hard on the movie. Not releasing will only mean that we have bowed down to these goons.

Yes..the producers have all the legal clearances to release the film. It cannot depend on whims and fancies of a few people. If they have a problem they should have been knocking the right doors instead of creating a nuisance for everyone.

Imagine the kind of government we have elected that can't even control internal threats from goons. The incompetence of an elected government cannot be an excuse to ban legal businesses in this country. That makes for a very bad image of this country on a global platform and discourage businesses and investments. Where will this country go with such an attitude ?

Yes...why not ?
But just be careful watching it in 3D 😆😆

Watch #Padmaavat in 3D. But if the battle sequences appear a bit too realistic, immediately remove your 3D glasses and check. It may actually be happening in the theatre. Stay safe

Don't watch #Padmaavat in 3D. An arrow flying in your direction might be an actual arrow by Karni Sena.

It's not about just the movie anymore... this time you bend for one group...in future it will happen on other issues.

KArni Sena is nothing but another version of moral policing group. who decides what you should or shouldnt do. Remember those groups who think we shouldnt celebrate Valentine's day and go around hunting for couples who do. then they either beat the guy and disrespect the girl or get the couple married. Have we still stopped celebrating V-Day ?? No, right, cause its our decision whether we do it or not. Those groups arent anyone to tell us, not to.

Same way, we shouldnt be bowing in-front of these fringe groups too.

It should have released on time the delays and all have tarnished the hype. I was semi-excited for it but now I don't think I will be watching it in the theatre. It honestly just looks like Bajirao Part 2.

Err no, you don't give in to the demands of criminals, what kind of precedent you want to set? Don't like something so just do some violence and people will give in? why don't we just give in to the demands of the terrorists then?

There are two sets of views

For me i love the movie cause i love bhansali
Its a visual treat to watch the movie.

But the other factor and view is that

1. Why write the role of Khilji with a male lead actor.? Critics say that cast a real villain,,who can be hated..not a popular actor who is an icon. Reduce the importance of khilji. Dont glorify him

2. This film brings back that pain which is part of history. While watching the movie that horrific incident and activities of those ruthless foreign invaders and rulers is played live .

As an audience i agree with the above two points also as much i loved the movie.

I do feel angry thinking at Alauddin Khilji... I feel that what can LUST make a man reduce into.
Not long back but in 1971 history tells us how during Bangladesh liberation war ,Pak army mass raped bangaldeshis.
Thats how armies are motivated in the lines of khiljis who would take women , children under harems after the war

What I don't understand is - why is everyone so offended. If anyone should have any problem it should be Muslims. Khilji's character is almost the definition of evil. The only good people in the film are the Rajputs. :/
