Arjun-Parineeti Again
We've mentioned in this column that Dibakar Banerjee had roped in Arjun Kapoor for his next directorial, which he will produce along with Yash Raj Films. The film will also see Kapoor sharing the screen with Parineeti Chopra, with whom he made his debut in Ishaqzaade.
Right now, Kapoor is shooting for Anees Bazmee's Mubarakan and Chopra will start shooting for Rohit Shetty's Golmaal 4 next month. Once they are both done with their respective films, they will start shooting for Banerjee's movie.
This film will probably mount the sets in August and release in the first quarter of 2018.
Sircar To Direct Kapoor, Dhawan
Afew days ago, Shoojit Sircar's production house announced the release date of two films to be directed by him - December 1, 2017 and September 28, 2018. Although the release dates were announced, there was no word on the star cast.
But a source from his production house tells us that the director has been in touch with two big actors - Ranbir Kapoor and Varun Dhawan. While one film will feature Kapoor, the other will have Dhawan playing leading man.
We don't know yet who has been cast in which film.
AB-ARB In Gulab Jamun
They're a real-life couple and have also been a reel-life couple in the past. Moreover, their chemistry has been appreciated by the audience. So, if all goes well, they will be seen together on screen again. We're talking about Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
We're told that the production house Phantom recently approached them with a rom-com script titled Gulab Jamun. We're also told that both the actors like the script but are yet to signed on the dotted line. Let's hope it's a done deal so that we get to watch them together on screen soon. The film is being written-and-directed by a newcomer.
PS: We're told that, in all probability, Amitabh Bachchan will also play a pivotal role in the film.
Rani In Hichki
After her last release, Mardaani, there was talk that Rani Mukerji would do her next film with the same title as the production house wanted to make a franchiese out of this film. However, there's been no news on that since.
Now news is that Mukerji is all set to face the camera again. Come August and she will start shooting for Hichki, which will be directed by Siddharth Malhotra.
The Delay In Begum Jaan
This movie's complete but no one knows when it will release. We're talking about Vidya Balan's Begum Jaan. Reason: There's a legal battle underway between its producer Mukesh Bhatt and their distributor RNA Play Entertainment. We're told that RNA couldn't pay the money in time, which led to a legal wrangle.
Now we hear that Bhatt is trying to get a corporate on board, who will release the film. Let's hope he succeeds.
Will HR Do Kaththi?
Last week, we mentioned in this column that a team of Viacom18 had recently met Hrithik Roshan and discussed several scripts with him. Now we're told that one of movies they pitched is AR Murugadoss's Tamil film Kaththi, which had Vijay playing the leading man in Tamil. The film was also remade in Telugu, with Chiranjeevi playing the leading man. The movie was a blockbuster in both languages.
Let's see if Roshan wants to be a part of the Kaththi remake. If he does, the film will probably be directed by AR Murugadoss.
SRK's Next Is Yet Untitled
Ever since Shah Rukh Khan announced that he was going to work with Imtiaz Ali, people have not only been wondering what the film would be all about but have also been speculating on the film's title. Although the poster has been released, there's been no announcement on the title.
Fuelled by rumours that the story of the film revolved around a ring, the title was assumed to be, The Ring. But that turned out to be wrong. Now there's talk that the film has been titled Rehnuma because Shah Rukh Khan plays a guide in the film and rehnuma' is Urdu for guide'.
But there's no truth to this either. The truth is, the film, which is expected to release during the Independence Day weekend this year, is still untitled. We'll just have to wait.
