Love it..

Am right now into Piya Albela and Aisi Deewangi and Kya Qusoor hai Amla ka on Hotstar

1. Piya Albela - the lead is never seen before on any TV and I mean it. He is so pure and should i say that uncontaminated with societal bondage and conditioning that his questioning is a treat to watch. The innocence with which he questions the simplest things which we take for granted and for no rhyme or reason, jolts us. The ending of each episode is with this fantastic 4 liners that make you squirm with his line of reasoning. And the bonus - we have a strong thinking female lead!

2. Aisi Deewangi - appeals to M&B girl in me but with my rules. Male lead is grey but goofishly charming. And no - he doesnt resort to brute force to make a point. Is temperamental, weak on the uptake and has the swag, tries to intimidate the girl. but hey! we have a kickass female lead! She is the exact opposite - cool headed, strong, opinionated and a dynamite. For me the highlight of a scene is where in classic ITV way, ML locks the door and slow walks towards her and stands an inch away from her. Any other show FL begins the slow walk backwards until her back hits the wall and hey cue for eye lock and romance. here our lady does not back an inch. She stays where she is and tells the lead - tumhe kya laga, main dar jaungi?!! Cue for ML to back off and he does!
Another welcome change where all MLs are stereotypical Angrez borns, all arrongant, cant leak a smile types as that is unmanly, here we have the FL who corrects his english pronunciation, a Male lead who breaks into peals of laughter etc - a very welcome change. Its ITV tashan with modernity!

3. Kya qusoor hai - the most real series so far; no camera flashes, no panning. Its that adaption of turkish drama - Fatmagul. Until now, the show has been copied frame to frame, I have been told and hence we have been spared the OTT of Indian drama. The show also deals with the social evil - rape. The protagonist is a rape victim. This is as real and gritty as it gets.

Hey Santi, Where is the third one airing - Kya qusoor hai...? I caught a bit of Aisi Diwangi the other day... Cute 😊... Caught the one where she was correcting his English.. . Loved the female lead. And might watch more just for her...

Also I heard good reviews for a dd show in an international media. Apparently has been released in many languages. I don't remember the name exactly, something to the effect of - mein kuch bhi karsakthi hoo! Tackles all social issues... Probably a bit intense for me at the moment... If anyone else want to give it a try and see...

Diya, Kya Qusoor hai Amla ka airs on Star Plus The only catch is that its part of their Star Dopahar shows and airs at 12.30 pm. So I catch it on their app HotStar. Convenient that way!

Thanks everyone and a warm welcome to you all. 😊
Kelly, I'm not surprised that you found Bin Kuch Kahe soothing. Its tone is very similar to your writing in your FF - it flows gently, it emphasises all sorts of tiny details, and its focus is as much on everyone else as on the romance itself. And the romance is very strongly based on the lines the hero and heroine say to each other as opposed to the things they physically do to each other. Initially, I too found it difficult to engage with, but at one point it suddenly hit me that it was like the old Doordarshan shows I used to watch growing up. And once I made that connection, I began to really settle into the flow and like it.

I'll try out all of the shows you all have been recommending. Honestly though I also need some time simply to recover from the show we were all watching. Its still so much on top of my mind, and I can make long posts about all the problems and why this particular instance of bad behaviour put me off when all the earlier iterations of the same did not. I'm still mad I guess because I'd been really into the show, to the point where it had actually affected my work.

Anyway, the point is not to vent. Santi said this to me in a PM that some content is deliberately exaggerated to generate to generate polarising views, and thereby sustain engagement, if I remember what you said correctly. Th😃e point is that it may take me some time to get fully into another show again. Its different for Bin Kuch Kahe because I was already watching it. In the meanwhile, I'm watching lots of standup comedy which is doing a tremendous job at cheering me up and getting me out of other things. 😊

So its Saturday again and I may not be able to post much during the weekend. I'm trying to have a lazy weekend. My friend's going to have a baby shower in America and I have committed to another friend that I'll send a video for the event. I said yes all enthusiastically but now when I actually have to send a video I'm feeling all nervous about it. So my only agenda for the weekend is to finish and send off that video, no matter what!

Have a great weekend everyone. Watch something that makes you laugh, do something fun and lets all keep talking. 😃

Thanks for the invite vedika.
Hello ladies happy to join you all. But don't know I can come here daily or not.
Regarding Bin kuch kahe I was watching this show from day one. It's a refreshing story from all angry young men and crying female lead story. Story doesn't have kitchen politics, I agree sometimes FL behaves stupid and judges ML insanely but still it's not that bad

Also I have another recommendation!
If you haven't seen Zindagi Gulzar Hai, do give it a try. The whole show is on You Tube and consists of 26 episodes. Its such a beautiful show. It is a love story but it also offers really interesting insight into men and women and how they become who they become. Apart from the two leads, all the supporting characters are so memorable. Also, the show does not romanticise poverty, which is one of my favourite aspects of it. And both the male lead and the female lead are strong in their own ways, and they both learn to live with each other without necessarily diminishing that strength. I can go on and on for I love that show!

Hello there 😊

You don't have to post everyday. The aim of this chat club is not to fill up pages or anything like that. I was just looking for an alternative space to talk about TV shows and this came about.

Here are the lyrics-

Realign all the stars
Above my head
Warning signs
Travel far
I drink instead
On my own
Oh,how I've known
The battle scars
And worn out beds

Gentle now
A tender breeze blows
Whispers through a Gran Torino
Whistling another tired song

Engines humm and bitter dreams grow
Heart locked in a Gran Torino
It beats A lonely rhythm all night long

These streets are old
They shine with the things I've known
And breaks through the trees
Their sparkling

Your world
Is nothing more
Than all
The tiny things
You've left behind

So tenderly
Your story is
Nothing more
Than what you see
Or
What you've done
Or will become
Standing strong
Do you belong
In your skin
Just wondering

Gentle now a tender breeze blows
Whispers through the Gran Torino
Whistling another tired song
Engines humm and bitter dreams grow
A heart locked in a Gran Torino
It beats A lonely rhythm
All night long

May I be so bold and stay
I need someone to hold
That shudders my skin
Their sparkling

Your world
Is nothing more
Than all
The tiny things
You've left
Behind

So realign
All the stars
Above my head
Warning signs
Travel far
I drink instead
On my own
Oh
How i've known
The battle scars
And worn out beds

Gentle now a tender breeze blows
Whispers through the Gran Torino
Whistling another tired song
Engines humm and better dreams grow
Heart locked in a Gran Torino
It beats a lonely rhythm
All night long
It beats a lonely rhythm
All night long
It beats a lonely rhythm
All night long
