I am glad I could justify their feelings and roles without having them step out of character.

Rainbow and unicorn endings give people a wrong idea about love.

You will obviously have some pretty great moments, but you do need to first work on it and come to a common ground for that, not wait for some some hypothetical 'Prince Charming' who for all you care is gonna be a jerk and MCP otherwise who cannot trust you to do any of your own stuff coz you're his princess. Not speaking from any personal experience at all, for that, I'll have to first fall in love which is an impossible notion in itself 🤣
