Remember the de-glam pictures of Deepika Padukone carrying clothes around Dhobi Ghat? Yes, those same pictures that proved the actress had given a look test for Majid Majidi's Beyond The Clouds! Well, we all know what happened after that. The actress gave a convincing look test, but the director did not select her. Some said that she failed to impress him, while others said that Deepika had not liked the story. However, looks like Majid Majidi has finally put all these reports to rest
. While speaking to DNA, the director made it clear that he was interested in signing her, but it was his vision and unfavourable circumstances that lead to her being dropped from the running. As the filmmaker revealed, "My producers tell me that Deepika had shown some interest in the beginning and it is because of that, that I wanted her to be part of my movie. And when I asked her for a look test, it was not to doubt her professionalism. She is an excellent actress. But how much she befits the role, that is in my vision, I wanted to see. Let me tell you though, that the circumstances were such that they weren't favourable and nothing materialised of it."
Malayalam actress Malavika Mohanan has now been finalised for the part and she is currently shooting for the film along with Shahid Kapoor's brother Ishaan Khattar. For those of you who don't know, the movie dwells into the love stories of these two characters, their life and their relations with people around them. The film will be released by this year's end.
