Abusive husbands in real life too think they had their "reasons" you know...they too think the wives "asked" for it...perhaps the wives too think "oh I could have done so and so to prevent it"...but I am not in favour of dumping everything on women...to me when you get violent towards your spouse then thats all you...you need to take the blame.

I totally agree with you

saki: if they ever ever show it on indian TV!!! I would defo clap for her! The sad part of Indian TV is having fl's who should be the sanskaari bahu's. Imagine someone slapping you or even raising hand if you annoying; if someone's annoying remove them from your life, shout or do whatever- you DO NOT raise hands!

Its not about the character and I know it- its about how it is portrayed- I understand Om's bad behavior to Gauri- even him not allowing her to nter his room: acceptable and fin because of what he thinks of her but raising hands is reaching another level- and girls NEED NOT to accept it! Big time!

@Tm

U have raised a sensitive issue here and u are correct on ur stance that the show makers definitely need to handle such issues properly. Husbands abusing their wives or vice versa both issues need not to be taken lightly. But I don't think that this issue fits here. Omkaara has not raised his hand on her because she's his wife and he's an abusive husband, definitely not. He has already warned her twice not to take Ratan's name and not to interfere in his family issues but she's still poking her nose everywhere but I'm definitely not justifying his almost slap here.

I would not have commented here as I'm tired of justifying the character had I not seen the comments on feminism here. The guy was portrayed as a feminist from the beginning of the parent show. He has some plain anger issues and he loses it completely when somebody attacks his loved ones, that's how the character has been shown from the beginning. That's it! Period

Honestly om is not the kinds who should be getting so physical with a woman.. Even if he hates her or believes that she is of low character.. She is there to help him.. And time and again saved him.. Even if she getting into some touchy topic.. He still has no right to twist her arm or grab her arms or raise a hand.. Om did it even in bareily when he was in Kali house.. It's so unlike a character which has been so sensible and calm.. Anger is one thing which is fine but using demeaning words for gauri And raising his hand is not acceptable..
Yet I will leave the scene to be seen as who comes into the picture.. I feel om is so much becoming tej in body language..

It is not surprising to me at all because DBO is a 4 lions show and it's mandatory for every male lead to manhandle the female lead and turn abusive/borderline abusive.
And whenever a 4 lions male lead expresses his anger he does it by manhandling the girl.

I don't know whether it's romanticising or not but this behaviour is definitely abusive.Women in 4 Lion shows are considered as objects at the mercy of the man.But what is more disturbing is that such incidents are forgotten as if they never happened.Such things are taken lightly.Have we ever seen any male lead apologising to the female lead for manhandling her in Gul shows??
