The sun was surrounded with the shades of orange and pink... He stood in his balcony allowing the cool breeze to blow his hairs softly...watching the blend of orange, red and yellow on the horizon...a silence filled in the surrounding broke by the sudden humming sound...as the sun slowly sink... As if following that beat...
Tere bina Zindagi se koi shikwa to nahin...shikwa nahin...
Tere bina Zindagi bhi lekin Zindagi to nahin...Zindagi nahin...
Tum jo keh do to aaj ki raat chaand doobega nahin...
raat ko rok lo...
Raat ki baat hai aur Zindagi baaki to nahin...
Slowly the echo of his voice faded and his eyes met with the sky that started to darken evaporating all the colors...but it started to sparkle with its striking pearls... He shook his head, the urge of singing he couldn't stop sometimes... It was something that always gave him peace...immense pleasure... and the evergreen hindi classics, well that was something he used to crazy about... But it had been long time he stopped singing and hadn't even touched his guitar once in long time now...
ASRA' (the group of four of them, Asad, Shaad, Rehaan and Ayaan) the name of their identity in their college time...but as they parted their ways to achieve their dreams, it had become a memory...
Well, the memories can be refurbished...but then he refused for it... He doesn't want to but he did... sighing he walked back to his room and resumed his work...
"Aashuuu..."
His one hand stilled on the keypad of his laptop whereas other reached his temple as soon as the yelling of his name traveled through the closed door of his room
"Aa gayi madam..." he mumbled when the door of his room pushed open. He waited for the outburst with his eyes closed but after good five minutes of waiting nothing came on his way and very carefully he opened his eyes and sighed looking at the person who stood in front of him with arms crossed, and a heated gaze fixed on him...
Placing his laptop aside he crossed his arms, "Hmm..." he stared for sometime waiting for any response, "Kuch bat karni hai kya?" he asked carefully expecting an angry rebuke in return
"Explanation..."
He narrowed his eyes hearing a simple word explanation' without any type of emotions on her face. He cleared his throat and massaged his forehead, "You know the reason" he said pressing his lips
"That can't be the reason okay...just for the one stupid person tum baki sabko toh upset nahi kar sakte na...wo sab tumhare friends hai jinke liye tum matter karte ho...tumhare na jane se unhe fark padta hai..."
Asad sighed shaking his head, "Haan meri Naani...janta hu..." he said pulling his cute princess towards himself, "you know, I feel like I am a student and you are a strict school teacher who is asking the explanation for not completing the homework..." he said pushing her bangs off her forehead while she just looked other way ignoring him. He shook his head at her cute ways of getting angry and started to tickle her
"Aashuuu...nahi...please...Aashu..." soon the room filled with her giggles when she slipped out of his hold and he ran behind her, "Kaha jaogi bhag ke..." he said chasing her running around his bed
"Ouch...Aahhh..."
Asad stopped in his track hearing the painful whimper and rushed towards her
"Aahhh...Aashu nahi...hath mat lagana please...pain ho raha hai..."
Asad moved his hand back with panic, "Bohat pain hai kya...?" he asked and received a nod with a puppy face, "Wait main doctor ko call karta hu...ek injection milega toh sab thik ho jayega..."
"INJECTION...NOOO..." She stood in an instant with horror, "See Aashu...kuch nahi hua hai...I am perfectlyyy fineee"
"Drama Queen..." Asad shook his head
"Don't call me that okay..." Asad raised his brows as an angry glare shot on his way, "I am not stupid like her...uske nick names mujhe mat dena..."
"Ohhh...someone is jealous here..."
"Bilkul nahi..." she snapped walking towards his bed
"Okay...nahi kahunga phirse...tum to meri princess ho..." he said following her while she stood on his bed, "can you get down please..." he tried to pull her down
"Nahi..." standing on the bed she raised her chin up while he stood in front of her... his arms crossed and eyes narrowed as he looked at her, "Why you forgot every time...I am your Friend...Best Friend...yad rakhna..."
Asad smiled as her tiny hands wrapped around his neck
"Hmm...hamesha yad rakhunga...My Best Friend Suhaani..." he pecked on her cheeks lovingly while a broad smile appeared on her cute face
"Aashu..." She moved back and Asad looked at her questioningly realizing a sudden change in her tone
"Tumhe jana chahiye..."
"Hmm..." He sighed and sat on the bed, looking out of the window and she sat beside him, "I don't think so..."
"Don't you want to meet her...honestly batao Aashu..." rising on her knees she placed her palm on his cheek, making him face to her
"I don't know...I mean yes I want to meet her but I can't...I can't explain it Suhaani...aur tum nahi samjhogi...bohat choti ho tum abhi..."
"What...main nahi samjhungi..." She stood perching her hands on her waist, her brows raised with a demanding look
Asad chuckled looking at her cute expressions, "Galti ho gayi meri Naani...bilkul samjhogi...meri 8 saal ki Genius..."
"Phirse mujhe choti kahoge..." she asked narrowing her eyes
"No way...kaha na galati ho gayi" holding her hands he pulled her down, tum to kisi bhi angle se choti nahi ho...sab samjhti ho tum...khush"
"Tumse toh jyada hi samjhti hu buddhu..." she said as he made her sit on his lap, "Ab batao...jaoge na..." she asked expectantly
"I don't know...I guess she don't want to meet me..." He stated adjusting her on his lap so that she could sit comfortably, cradled sideways in his arms
"How do you know that...?" she asked looking up
"You know she didn't even call me once since past three years...and if she is happy without me then let it be...I am happy for her..." He said staring ahead
"Ohh Aashu..." she said slightly irritated at his thinking and he looked down at her, "stop thinking about what she wants...enough of fulfilling her wishes...I know you want to meet her...and it's not any crime in accepting...okay..."
"Hmm...Sochunga..." He sighed tucking her hairs back from her face
"NO..." she shouted getting up from his lap, "Aaj tak sirf socha hi to hai Aashu tum ne...ab no more sochna...you have to face it...tum Mumbai ja rahe ho and its final...no more discussions..." she ordered dramatically... her brows raised as she stared at him...
"ZIDDI..." he narrowed his eyes and she glared back
"Yes I am...but not like her...aur waise toh uski har unfair Zid bhi tum ne puri ki thi..."
"Hmm..." he pulled her down again and pinched the tip of her nose, "Ab yeh gussa bhagao...you know tumhari bhi har zid puri karta hu main..."
"I know..." tilting her head sideways she smiled cutely, "Ab phone do apna"
"Why?"
"Do na pleaseee..." She whined
"Shaad ko call karna hai..." he inquired narrowing his eyes
"Aashu...tum buddy ko kuch nahi kahoge...he just want you to be there with them...just like old days..."
"Kuch nahi kahunga madam...now please let me do some work" he said forwarding his phone
"YES..." She beamed and moving forward kissed his cheek, "Thank you and don't worries...do your work main baki sab dekh lungi..."
"What baki sab?" he asked suspiciously as she rushed out
"Ohh...wo...your packing..." She winked before closing the door
Asad stared at the close door for a moment and his lips stretched in small smile thinking about Suhaani's antics... Ziddi...just like her...'
Suhaani was his friend-cum-business partner Shantanu's daughter. Five years back after completing his MBA from FMS, Delhi when he came back to Bhopal with a resolve of starting his own business, Shantanu was a great help for him. Within two years all their hard work paid off but then Shantanu and his wife met with an accident and left the world leaving a five year old Suhaani back. She was in trauma and there was no one who could take care of her. As she always shares a very good bond with Asad he decided to bring her home. Because of his care and love, over the time he brought the old bubbly Suhaani back and hence since last three years she was with him, spreading happiness in his otherwise dull life... She used to call him Aashu and he loved it...he was her Dadda's best friend and so as hers too and she always kept reminding it to him... Her antics, her threats, her stubbornness, her smiles always reminded him of someone else...someone who was miles away from him...from his life...but still a part of his life...
He turned his attention towards his laptop again but his brows creased and he placed his laptop aside before getting up as the sound of giggling reached his ears...
"Buddy tum na bas sochte hi raho..." He heard Suhaani talking
Walking behind her slowly he leaned against the pillar crossing his arms
"Mission complete and about the..." She stopped as her eyes caught him, "Wo...main...Buddy ko bata rai thi..." she scratched her head as he took the phone from her hand
"What you guys are planning?" he asked
"Nothing..." she shook her head and grabbed the phone from his hand, "Don't worry Buddy...I'll help Aashu in packing...bye..." She yelled before disconnecting the call and placed it again in Asad's palm
"Why you are inquiring like this, main toh bas tumhari help karne ki soch rahi thi...you have to complete your work na..." She asked innocently and he shook his head smiling...
"Aashu...you should smile like this...remember na?" she asked before ran away as he moved forward to catch her...
"That is the only wish, jo tumne kabhi puri nahi ki...ab wo bhi kar dena..." He heard as she closed the door of her room...
"Hmmm..." He smiled and walked inside his room...
He looked out of the window...his gaze was fixed on the night sky...and the memories flashed like a movie...
Kaash aisa ho tere kadmon se chun ke manzil chale
Aur kahin door kahin...
Kaash aisa ho tere kadmon se chun ke manzil chale
Aur kahin door kahin...
Tum gar saath ho, manzilon ki kami to nahin...
Tere bina zindagi se koi shikwa to nahin
Shikwa nahin, shikwa nahin, shikwa to nahin
shikwa nahin...
