As long as they get instant freebies, they have no problem beinh treated as vote bank.

The reason nothing happened before is this

And in a huge divisive country with everyone having their own agenda
Each change is long and cumbersome

Hell in educated classes too, regions like delhi itself do not have a clear specific rule of marriage registration

The problem only creeps up these days becauss of passport application and foreign trips.

Lot of my sisters friends/ colleagueshave not registered marriage because the system just does not exist. And J am talking about central government employees

There is a lot of room for exploitation everywhere.

Triple Talaq is in Islam and cannot be amended. But the issue is not the law instead how it has been practised. A lot of cases have come out where the way has been practised is entirely wrong. No one, according to any Islamic law, is allowed to give talaq just in one go just by saying talaq thrice. According to the Islamic law, there is a proper procedure that is to be followed no matter what and it's a procedure of 6-9 months where you make the couple meet and sit and get them to rethink about the decision too. Once you are through with that span of time and if both the individuals are still standing their grounds to get separated, a talaq is viable. I dont think anyone can summarize the issue in a more perfect manner than this person has.

Basically they have banned instant talaq which is wrong and is banned in many countries. Its a misuse ..its manipulation of the proper obligation.

Muslims men have misused or interpreted law for their convenience. Its a fact and instant talaq, marrying multiple times are such examples. The proper manner in Islam of triple talaq requires time, and there the intent i believe is that one can rethink and come back and hence it is done in 3 stages.

And for a Muslim Islamic practice (proper one) comes first. Even lets say in US if there is no Islamic law and one gets a divorce through courts, the religious practice will still be implemented. So nothing can change that.

What a week for SC. All hail the landmark judgement on Right to Privacy which should basically annihilates 377 and makes a strong case against marital rape.

Also, on topic, SC verdict was against instant triple talaq with a provision that Court may in future listen to Triple Talaq in it's entity as well under the Narasu Appa Mali . May the struggle of few brave Indian Muslim women continue and they get justice.

Anyhow, I would appreciate if people actually read the Court's judgement and realize how sharia law, Muslim personal law and constitution is codified in India.
