So Mahima had a dream launch and won filmfare best debut over the likes of rani and Aish but totally went from that to C grade movies and eventually disappearing without a trace
so my Q is

would the present situation be any different if she was a star daughter?

would she have been still given A list work or it would have more or less been the same

personally..Mahima not making it big remains a big shock for me

imo she was the ultimate package who could act..dance..looked amazing..had a great dialogue delivery..she just had no one to guide her

but some may feel just the opposite and would think she would have fizzled sooner or later regardless like esha..udya..tushar etc

what do you guys think?

If she were a star-kid, she wouldn't have fizzled out like Tushar, Esha, Uday coz unlike them, she actually could act. It's not easy for an outsider despite of having a successful 1st film. They still have to keep struggling movie after movie. 1 average or below average movie and their entire career could be jeopardized but 1 success doesn't mean they're safe either.
Unlike many star kids - who keep giving flops after flops - a string of flops and then sizzle out. Outsiders don't have that benefit. 1 wrong choice could literally mean game over for them.

Mahima was fab. I was a fan.
Her image wearing a white suit and red dupatta in Pardes is still fresh in my mind.
Her acting was great too.. starting from her debut to the few movies she has done..she was impressive.
Sad she couldn't make it big

That's what some people do not get...Just pedigree doesn't guarantee stardom but it certainly GUARANTEES sustainance...Imagine if Abhishek B or Tusshar K were outsiders...
They would have been flipping burgers in some shady joint ..Not NOW but 15 years back!!!
Abhishek B still green lights high profile movies

Yes Mahima was a stunner but she did make some terrible choices such as playing a sidekick in probably the second worst movie of all times 'Dhadkan'...That one move killed her career!

really..but dhadkan waa a big hit and i thought if anything it did good for her..better be second lead in hit movies than lead in c grade movies..

some choices she made after those were abysmal

like those movies with dino and ashmit..all C grade..and her recent movie dark chocolate..

It wouldn't make any difference if she was an outsider or starkid. There's a reason why her career went downhill due to her fallout with Subhash Ghai. She signed a five year contract but both had some disagreement hence the contract with Murka Arts was withdrawn. Hadn't this whole thing not happened then she may have been successful.

She was very pretty and had gorgeous eyes. As far as her acting goes, she only gave a few good performances like Pardes, Daag: The Fire, Yeh Tera Ghar Mera Ghar, Lajja and ect. Rest like Dil Kya Kare, Khiladi 420 and so and so is where she overreacted.

Not to take anything away from her, she was a good actress but not great. She choose to star in mindless films like Zameer: Fire Within, Home Delivery and many other craps post 2003.

Nepotism has nothing to with downfall of the likes of Mahima and many others outsider. People like Madhuri Dixit, Priyanka, Urmila, Manisha and ect made thus far and established themselves respectively.

Three reasons to the downfall of
Mahima's career .

1. Fallout with Subhash Ghai
2. Poor choices of films
3. Wasn't focusing much on career because she was too busy dating that Tenis Player. Then later choose settle down and get married to somebody else.

I always hear these same stuff about many chances these starkids get but nothing guarantees success no matter how many opportunities are given. In the 90s, Mahima got so many chances but in between those lines, she had fall out with fallout with Subhash Ghai hence her contract being withdrawn. Poor choices of films were part of the downfall of her career.

Amisha Patel was an outsider who was given several chances despite of her bad acting. Again poor choices of films barring Gadar, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, Humraaz and so and so.

She was the best thing in Dil Kya Kare. She was a great actress but she was never focused. If she were a star daughter, she would have survived few more years but eventually disappear.

I used to love her too! Loved her in Aksar iss duniya mein! Her career was very similar to her state in that song, always 2nd fiddle.
she was also so beautiful

Mahima was nothing special and she debuted when she was 24 years old. And that too in the 90s. Where does that leave her in terms of a career? 6 years? She had a string of flop films and thus her career ended. Plus her constant controversies didn't help her career either.

And what guarantees does a star daughter hold? Tanisha was a star sister AND a daughter, whatever happened to her?
