Is Karthik reason for leaving GV only what happened 20 years ago (SuvarNish being responsible for his mother's death in his eyes) or is it what happened through out the course of the 14 years (20 years since Karthik mother passed away and he went away permanently 6 years back so the middle 14 years).

I find it both Suvarna Karthik probably started hating 20 years back but Manish maybe Karthik dislikes him for more than one reason.

If Karthik always hated him why would he be attached to the business. He maybe not working in Goenka Company but he has chosen the same field (gems and stuff). Even in jail Manish said that Karthik had advised to be truthful to clients when Goenka company was going through bad phase. That means he was still taking interest.

Remember when Karthik stopped Manish from slapping him and said that he is no more that 8-9 year old who couldn't save himself. It was clear that Manish had raised his hand on Karthik the night before he was send to boarding. God knows how many incidents must have been like this that took Karthik completely away from Manish and maybe 6 years back he couldn't tolerate anymore

Even I feel there are more reasons that compelled karthik to dislike his father and all those feeling just turned into hatred. Nevertheless I feel Karthik still misses his father.

From the episode when Manish was drunk, it looked like Karthik shared a great bond with him. I am not sure about the exact backdrop, but possibly he was involved in the business somehow. I also think he doesn't hate Swarna only because of his mother's death, but he probably believes that Swarna hasn't taken away his mother only, but his father too. The only person he could call parent after his mother's demise.
