This Is Only The Beginning
Disclaimer: We own nothing! Well, Traya and Jayda, and maybe this current plot. But all the characters that are familiar, any situations you remember, they're all JK's.
Jayda's Point of View
"TayTay!!" I yelled. Merlin, that girl could be so careless sometimes. "You forgot your trunk up here!"
It was Friday, September 1st. I was so excited that I'd gotten up before the sun had even peeked out. Really hyper, I'd decided to wake my sister up. Haha…
"Traya!" I yelled, in a shrill, panicky voice. Oh, I was a good actor. Actress. Whatever! "There's a fire!!"
"Mhmm…" came her muffled reply.
"FIRE!!" I shrieked as loud as I could. I wasn't worried about waking up my parents. Our house was so big that I still got lost in it.
"What?!" She jumped out of her bed and looked around wildly. Still too sleepy to notice the evil smirk on my face she started running around frantically putting all her favorite clothes into her open trunk, which had been waiting for the last 2 days for her to do exactly that. The trunk was almost full when she realized that I was still standing there. "What are you doing?!? Get your butt moving! There's a fire and you're just standing there smirking at me…"
Her eyes got wide as realization hit her. I turned and ran.
"AHH!" She yelled running after me. "You're gonna pay for that! It's not even sunrise yet! I am soo going to kill you!"
"You'll have to find me first!" I yelled and ducked into one of the smaller hallways where I know she wouldn't look.
Traya's Point of View
I searched the house… well as much as I could before my stomach wouldn't allow it. Knowing Jayda, she was probably dying to eat! She couldn't hide forever, especially if she could smell the bacon I was making. Well, after the bacon and eggs had been cooked there she stood, smiling sheepishly.
"Hey TayTay," she said in her not-so-innocent baby voice. When I replied with a cold look she merely shrugged and protested, "Hey! At least you're up now." She reached over to grab a piece of bacon from my plate and her hand was slapped away.
"Pwease," she said giving me a puppy dog look.
"For the love of Merlin's beard Jayda! You know that doesn't work on me! I taught you the look!" It was true, I actually trained her. I would say things like, "Your lip is out to far" or the occasional, "If you want it, you had better learn to unwrinkle those lips."
Jayda folded her arms in protest. "I can get James to cave in whenever I give him the look!"
"Well," I said, using my matter-of-fact tone, "James is… well let's just say he isn't the brightest candle on the cake." I looked up and choked back giggles. "Speaking of James' stupidity…" I pointed towards the door.
My brother was standing there ready, with his trunk packed and coat on. "James," I asked with a sarcastic sweetness. "Why do you have your coat on when we aren't leaving for hours?"
"Well Traya," he said sharply. "I kind of have this instinct to get out as quickly as possible when there is a fire!"
My twin and I burst into giggles. "James…there…isn't…a fire," I managed to choke out before I relapsed into my fit of giggles.
A puzzled look shadowed across his face. "There isn't? But… I heard Jayda yell!"
"James," I questioned. "If you thought there was a fire here, why did you come over here?"
"I… umm… actually…what happened was…" He said stumbling over his words. He sighed and admitted, "Actually, I smelled the bacon…"
"James!" I mock scolded, "Is bacon more important to you then getting out safely?"
Jayda's Point of View
After we explained to James, that no, there was no fire, we went back to our room and I went to take a shower. Well, I can't say I wasn't expecting it. I knew she was going to get her revenge.
"Traya Kalisha Potter!" I yelled as the warm water I had been using turned ice cold. "I guess were even now," I sighed. Haha. Yea, right. She was soo going to get it.
"Hurry up girls!!" my mirror said loudly. Yea, my mirror talks. It's very weird sometimes. "You're going to be late for your train."
I lifted both trunk handles and tried to drag the trunks.
"Oh, never mind!" They were too heavy!
On the way outside I passed my sister, running back in the general direction from which I'd come.
"What did you pack in that thing? Bricks?" I asked her as she went by.
"It's much lighter then yours!" She replied before she turned the corner.
Okay, she was right. Mine was the heavier trunk. But come on! I have needs! I have wants! I have many accessories…
I made it to the car at last and dad loaded in the trunks. Dad was pretty tall. He had the same black hair as James. They looked very similar.
James hopped in beside me and put on his seat belt. I remembered something.
"You have to show us who Lily is!" I smiled at him sweetly.
"Nah I don't think I will," he said, not looking at me.
"Awe, Jamesie Poo. Look at me," and as he did I gave him my puppy dog look and I knew, before he even opened his mouth, what the reply was going to be.
"Fine. I'll show you who Lily is," he said resentfully. "But no embarrassing stuff, okay?"
What could I possibly do that was embarrassing?
Just then, Traya got into the car and I had to move over and sit next to James. Joy. I filled her in on our conversation quickly, and quietly, and we began to discuss possible ways to … hehe … embarrass our brother.
Traya's Point of View
Jayda and I concocted a plan to embarrass James, all the while, the victim of this plan drifted off to sleep. Being me, I thought, perfect! So I grabbed the pen from my bag and went to work! For a moment, we thought that we would wake James up when we pushed to hard on the marker and he shifted in his sleep. But, lucky him, he didn't.
So we arrived at the station and shook him awake.
"James! Get up!" Our parents looked back and we had to signal them to not mention the 'masterpiece' we had created on James' face. They were forced to keep their hands over their mouths, stifling back giggles.
As we made our way to gateway 9 , James noticed the enormous amount of strange looks we were receiving. He probably thought it was our 3 owls, our numerous trunks or the fact that Jayda and I were twins. People always seemed to be fascinated when they saw us. Twins. Oh wow! I've never seen a pair of those before.
I grew nervous as we approached the gateway. I had seen people do it. It didn't seem totally scary. Oh, who was I kidding! It looked horrible and I assumed it was. Just a little tip, never assume, it makes an ass out of u and me.
I was to go through first, I broke into a run and I choked. I swerved and hit the muggle walking by the gateway. There I lay, my owl, Snowflake, drawing attention to this little accident. Eventually, I made it past the barrier and it wasn't so terrible. I felt like a gust of wind blew through every part of me.
Anyways, James received many snickers and giggles on the train. Eventually, we found the compartment where Sirius, James' best friend, sat.
"Umm… mate. You have something there and there and there." Sirius said pointing to various areas of James' face.
James grabbed the mirror from his bag and bellowed,"TRAYA!!!! JAYDA!!! I'M GONNA KILL YOU BOTH!!!"
We turned and ran down the train. James didn't get tired of the chase either as he usually would. Normally, he would chase us and give up but judging by the redness of his face, he wouldn't give up this time. Good thing Jayda and I are good runners or god knows what would've happened.
Well, the chase continued and everyone watched from a far, not daring to get close. We ran into an open compartment and closed the glass door. We stood three for several minutes making faces at our dear brother. Eventually, we noticed he wasn't looking at us he was looking behind us. Turning around we came face to face with a red-haired girl. It was none other than Lily.
Her face was beet red which was our fault, she blushed at the "I ❤️ Lily" we had doodled all over his face.
Jayda's Point of View
She looked at us after a moment, and we hoped, against hope, that she wasn't going to open that compartment door and let James in. Giving her our best puppy dog looks, we silently pleaded for mercy.
She smiled. "You two did this, I take it?" she sounded calm enough.
Traya and I nodded slowly.
Lily laughed, drew the curtains on James' outraged face and motioned with her hands that we could sit down.
"Are you related to him?" she asked, "You look a lot like Potter."
I nodded. "Were his sisters. 'Little' sisters, as he puts it."
"So how come you decided to write all over his face?"
"Well, we needed something to do on the long ride here. Plus, James did spend a good part of the summer talking about you."
We all laughed. Talking to Lily was easy.
For the rest of the train ride, we talked about our summers, ways we had embarrassed James over the years, and how we hoped we would both be in Griyffindor.
When the train started to slow, I realized with a start that our trunks were still in the other compartment, the one with James in it.
"Traya," I whispered, "do we chance it?"
"Do we chance what?" my sister asked me.
"Losing our lives because of a trunk," I gave her my wide-eyed , serious look.
"Oh, you don't have your trunk here," Lily observed.
"It's back in the other compartment," I explained.
"We're too scared to go get it," Traya put in.
Lily thought for a moment.
"I'll come with you," she said at last.
So we made our way down the corridors slowly until we got to the one James and Sirius were sharing. There were another two boys in the compartment with them. Good, I thought. Lot's of witnesses.
But we didn't have any problem getting our trunks. As soon as we walked in with Lily, James got up and went to stand by the window, pretending to look out.
I giggled as I remembered that the marker we had used was one of the permanent ones that we had bought in Vertic Alley. The label had said 'Cannot be removed by magic. It will fade within a couple of days'.
We made our way back to Lily's compartment and changed into our school robes as the train began to slow down. I was surprised to see a tall man waving his enormous arms up and down, yelling for first years to join him.
Traya and I made our way over to the man who looked half a giant and stood by him, waiting for the other kids to join us. After everyone was together, we set off towards the lake and got into tiny boats that started moving as soon as we were sitting comfortably.
Soon, the castle came into view and it was time for us to get out and enter the big school we would be calling home for the next year. We were put into a smaller classroom and told to wait until Professor McGonagall came to get us.
Professor McGonagall turned out to be a stern looking woman with a tight, slightly graying bun. She marched into the classroom and suddenly a silence fell over everyone, though she had not even said a word to indicate that she wanted silence.
"Now," she said, and though she looked very strict, her voice was not so. "You are to walk into the Great Hall in pairs of two, and follow me until I motion to you to stop. Then you will get sorted and you will go sit with your respective houses."
She turned and walked out of the classroom. We quickly formed two lines and practically ran after her.
