Great initiative, Vedika!!
Love it..Am right now into Piya Albela and Aisi Deewangi and Kya Qusoor hai Amla ka on Hotstar1. Piya Albela - the lead is never seen before on any TV and I mean it. He is so pure and should i say that uncontaminated with societal bondage and conditioning that his questioning is a treat to watch. The innocence with which he questions the simplest things which we take for granted and for no rhyme or reason, jolts us. The ending of each episode is with this fantastic 4 liners that make you squirm with his line of reasoning. And the bonus - we have a strong thinking female lead!2. Aisi Deewangi - appeals to M&B girl in me but with my rules. Male lead is grey but goofishly charming. And no - he doesnt resort to brute force to make a point. Is temperamental, weak on the uptake and has the swag, tries to intimidate the girl. but hey! we have a kickass female lead! She is the exact opposite - cool headed, strong, opinionated and a dynamite. For me the highlight of a scene is where in classic ITV way, ML locks the door and slow walks towards her and stands an inch away from her. Any other show FL begins the slow walk backwards until her back hits the wall and hey cue for eye lock and romance. here our lady does not back an inch. She stays where she is and tells the lead - tumhe kya laga, main dar jaungi?!! Cue for ML to back off and he does!Another welcome change where all MLs are stereotypical Angrez borns, all arrongant, cant leak a smile types as that is unmanly, here we have the FL who corrects his english pronunciation, a Male lead who breaks into peals of laughter etc - a very welcome change. Its ITV tashan with modernity!3. Kya qusoor hai - the most real series so far; no camera flashes, no panning. Its that adaption of turkish drama - Fatmagul. Until now, the show has been copied frame to frame, I have been told and hence we have been spared the OTT of Indian drama. The show also deals with the social evil - rape. The protagonist is a rape victim. This is as real and gritty as it gets.
