I dont understand whats wrong in being a go-getter if it is going to be good for your career. If it is works, good, if it doesnt atleast you tried. Atleast you wont repent that what if you tried. The way Deepika is criticized for this is very mean. Wont working people look for better opportunities all the time? Isnt that normal... If its not like that then I believe you are not driven enough... I dont think you can progress if you always wait for opportunities to come to you.

More, I think this guy is using Deepika now. Why is he being so public about her screen test now? Isnt that unprofessional... Gaining mileage on replacing one of the best with someone less known. First that actress didnt make much news for replacing DP.. now this director himself gave this news out for interpretation. How subtly he mentions that DP's team approached him...And how people are dismissing that even if she approached him, she doesnt have to like the role or accept it... Its a two way street. May be she didnt like the pay she was offered.

Nothing wrong in being a go-getter and seeking opportunities than later regretting for not trying.

But I think she was the one earlier publicizing her screen test with Majidi a lot

And what's wrong with what Majidi said... I think he was answering a question

what was wrong in what he said?

wasnt he to the point, honest and polite?

he is an international director who works with little known actors, why will he suddenly need to use deepikas name? isnt his own hard work and hard earned respect in film circuit internationally enough?

does anyone internationally even know deepika? his audience isnt Bollywood or contemporary Hollywood movie goers?😕

he mentioned she approached him. maybe he even gave her an audition because of that otherwise his nazar was on some other actress? he wasolite enough to not turn her down immediately?

maybe the aforementioned blind about her changing face due to plastic surgery held some water after all? he doesnt say exactly what.

if she was after pay, she would take on a lucrative big bucks paying advert..not a time consuming low budget movie. what an utterly stupid thing to say.

IMO it is a cutural difference. In Bwood actors are not used to having to go through casting, especially when they are a-list. That is not how cinema works elsewhere. I imagine that Deepikas team thought that leaking the whole thing would solidify her for the role, they are not new to this tactic. Sadly for them, it does not mean anything for foreign directors. That is why so many are making fun of her now.

XXX star Deepika Padukone very nearly secured a role in a major new musical drama, but was ultimately snubbed in favour of Malavika Mohanan.

Now, director Majid Majidi has explained why he opted not to cast the Return Of Xander Cage beauty in his latest project, Beyond The Clouds.

Padukone had auditioned for the lead, but was not ultimately cast.

Now, Majidi has told Deccan Chronicle: "My producers tell me that Deepika had shown some interest in the beginning and it is because of that, that I wanted her to be part of my movie.

"And when I asked her for a look test, it was not to doubt her professionalism. She is an excellent actress."

He added: "But how much she befits the role, that is in my vision, I wanted to see.

"Let me tell you though, that the circumstances were such that they weren't favourable and nothing materialised of it."

Beyond The Clouds is due out by the end of the year, and a first look was released earlier this year.
