Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Gustakhiyan, which is a biopic on on poet Sahir Ludhianvi, has been in the headlines for its casting. The film is also said to explore Ludhianvi's relationship with Indian poet Amrita Pritam. Names like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Abhishek Bachchan and Irrfan Khan have popped up while Priyanka Chopra's name was making the rounds to play the role of poetess Amrita Pritam.
Then there came the reports that Priyanka has opted out of the movie because she could not come on board as a producer. However, Priyanka's mom, Madhu Chopra refuted the reports and said to a leading daily, "Priyanka was no doubt in talks with Bhansali, but the two couldn't fit their time schedules to discuss the film. The question of co-producing would have come in only at a later stage. As of now, nothing has gone forward."
The latest reports suggest that Abhishek Bachchan has been finalized for male lead and now, the makers are considering Priyanka's cousin Parineeti Chopra for the role of Amrita Pritam.
A source told a leading daily, "If Parineeti commits to Gustakhiyan, this film will mark the first outing of Abhishek and Parineeti as a couple. Bhansali is keen to cast her since the role is a defining one. He felt she has the grace and sensitivity to play a poetess."
