We all loved the same show and that is how how we became friends. We fell for passion, romance and the possibility of finding a relationship that while not conventional would be exceptional.

But Indian TV shows can sometimes disappoint. As this one did. And one thing that we found in common was this - we were not prepared to admire the insensitive actions of the male lead simply because he is good looking. We wanted good writing, if not excellent writing, and we refused to believe that dishing out insults and screaming at people can be justified in the name of love and nature under any circumstance.

Hence we have to now find a way to be friends without the show. This chat club is a place to discuss Hindi TV shows in a logical, sensible manner. We can recommend shows, books and movies to each other or generally just talk. Constructive criticism is welcome here. There is no pressure to post regularly. It is just a space to hang out and talk to each other.

So I'll start the ball rolling and then I've got to go.

I've started watching Bin Kuch Kahe on Zee and enjoying it. I saw the first 20 episodes or so and am now watching the current episodes and caching the older one every now and then when I get a chance.

But I wanted to post a very specific thing here today. The girl is going to marry someone else. Not only that, she says something very hurtful to the hero in this, wherein she basically says that his love is not love but ego. You can see from his changed demeanour that this statement really hurts him.

And so what does he do? He walks away. He does not shove her, push her against the wall, shout at her for insulting his love like that.

The main reason I've fallen in love with this show is because of how the hero is so sorted, so normal that he reminds me of how so much I think of as 'intense' is actually 'aggressive'.

There is another reason why I fell in love with the show too, but I'll keep that for a separate post.

Also, one final thing: please keep the discussion positive, no matter what our frustration with some things. We don't want to be reported for any random reason.
Instead we are going to create our own space for discussion. 😊

Lovely thread Vedika 😊 A place of our own 😃
I still haven't got a chance to watch Bin Kuch Kahe, but will surely catch up after my exams 😊
But I am watching Piyaa Albela these days, and I am loving it, for its unconventional theme, the innocence of the male protagonist. Though he is not someone we can see around us every day but he is surely one who can change the paradigms of Love 😊 The angle of spirituality is again something which fascinates me a lot, hence my interest in watching this particular series ..

Thank you 😊

I will definitely check out Piyaa Albela, especially because the angle of spirituality interests me too. In fact, that is also what scares me because that is one thing that I don't want to see done badly, if you know what I mean.

As for Bin Kuch Kahe, its a finite series and we're almost midway, so I will anyway have to look for something else once it is over. Yes, do try it after your exams.

Will do that for sure.
Also, if you've tried to ever explain technology to parents, this may be funny to you.

Hey Vedika, just getting on after falling asleep promptly after our PMs last night😕.

I too have begun watching Bin Kuch Kahe: this week actually. Prior to this, it aired during our local news, so I would switch the channel, but this week there had been some programming reshuffling on Zee and now it airs before ZKM, so I have tuned in.

The normalcy is so refreshing as shows that you can entertain without all of the unecessary the histrionics. Where it ( Bin Kuch Kahe) couldn't hold my attention before, it certainly has now. I don't know if I will try to go back and watch earlier episodes as I am so busy nowadays, but viewing this week has been a panacea to my frustrations to say the least😊

Thanks for this initial post!

Great initiative, Vedika!!
Love it..

Am right now into Piya Albela and Aisi Deewangi and Kya Qusoor hai Amla ka on Hotstar

1. Piya Albela - the lead is never seen before on any TV and I mean it. He is so pure and should i say that uncontaminated with societal bondage and conditioning that his questioning is a treat to watch. The innocence with which he questions the simplest things which we take for granted and for no rhyme or reason, jolts us. The ending of each episode is with this fantastic 4 liners that make you squirm with his line of reasoning. And the bonus - we have a strong thinking female lead!

2. Aisi Deewangi - appeals to M&B girl in me but with my rules. Male lead is grey but goofishly charming. And no - he doesnt resort to brute force to make a point. Is temperamental, weak on the uptake and has the swag, tries to intimidate the girl. but hey! we have a kickass female lead! She is the exact opposite - cool headed, strong, opinionated and a dynamite. For me the highlight of a scene is where in classic ITV way, ML locks the door and slow walks towards her and stands an inch away from her. Any other show FL begins the slow walk backwards until her back hits the wall and hey cue for eye lock and romance. here our lady does not back an inch. She stays where she is and tells the lead - tumhe kya laga, main dar jaungi?!! Cue for ML to back off and he does!
Another welcome change where all MLs are stereotypical Angrez borns, all arrongant, cant leak a smile types as that is unmanly, here we have the FL who corrects his english pronunciation, a Male lead who breaks into peals of laughter etc - a very welcome change. Its ITV tashan with modernity!

3. Kya qusoor hai - the most real series so far; no camera flashes, no panning. Its that adaption of turkish drama - Fatmagul. Until now, the show has been copied frame to frame, I have been told and hence we have been spared the OTT of Indian drama. The show also deals with the social evil - rape. The protagonist is a rape victim. This is as real and gritty as it gets.
