Shraddha Kapoor, Kajol and Sridevi's films to clash at the box office

Three films where women are set to play central characters are scheduled to release on the same day in July. Kajol's Tamil film Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 (VIP 2) shares its release date with Shraddha Kapoor's Haseena and Sridevi's Mom, reports IB Times.

Velaiilla Pattadhari 2 stars Dhanush and Amala Paul alongside Kajol. The Bollywood actress has made a comeback in Tamil cinema after 19 years. She was last seen in a Hindi film in 2015 in Rohit Shetty's Dilwale opposite Shah Rukh Khan, with Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon.

Shraddha Kapoor's Haseena sees her playing Dawood Ibrahim's sister Haseena Parkar, and her sibling Siddhanth Kapoor plays Dawood. This is Shraddha's first female protagonist-centric film, and in the film's first poster, she has a fierce, raw look. Her last Bollywood performance was the role of Tara in Shaad Ali's Ok Jaanu.

Sridevi's Mom is centered on a mother's relationship with her 18-year-old daughter, and the poster of the film sees her in a sombre, gritty avatar. She stars in this film with Akshaye Khanna, Abhimanyu Singh and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. She was last seen in Gauri Shinde's English Vinglish in 2012, which was a woman-centric film.

Apart from these four films, Saif Ali Khan's Chef is also set to release on 14 July.
