I am really done with this show, I have refrained myself from ranting about character and plot for the longest time. The last time I watched a full episode of this show was in 2015 before the bhooth track, so it is clear that I am not a viewer of this circus. However when I read the review threads just to get a synopsis of what is happening if I ever want to talk & to see what is happening to what used to be, my favourite Indian show. And today when I read about some Chandan's death (don't know who he is besides a positive side character) I couldn't stop myself from making this post.
This is a simply question as you all can see in the title, is death a joke?
Rinky, Vandita, Aliya's mother and now Chandan. Why have all these characters been ended off and left to be never mentioned again. Even though they are fictional characters, are their deaths so meaningless that they are never given justice & are purely another way to create drama?!
Rinky who was the youngest sibling in the Bhalla family, I can almost imagine how intense the Bhalla house would have been had they lost a brother or sister, especially if it was their youngest, pampered sister. The actor's emoting and the storyline could have gripped onto the audience for I can imagine KP and AG emoting the brothers who had just lost their younger sister. They could have just dedicated one episode to this character who, initially was the only one out of the Bhalla siblings rooting for her Ishita Bhabhi in the first days of IshRa's marriage. But no, they made her death into a weird drama to frame Mihika, had Rinky's husband who was also Raman's biggest support thrown into jail. I mean what would it have done to them to show Mihir and Raman grieving over Rinky's death, considering how brilliant RSA and KP would have been instead of having Raman beat up Mihir. Forget trying to make the storyline nice, they never showed Rinky getting justice for her death since she was just killed off and forgotten, now never mentioned in the Bhalla home
Then we have Vandita, who was the eldest Iyer sister and whose death got a bit more respect than Rinky's. We got to see Ishita, Bala, and both Bhalla and Iyer families grieving, but did she ever get proper justice and was her character's death worth the drama that was created? Inside of a joint family mourning a woman's, mother's, wife's, sister's, and daughter's death and trying to get her justice, we saw Amma cursing her other daughter, accusations being thrown everywhere. Was it too hard to give a few scenes such as Amma and Muumyji talking about losing their daughters, Bala and Mihir talking about losing their wives, Bala and Raman talking about what it is like to be single fathers since Raman has been a single single for a while and finally if YHM's lead couple was remembered, what about having Raman and Ishita cry over losing their sisters? And even though Nidhi's drama was ended by showing that Nidhi was the one that killed Vandita in the accident, was killing off a loved character worth the few weeks of drama?
And from what I have read now Aliya's mother death is also being brought in for the sake of drama. They have made Mani a liar yet again and tried to justify the drama of Aliya being stalked and whatever they plan on doing with her dad, is it worth showing how a woman who was first told be to killed in an accident, was accidentally killed by her husband. Is it needed when they could have introduced Aliya's dad in so many other ways. Was bringing a dead mother into the equation needed? I am sure there are many other ways to show her dad, but yet again the worst subject was touched upon so lightly. Being accused for your wife's murder and a girl who was excited for her wedding learning about the truth behind her mother's death can never be handled well by the creators, so why touch a topic you can't portray well and give justice to?
Finally we have Chandan, who I don't even know how he looks like, but know that his wedding was approaching. Out of all the ways that Ashok could have made Adi's life miserable in the village, death and murder was chosen to be shown. Is it necessary to show a young man happy to start a new life with his wife, be murdered? I am almost sure there will be no justice to his death since Ashok will not be shown punished and the drama will focus on Adi and his problems after being accused for murder, but again is it worth showing death? A person who has died days before their wedding, the devastation that will be caused among guests and the groom & bride's family will be pushed aside, because who cares about emotion when we have drama?!
This is just me talking about the major examples, I have refrained from talking about showing miscarriage which was a death before birth or Nidhi's parents where the impact of parent's suicide on a child could have been shown which I could write essays on since such incidents have such a huge impact on a person who experiences them that I rather not discuss on a show like this, but talk about in a psychology class where people would actually listen and care about the subject.
All in all, the only reason I am posting this is because the makers have chosen to portray death and murder so casually on this show that it makes me sick. Death is not something that shouldn't be discussed because I know everyone dies, but if you choose to show such subject on television I believe all emotions behind it need to be shown properly. In real life, deaths impact families for days, months and sometimes years. People are forgotten in a few days or weeks like shown in YHM! I know this may come across as a pointless rant and I know my rants will not be heard, but I am still posting this because I need to get this off my mind. Death is not a joke, it is a serious truth of this world which needs to be treated as such. I no longer hope for anything on this show, but I do wish that if there is ever any death or anything similar to the subject is shown on television, it is given proper closure and justice.
