Traya's POV
I sat there nervously on the stool as I waited for the hat to make its decision. I was hoping for Gryffindor, not only because both my brother and sister, who had just been sorted, were in that particular house. I had always wanted to be a part of there brave and proud house.
The hat was taking an awfully long time. I sat there in the silence with an uncountable amount of people watching me. Then I jumped. The hat… it spoke to me!
"Nervous, I see, but brave none the less." I shifted uncomfortably under the hat. "A great mind as well. Hmm… Possibly Ravenclaw? No…" The hat decided.
Then suddenly the hat bellowed "GRYFFINDOR" and my fellow… Gryffindor? Gryffindorians? My fellow house mates clapped loudly.
I giggled as I got off the stool when I heard James and Jayda yell over the roar of applause, "WAY TO GO TAYTAY!!"
Traya's POV
Thankfully, Jayda and I shared a dorm. It was a close one. We were almost separated but thank goodness our puppy dog looks had an effect on Dumbledore too.
Usually, when there aren't an exact amount of people per dorm for year they let the 'leftovers,' as I like to call them, have a room with the other 'leftovers' from their year. But this year they were short on rooms so they took the 'leftovers' from each year and put them together. I was a 'leftover.'
My twin and I were the only first years in our dorm, the rest were second years.
I looked around to see who my roommates were when my eyes fell on a familiar redhead who was entering the dorm. It was Lily.
I started to giggle at the irony. This was going to be one fun year!
I jumped on to the bed I called. It was one by the window so I had a perfect view of the school grounds.
I turned my head to look out the window when I heard a recognizable voice. "Aww… you took the good bed! S'pose I should have gotten here on time if I wanted it!" I turned to face Lily. "Tra--- Jay--" she stumbled over our names trying to decide which twin I was. "You!" She concluded with a laugh.
"Traya," I said laughing at her confusion.
"You? Here?" she questioned.
"Yup, I'm your new roomie."
"So you mean the bed is still yours?"
"Yes"
"Dang it," she joked, "and I thought I was gonna get lucky."
I mock punched her and we giggled.
Jayda's POV
It took me a few minutes to remember where I was when I sat up in my bed on Saturday morning.
I staggered into the bathroom and found my tooth brush already there, along with my brush and my face cloth. Weird!!!
I took a shower and then got dressed for the day. It was still pretty early, and by the looks of it, my sister was still asleep.
I thought over all the things I could do to her. Deciding I was too hungry and it was still too early to get back at her, I headed back down stairs to the Great Hall for some breakfast.
With my awesome sense of direction, I managed to get lost. Running around the big castle on my first morning there, hungry, wasn't my idea of fun. That's what I was doing when I ran into thin air. Or that's what I thought as I skidded backwards on my bum.
"Owwwww," I got up and rubbed my behind, glaring in the direction I had run in.
The strangest thing happened then. Sirius appeared out of thin air. I took a step back, stumbled, and fell over again.
I got up again, with Sirius' help this time and gave him a look.
"What?" he asked, giving me an innocent look.
"What are you doing with James' invisibility cloak at 9 in the morning wondering the school?" Oooo. I bet he didn't know I knew about the cloak!
"How'd you ….?" Ha!
"We do live in the same house. And share the same parents and all that. Course I know about it. But you still haven't answered my second question," I looked at him inquiringly.
He grinned secretly and pulled me closer. Putting the cloak over both of us he took my hand and led me down the way I'd just come from.
"It's not 9 anymore, Jayda." He whispered. "And there's no more food down stairs. I was on my way to get food a different way."
"Are we going to the kitchens?"
He stopped and looked at me.
"What?" I said, a bit uneasy, though not sure why. Being so close, I noticed what nice eyes he had and I smiled.
"How do you know about the kitchen?"
"James and you are very easy to spy on," I replied, smiling proudly.
He shook his head and we kept going.
We got to the kitchen surprisingly fast. Sirius tickled the fruit and we went in. One of the house elves offered us a place to sit and after a few minutes brought us food and drinks.
"That joke you played on James was funny," Sirius said after a moment.
I grinned and looked at him.
"We should do it again sometime."
Traya's POV
I woke up to someone poking me.
"Trayaaaa. Trayaaaa."
It wasn't Jayda I knew that. She wouldn't be poking me saying 'Trayaaaa' softly. She'd be yelling, "Traya Kalisha Potter!! If you don't get your butt out of bed I'll see to it that there is no butt to get out of bed!!"
I opened my eyes lazily to see Lily standing there grinning away.
"Yes?" I asked impatiently, I'm not really a morning person.
"It's almost 12 o'clock," she said somewhat scandalized.
"And?"
"And what? You can't lay in bed all day." She said seriously.
I looked at her in amazement. "I can and will." And with that I turned over facing the other side.
"Traaayaaaa" Lily whined. "Come on, I want to introduce you to someone," she said in a sing-song voice.
Well, she had my attention then. "Okay, okay, okay… I'm getting up!"
I hauled my sleepy butt out of bed and into the shower. After 30 minutes, according to Lily, I was finally ready.
She dragged me along to meet this friend of hers.
We ran into James and his friends on our way to meet Lily's friend. We literally ran into them.
I ran straight into one of James' friends, Remus. I almost fell over but luckily he caught me and got me back on my feet.
I had a slight headache. I had hit my head on his chest. Come on, I understand the muscles but what's with being a solid rock. I found myself wishing, as I rubbed my head, that I had run into someone more pudgy.
The room started to spin and I stumbled and Lily caught me. She sat me down on a chair James had conjured.
I heard James mumble something. Apparently, James performed a spell and suddenly I felt great, even better than great!
My head stung slightly but other than that I was feeling excellent. I stood up and James and Lily both held one of my arms to help me up.
"Guys," I complained, "I feel perfectly fine again." Reluctantly they let go of my arms.
I looked up to see a red-faced Remus. He pretended to be fascinated by his shoes.
I gave a small giggle, I understood the apologetic glance he gave me when I giggled. "Don't worry about it. It was probably more my fault anyways." I smiled at him in attempt to ease his conscience.
"James?" I said questioningly after a moment of awkward silence.
"Yes?"
"Since when do you know how to perform a healing spell?" I inquired curiously.
He look Lily straight in the eye. "Actually it was Lils, uh I mean, Lily here who told me how. She doesn't have her wand." He added, explaining.
"Wow," I said impressed, "you two make a great team." I said innocently.
They, simultaneously turned a shade pf red. I just gave them a wide-eyed innocent look.
"Uh… umm… let's go Traya. My friends are, um, waiting for us." Lily said, embarrassed.
"Okay," I chirped and we started down the hallway.
Traya's POV
Lily introduced me to some of her friends and we became really good friends. Her friends, Elizabeth (Lizzy) and Alice (Ally) became friends of mine too.
We hadn't seen Jayda that day and when we got back to our dorm we found her laying on her bed, day-dreaming.
Before Lily said anything I silenced her by putting one finger over my lips indicating for her to be silent.
I crept over to Jayda's bed and yelled, "BOO!!"
Jayda jumped pretty high. I'd give it a 6.9 on the JJ scale. The JJ scale stood for Jayda's Jumps scale. It ranked from 0 to 10. 0 being no jump at all and 10 being hole in the ceiling high. My best so far was a 9.1.
"Traayyaa" she said and attempted to hit me but I easily dodged her hand.
"Jaaydaa" I said imitating her tone. She tried to suppress her smile but I saw the corners of her mouth twitch.
"So Twitchy, what have you been up to all day?" I asked nonchalantly.
She burst out giggling at that.
Jayda's POV
I woke up the next morning, sore all over. I sat up in bed groggily and groaned when I saw the mess of feathers. Yea, you guessed it. Lily, Traya and I had our first full out pajama party last night. And let me tell you, it was AWESOME!!
We gave each other makeovers (and these weren't meant to make us look prettier), ate popcorn, played truth or dare and all that other fun stuff.
We ended up having a pillow fight this morning around 5. It wasn't one of those, " Oh.Mi.God! I hit you on the head! Are you okay? Oh.Mi.God! Sorry if it hurt!" Nooo. This one was more like, "Oh, darn. I should hit you harder if I want you to get that concussion!"
So, I guess you know how all these feathers got all over the floor.
I picked my self of off the floor where I had fallen asleep at about 6 after I had gotten hiccups from laughing so hard.
I walked over to where Traya was sleeping and poked her in the side. She groaned and swatted my hand away.
Shrugging, I walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower. I didn't even want to know what time it was. I guessed it was somewhere around 1 or 2, judging by where the sun was.
After my shower, I felt wide awake. Checking the clock, I found that it was 3 in the after noon. After changing, I went back into my dorm and found that Lily and Traya were still asleep.
I quickly ran to my trunk and looked through it, searching for the present James got me for my 11th birthday as a joke. I soon found the blow horn and grinned wickedly.
I walked as close as I could to them and blew on the horn. Both of them jumped up and Lily screamed. Traya was getting used to my wake up calls.
"Mornin' sleepy heads!" I said in a cheery voice. "It's about 3 in the afternoon. I thought you'd want to get up."
I received many cold glares and Traya picked up a pillow that had half survived our pillow fight last night and chucked it at my head. I dodged it easily and fetched a broom.
I swept the dorm with the help of Traya while Lily was taking a shower and then Lily fixed the pillows and helped me make all the beds that we had used as trampolines.
After everything was back in order, we headed down in hope of supper. It was now almost 5 and we were all very hungry.
Thankfully, supper was just starting so we were able to eat lots. I piled my plate full of food and we sat with James and Remus. Sirius was at detention (already) and Peter was with him.
"Jayda, Traya," James gave us each a nod and an evil smile, as if he knew something we didn't. "Hello Lily," he smiled at her. Oh sure, be nice to her.
After we finished eating, we headed back to the common room. As we passed James, me and Traya stopped.
"I see our beautiful creation has faded," Traya commented.
James flushed.
"You'll pay for that yet," he warned.
"Ooo, what you gonna do, Jamesie-poo??" I said, dragging out his nickname.
"You'll see," he grinned wickedly again and I frowned. "I'll get you when you're least expecting it."
"Oh, sure," Traya smiled, and we left the table.
I knew something was coming, and I was a little worried. After all, he was our brother, and he did know everything about us… Uh-oh.
Lily decided she needed to go to the library and Traya wanted to stay in the common room so I headed back up to our dorm alone.
I discovered on our first day here that our dorms get really quiet. Traya, Lily and I are the only once in there actually. Lily's old dorm mates all transferred to Bauxbatons.
I sat down on my bed and took out my book. I wasn't even sure what this book was about yet. Every time I'd try reading it, something would come up and I wouldn't even finish the first page.
I was one sentence away from finishing it when I heard a shrill scream. I sighed and left the dorm, running down the stairs. I was a little out of breath when I reached the bottom.
I looked around and discovered that my twin, my IDENTICAL twin, may I point out, was standing on one of the tables, staring at the other end, a look of pure horror on her face.
As I pushed my way through my fellow Gryffindor's (who had gathered around the table and were staring in awe), I heard my brother and Sirius laughing of to the side.
I finally got to the table and climbed up turning Traya around so she would look at me.
"What's the matter?" I asked, her eyes were still on that far end of the table. She pointed with a shaky hand.
I sighed, turned and then – I froze.
